Liz,
I'd love to be your virtual training partner and actual race day partner. We are about the same speed!

Yay Laura!! Although, I think you are faster than me! I'm thinking I will finish it in no LESS than 6 hours...

Awesome Liz! You would rock a full! It might not take too much convincing to get me to run the Goofy in 2013 and then I'd at least start the Full with you. (You would probably leave me in the dust.)

You and your leaving me in the dust comments Jenny..lol I really don't foresee that happening! I am thinking about Goofy too. This may be my only full and therefore my only chance to go Goofy!

Yay, Liz!!! :woohoo: Hey, if I did it last year, you can definitely do it next year. And I'll be doing the Goofy, so I'll be there in agony and triumph right there with ya!!

Awesome Tanya!!

Great idea, Liz! Can't think of a better place than Disney to do your first one! I have given it some thought as well, maybe the anniversary would be a good time.

Alright Augie, you need to go for it too...and maybe go Goofy!!! It would be a piece of cake for you, maybe a little larger than your normal piece of cake, but still, cake. It's going to be a plate full of cow brains for me!

... Liz: sounds like a good idea about running the full next year.:thumbsup2
Does the training start the day after the marathon relay?
Have a good week ducks!
Joe

Sounds like a good idea, eh Joe? hint hint.. ;)
Training won't start the day after, but not too long after! I'm thinking if I commit to this it needs to be one of my priorities next year. Which means official training begins in the summer...and plenty of pre-training during the winter and spring. NO slacking!

Wow! I'm late to the party! My hubby and I have been training for the Donald 2012 and I had no idea (until I just found this thread) that you guys were here! Anyhow, glad I found this and very excited .....and nervous.... to be running our first half with you Donald Dashers!

Welcome to the Ducks Andrea! :)
As Renee said, we are not a team just for those doing the Half, but as you can see a LOT of us are doing it this year! So you are in the right place for support on that! I added you to our team list and to the Half race list. No pressure to meet up with us that weekend since you just joined...but we are a super nice bunch (if I do say so myself ;)) and would love to meet you. :goodvibes

Liz That is am exciting adventure..I just don't have it in me for an entire marathon. the half is just my speed..

...

I am so very proud of myself today, I ran 6 miles with no pain and felt great.. did it in one hour 6 minutes!!
My goal is to run the Princess Half in under 3 hours!! I can do this!!!

It was not long ago (as in weeks! lol) that I said NO FULL FOR ME. But alas, how things can change in the blink of an eye... ;)

WTG on your 6 miler with no pain! You are right, you absolutely CAN do the Princess in under 3! :thumbsup2

... Hope you all have a great day! Liz - I'm in with you and all the other ducks for next year! Woo hoo! :yay:

Ok! yay!! :)

... Liz: Perfect time to get a new medal next year! Main reason I didn't do the full this year (wanted some new Mickey bling) :rotfl:

Yay, another one doing the Full! Will you go Goofy too??

Karin -
Did the full marathon, and so - I believe I now qualify to be a Marathon Maniac. Maybe I will get to wear my new shirt to the WDW race in January if they move quickly. LOL! Hope all is well. I'm done with longruns until Disney.

Marathon Maniac-WOW Laura, congrats! :cool1:

Liz - 2013 will be a GREAT year to get "Marathon" checked off your bucket list. Do it!

...

And BTW - Why has Liz gone deathly silent about the Duck Drop in January? Notice how she changed the subject quickly to "Look! I think I'm gonna run a marathon next year!" :rolleyes1 I see what you're doing here, Liz...

I think I am going to go for it Renee, how bout you??? ;)

Lol...you are too funny... I won't be going into any parks this trip so no Duck Drop for me whether I want to or not. boohoo..so sad. ;)

Popping in to say hello. Both DH and I are new to running this year and are running our first 1/2 at WDW in January. Not sure where we'll go from there - we'd like to stay doing 1/2's if at all possible. Hello everyone!!:flower3:

Hi! I just missed your post as I was posting my monster huge post. Lol

Welcome to the Ducks! :) One more Duck doing the Half, yay!! Congrats on becoming a runner! You are going to have a blast running the half in WDW. It is an awesome experience...and an addictive one!

I'll add you to the lists. :)

Marathon Weekend Duck meets..

So I know the meet up for HS sometime at 7 or after to ride ToT and see the Osbourne Lights is happening... I won't be at that one but I can't wait to see pics from it! :thumbsup2

Does anyone want to meet up at the Start before the races on Saturday or Sunday??

Hi all.

Liz: add me to the 5k list, Debbie and I decided to do that one, we liked the medal:cool1:

Joe

Hello Ducks!!! Hope all of you are doing good and training going well. I wanted to ask everyone on here what are some half marathons that you would recommend doing? A coworker and myself are going to start marking off halfs for each state. Our plan is to run 3 halfs (maybe 4) after the January races this year. Just thought what better place to acquire information about races.

