Hi Liz

I'm doing my first half also! :) So excited :yay: I'll be there at 4AM Saturday with bells on. :) Happy New Year to all.

Colleen

I went back and read the first 5 or 6 pages of this thread, which were penned right after the 2011 Marathon Weekend. It's interesting to see what goals people had back then (and stated here) and what people have actually accomplished this year (in a GOOD way!). It's an interesting read, if you're bored...:upsidedow

:thumbsup2 If we all end up back at WDW for marathon weekend, we need to plan a meet somewhere adult friendly so we can have a beer together. ;) I suggest Raglan Road so I can have a delicious Guinness.

I took Renee's advice and re-read some of the earlier pages and noticed this.
Anyone want to look into this at DTD for Saturday afternoon? This would include anyone not going to the parks during the weekend.

Joe

One week to go until I fly down! It's almost here. Renee, great that you are running without pain, hope that keeps up. I am a bit concerned myself, I have not run since Dec 4th, when I did a 5K and had some recurring pain in my foot from two previous races. I plan to do a short run tonight or tomorrow to see how it feels. I did walk around the city last night for a few miles, in addition to bouncing around for four hours at the Phish show, and it feels OK. I have been biking almost every day, and swimming three days a week, so aerobic-wise I think I will be OK. Joe, sounds good on a DTD meet on Saturday, hopefully I will be able to walk,,,,,

See you all next week!

Yes, I saw that today, too! I was planning on going to Epcot Saturday afternoon, but nothing is set in stone. What were you thinking? For just a drink? And what time? Liz and I had dinner plans at Kouzzina, but if Liz is okay with it, I don't have to eat there.

So long as those running on Sunday don't have an issue with imbibing before their run or aren't tied up at expo. You know...dilly...dally..or maybe dilly-dally. We've got an ADR in the MK for lunch on Saturday (this will also be my opportunity to showcase my new bling!), but I'm sure I could leave friends at the park and head to DTD to meet Defiant Ducks (and bling down there, too!). :yay:

Hope everything is okay physically, Augie. I just assumed you were doing your usual taper before the half after your LOOOONG 5K. :rotfl: It really amazes me how you run half marathons on so little actual running training. But I hope it's just some winter stiffness and you'll be serving the Ducks proudly up in Corral A next weekend! Keep us posted.

There are non-alcoholic drinks available at Raglan Road. :thumbsup2 I'm not sure if I'll have a drink or not. It would still be fun to get together with everyone.

Hi Ducks! Happy Holidays! Hope everyone is enjoying this time of year. It always goes by too fast I think!

20 of we Ducks are participating in Marathon Weekend!!! :donald: woohoo!

I'm on board with whatever the plan may be for Saturday evening at DTD! I'd like to be back in my room at 9pm..so leave DTD at 8-8:30. I'll eat anywhere. No drinking for me, but as long as there's some beef on the menu I will be happy! :teeth:

Colleen~On Friday night Carissa, Tanya and I are having dinner at DTD together, you're welcome to join us! We're eating at Wolfgang Puck Express (correct, ladies? my memory is bad!). The exact time is to be determined...it depends on the timing of the day's events. PM me if you want to exchange cell phones and we can text that day and meet up at some point. :)

I'd love to meet up with anyone/everyone each morning before the races and get a group pic! :) So if you want to, let's try to think of a good place to meet...it is tricky in those crazy Start areas, but I'm sure we can figure someplace out...hmmm..

Everyone stay well this last week! Eat well, drink well, sleep well...no last minute intense training! (I'm telling MYSELF all of this really..you just get to hear it. lol) I am very undertrained this time, but there's nothing I can do about that now. I think for the first time I may be one of the people you see slathering on biofreeze during the races..maybe even popping some Tylenol as well. This is going to be interesting!!

Hi everyone,

I am checked in to Kidani online and I am bring the suitcase up from the basement tomorrow.
Weather permitting I will have one more run outside this weekend then taking it easy the rest of the week, except for all the park time starting Wednesday.

What time for the get together on Saturday at DTD? The only thing I want to do other than run the half is spend Saturday evening at the MK for the electric parade, fireworks and castle show.

Have a good week everyone, see you real soon!

Joe

Okay, since you started, truth be told, after my 12 miler on Monday, my legs felt like rubber on Tuesday. I had that pain in my thighs where you have to sit down on the toilet like a pregnant lady (and I've never been pregnant! :rotfl:). And I thought, "How is Liz gonna DO this two days in a row?!? She's a much better woman than I!" You go, girl! I really hope it goes well for you.

Just out of curiosity, how much are you running this weekend?

As for meet-ups, my dance card is filling up with Ducks. Friday night at the Studios with Joe, Augie, Carissa (maybe), Karin, and Deb, our honorary Duck. Anyone else? Saturday morning with Liz and Jenny and Joe and all other half marathon Ducky waddlers. Saturday afternoon/evening at DTD with a beer and all Ducks who come to the pond to eat and drink. :thumbsup2

Hi Ducks! Looking forward to seeing you all, for a drop at the Studios and the lights, and at DTD on Saturday. Guess we can talk about a meeting time. Maybe around 3 or so? So we can head to MK.... I might want to make it an early night, as I will be getting up even earlier, I think, to man the water stop. Hoping I can still walk! I am extremly impressed with those that are doing both days, either Goofy or the relay. I have a hard time getting around for a few days. As for Saturday morning, last year I met Joe near one of the first tents. Maybe we can pick a time to meet and walk to the start together? I hope I remember my phone this time.

Have a Happy New Year, and see you real soon!

Oh ducks...what a way to end training. I did my last 10 mile run today. I intended to take it slow and man did I accomplish that goal. Was fine until mile 7 but I was a goner after that. Ended up walking most of the last two miles. Ah well, bad run out of my system I suppose.

At least the long runs are done! Just two really short runs next week.

Good luck to everyone. Happy New Year and safe travels!

Happy New Year! to all the Ducks. party:party:

Almost time to head south for some warmer weather and do some running. Who's getting excited!!
Everyone stay safe and don't pull anything before next weekend.:hippie:

Joe

Happy New Year, Joe, and to all of the Ducks!

See you in a few days!

Everyone - Safe travels.

:)

Happy 2012 Ducks!! :donald:
Just a note about this thread...if anyone has the desire to start the new year's thread you are welcome to! I am happy to do it again though and if no one else wants to I will start the new one sometime after marathon weekend..since that is the end of the "Disney running year". :)

Halfers: That sounds good to meet at a tent then walk to the start, Augie. Is there a particular tent you remember? I'll be on a bus from POP by 4. We are to be in corrals at 5 right? and it takes 20 to walk to start? So should we meet at 4:30? Take a quick group pic with whoever is there then head right to the start...use porta potties one last time then get in corrals?

Saturday afternoon/evening DTD meet: How about meeting at 4pm? That seems to be in between the times mentioned or alluded to. lol We are meeting at Raglan Road right?

Sunday full/relayers: We could do the same thing...meet up at 4:30 at a certain tent?

Let me know what y'all think! :)

LOL...not better, maybe dumber?? ;)

I ran 5 yesterday and 6 today.

You are right, you got that bad run out of your system and you are good to go now! :thumbsup2

Sounds good Liz. I'll be at Raglan Road on Saturday and the meet on Sunday morning. (But then, I'll likely be on the bus with you Sunday morning too...:))
