I can assume that both of these are extremely different but I need some advice. DH is not interested in spending 3 1/2 hours with learning and playing with dolphins so we will not spend $150.00 (or less with AP discount) on this tour; on the other hand, I am most definitely intrigued with this as I LOVE ANIMALS!!
Has anyone done this tour by themselves and what do you think about it?
Or is it better for the two of us to spend $110.00 and check out the backstage safari - he said he would be more likely to try this. What did people like/dislike about both and which one is worth the money or the experience?

Hi, from a fellow New Englander!

I can let you know about the Backstage Safari. My DH and I did this on our January trip. I thought it was very interesting. The group was small and our guide very knowledgable. We got to pat one of the black rhinoceros's, saw the elephants playing, met a rothschild giraffe and got to touch a small alligator. You are taken behind the scenes of conservation station also. Unfortunately there were no operations or procedures scheduled during our visit, but you could get lucky and see something up close. We also got our own private safari tour. The normal story line audio was turned off and our guide gave us lots of inside information.

As for the dolphins, if you really wanted to do this, then I would plan a day at Discovery Cove. You and your husband could both go and he would pay less if not swimming with the dolphins. There is snorkeling with the stingrays, a nice beach that you can relax and get a drink at and other things that can pretty much take up a whole day. I just think you get a little more for your money there.

We haven't tried Dolphins in Depth, but did do the Backstage Safari tour this past January. We did exactly the same things as Tammi, only we touched a small snake instead of an alligator. We loved this tour and our guide was great:D We learned so much information and were very happy we tried this tour:D Have fun whichever you choose!