From my family to yours Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Tim

Anyone interested in getting together at HS Friday night, how does meeting at the Miss Piggy fountain by the Muppet movie at 7 sound?
I am for a meet up before the half on Saturday, anyone have thought on where? I can't remember the layout of the holding area.

I didn't get a chance for a long run outside today. I was ready to go, but my parents and sister and family were at the house this weekend for our family Christmas party and by the time they left the desire to run went away. I managed 7 miles on the treadmill tonight. Maybe a long run on Christmas eve.
Have a good week everyone!:hippie:

I have only done one non-Disney race so far, it was the Air Force half marathon in Dayton Ohio. It takes place in early September. It goes through most of the base and ends at the Air Force museum near some of the static airplane displays. Pretty nice course.

I got "Run Marathon" off my bucket list in 1997 and 1998, Liz. I'm too old (and fat) for that stuff now. But YOU can do it!

Liz - We can try to meet up on Saturday morning before the half. I still have your cell phone number. Will you be carrying your phone?

From my family to yours Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Tim

Tim - I know you've had a tough year. I wish for a very blessed Christmas to you and yours! I wish for you to be able to be IN THE MOMENT during the fun-filled family and friend gatherings, cherishing the time together. Merry Christmas!

Joe - I'm up for the Friday night 7 PM meet-up, but reserve my right to bag out if I need to rest up for Saturday morning instead.

Saturday morning meet-up: Let's see if we can do that via cell phones again. I've got your number and will be in touch on Friday for sure. Looking forward to seeing you and Deb again! :3dglasses

I'm a maybe on Friday. DD's bedtime usually starts @ 7PM.
DEFINITELY up for meeting prior to half & even @ the Expo is anyone wants to?

Where is everyone staying?
We'll be at SSR.

If you don't meet up with us, then we probably won't meet since I'm not doing the half-marathon. You can always show up, meet me (the important part :rolleyes1 ), and then head out. ;)

I'll be at BLT with friends driving down from Charleston. We're staying until January 14.

Indeed! What was I thinking?!? It's all about you, Carissa! My hero. I take it all back. I'll be there Friday night. Period. ;)

Debbie and I are staying at Kidani Village.

Karin: We will probably be at HS well before 7, if you can't stick around maybe we will bump into each other before you have to go.

:yay: Unless we get the chance to meet up another day. I plan to hit Epcot on Saturday afternoon and not sure about Sunday evening. I think I was planning on MK then. Liz will be heading home so I'll be alone. If I can walk, I'll probably try to see Wishes. I don't head home until Monday afternoon. Thinking of AK on Monday.

I am DETERMINED to meet some Ducks this time! :cool2:
Here's my cell: 609-254-0293 (feel free to text I got a new phone!)
We're staying til Tuesday, the 10th.

I know this is radical thinking, but would it be out of the question to consider getting together, say, at 5:30 or 6 (instead of 7)? :confused3 That way, Karin's little one could be closer to bed at her normal time and we could all get back to our resorts a bit earlier for our Saturday morning start. We could get the Duck Drop in before the Osbourne Light show.

So should we meet at that information booth/attraction time center near the corner of Sunset Blvd. and the main drag into the park (on the corner as you turn right to go to the ToT and RnRC) at 5:30-ish, go stand in line and visit while we wait for our drop, then head over to see the lights when it's a bit darker? Will everyone be done with the expo by then? Do people have important ADR's?

Or is this all waaay too radical?!? :upsidedow

BTW - For the FIRST time in MONTHS, I don't have soreness in my calves! Woo hoo! I'm thinking of running 12 miles on Boxing Day. But I don't have a tapering plan after that...anyone?!?...anyone???

Getting there earlier would be a problem for me. I arrive on Friday, have to check in, hit the expo and Liz and I were going to have dinner in DTD. But if that works better for everyone, no worries. I definitely plan on being there that evening to see the lights.

Does anyone know if there will be tracking available for those who wish to keep tabs on us during the race? :confused3 And if so, where to sign up?

I've only done Disney halfs! Maybe someday I'll branch out into the rest of the world...don't have a big desire to though. I do like the idea of doing one in each state though. That would be an amazing accomplishment, good luck!

Yep I'll have my phone with me...text me.

Debbie and I are staying at Kidani Village.
...

Joe

Have you stayed at Kidani before or will this be your first time? Just this morning I made our DVC reservations for next June at Kidani. We stayed at the regular AKL years ago before DVC existed there. We're excited to try out Kidani!

I am DETERMINED to meet some Ducks this time! :cool2:

They usually do...I can't seem to find it right now.
