I posted this on the Community Board first.. I think it probably belongs here...so forgive for the double post!

Hi there... I have been reading and reading away here... With all the snow around.. haven't been doing much of anything else I am sad to say!! Anyway... I have a question for all you experts over here. I (as you can see by my tag) have started a nasty little habit called travelling Solo! In the past 2 years I have been to Disney 6 times. A few days each time. I am in the process of planning my next quick journey down. Now.. I tend to stay Deluxe... or Moderate... for my stays. I am an AP holder.. so I usually get AP rates... but even if I don't... I like for my stays to be comfortable.. and I don't often do sit down meals when alone.. so... a kitchen area would be great for me.... I am seriously considering buying into DVC (and like most everyone I am kicking myself for walking past the stands years ago when they first came out!!) But Oh well.... So.. Here's the deal. I am hesitating only because I am single.. no prospects.. and I travel solo most of the time. Most DVC owners seem to be families or couples.. or a couple of family members..... Does it make sense for me to buy into DVC??? I really dont' see any downsides? but maybe someone else will... Opinions???

Thanks!
kathy

If it will save you money and you plan on continuing to go to WDW, I don't see how being single should really stop you. A studio with the fridge and microwave may be a very nice accomodation for you, given what you describe. If plans change down the road, you can always sell and have some comfort that DVC will hold it's value. Oh, one thing I think you may want to check out is the point charts. If you plan going mainly on weekends, you'll see how high the points are for those times, and that may be discouraging. Another option for you is to rent points and try it out. Good luck, and here's hoping you meet someone who shares your interst in WDW, could be just around the corner.

Ah... my dream.. to meet someone who is as in love with Disney as they are with me!! I am very fortunate to have a job (and boss) that allows me to use my vacation time pretty much whenever I want... so.. I could avoid the weekends...

I'm single and own DVC. A very good friend of mine is single and owns DVC too. I'm content with staying in the studios and just having the kitchenette.
My original plan was to just use my DVC points for Sun - Thur. night stays and then find a good cash rate for a hotel on the weekends. It's woked out pretty well so far.
I knew the add on bug would bite and it did and I scratched it. LOL. This will give me the option to stay weekends if I want or to get a one or two bedroom when I need. i.e. this coming October, my sister will be along with her family. We'll do 3 nights at AKL and then 5 nights DVC.
So, ummm, yes I have a point. It sounds like it'd be worthwhile for you to buy into DVC.

You're a perfect candidate for DVC! You appear to have the flexibility to travel whenever you like and love Disney. To coin an oft' used phrase...Just Do It!!!
