Does stripping the bed really get you clean sheets?

If I've taken the sheets off the bed at WDW and left them in a pile (due to a spill or something) I've always received fresh sheets.

I do that after the 3rd night, and they're alwasy fresh when I come back.

I was at POP last week and in the information they gave me at check it, it said they change them every 4 days. And they did, because there was already a pen/pencil mark on my sheet and I specifically checked to make sure it wasn't there on the 4th day.

Many of the resorts at Disney participate in the Florida Green Lodging program.

At 80% occupancy, there are about 45,000 beds at Walt Disney World, give or take. Times two sheets per bed, that's about 90,000 sheets.

Changing the sheets once every three days, or when a guest checks out helps conserve millions of gallons of water, every day. The same goes for towels in the bathroom.

Disney will of course be happy to change out the sheets and towels every day for a guest. But the standard is to help conserve water and resources.

At the end of my hotel stays I always pull and ball ALL the bed linens and lay them onto the floor. This way I know the next guest gets fresh linens (including a bedspread). Although HK should be changing linen between guest, I rather not give them the opportunity to slack-off; forcing them to change the linen.

Hopefully the previous guest follows the same practice.

I also travel a lot for work, both domestically and internationally.
Most of the large hotel chains (even Westin with their "Heavenly Bed" promotion), do not change sheets every day. They often leave some sort of written indicator that you can leave on the bed requesting the change if you so desire. Most have gone to a 3 or 4 day routine change.
Personally, I think this is acceptible and environmentally sound practice. I do not change my sheets everyday at home.
And even though I like, and expect, to be pampered on vacation, I care about the environment that I am fostering for my grandchildren.
So to OP, if you strip the bed and ball up the sheets, your beds will most certainly be made up with clean sheets. But just because your mother did that in a less environmentally aware time, does not seem to me to be a great practice.

As a kid whenever we went of family trips I can remember my mom completely stripping the beds in the AM saying if we didn't do that they would just remake the bed with the dirty sheets. Does this hold water? I haven't done it on any of our trips, but lately I've been thinking about my mom a lot and I remembered her doing this...

Just curious...

Stripping the beds may not guarantee you'll get clean sheets. SHi**ING the bed will but you may not want to do this on purpose ! :rotfl2:

When I was out west, the hotels actually asked that people to use their same towels a couple of times and stated that they did not wash the sheets everyday unless of course, a new guest arrived.

I use the same towel at home for a few days. I thought everybody did that until I met my boyfriend who uses a new towel for each shower.

I do the same thing! :thumbsup2 Especially if I stay only ONE night!

my Ds who is a special needs child and is in adult diapers. We request this when we check in and we just strip HIS bed every morning to make sure he gets clean sheets. We don't do this for everyone in the family just DS. We just take them off, roll them up and put them in the bathroom with the used towels etc. We also make sure to tip daily as this is above what is expected from Mousekeeping.
