Except you are citing single rides.....Avatarland appears to be an entire land, i.e. Tomorrowland or Fantasyland
I don't think this is true. I think you are looking at an area smaller than New Fantasyland which has Mermaid, Belle and 7DMT. Avatarland (or "area") will likely have one or two rides. One for sure. I think the second may have gotten scrapped.

but if you ask many people younger than teens....they don't even know what the movie is, let alone whether they like it or not.

These youngsters will be just the right age when the next 4 movies come out. You can't forget that Avatar is not a "movie". It is a "franchise" that is going to roll out over the next 10-15 years. The theme park area is really pre-dating the franchise. So let's not write it off until it rolls out and evolves.

Since I have not see the movie and have no real clue about the movie, I really have no interest in this area. The trailer did not draw me in to want to see it so I have not. I may or may not see the movie before this area is opened, but I do not feel it fits within the Disney theme. It seems like Disney is grabbing what is popular now when they make decisions and not thinking about what might not be popular in the future. If this had been a Disney owned film then it would have made at least a little sense.

As it stands now, I enjoy going to AK. I have even made special trips just for Safari or FotLK when I hop the parks. Once this area is opened, I probably will check it out if I have time, but I will not be making a special trip just to see it.

I didn't vote. I'm excited that AK is being expanded and there will be more attractions etc. I'm not so excited about the theme. While I was okay with the original park plan for mythical creatures in Beastly Kingdom ..... not so sure I'm feeling the blue aliens and another planet. I don't even like Stitch.

I didn't like the movie and couldn't care less about the attraction.

The movie did absolutely nothing for me,I went to see it like everyone else for the visuals, you can however still get bored even with the visuals as I fell asleep watching the movie.Having said that I voted yes because I don't need to love a movie to enjoy a theme park attraction.Avatarland is supposed to have a Soarin style ride and a boat ride, both of which if done well will be a great addition to AK.

Except it's not popular now. The movie came out a little over 5 years ago and no one talks about it. It was popular for a short amount of time. While I am only one person, I totally forgot about the movie until I read about Disney making a land based on the movie. I'm sure many others were like me and have forgotten about it too.

I am not excited about the land. I did not enjoy the movie. The story was unoriginal and the characters were pretty bland. Some of the visuals were stunning, but that didn't make up for everything else that failed to me. I watched it in full twice and fell asleep the second time and saw bits and pieces of it during its entire run in theaters because I worked at one. But I will try not to judge it too harshly before we really even see anything other than some concept art. I just wish they would go with Beastly Kingdom. That would be more fitting than something tied to a non-Disney movie.

I'm very excited, so is my bf. I loved the Avatar movie and have watched it more than once. I think the land's going to be gorgeous, and I can't wait to ride on a banshee. :goodvibes

Yes, the movie put me to sleep too....twice. But I'm happy to have new attractions to visit regardless of the theme.

I watched the movie once. Good visuals, one or two interesting ideas, incredibly bland story with painfully simplified morals. Did not need to be anywhere near as long as it was. Will not watch again.

But I'm interested in visiting the land anyway because I expect Disney to deliver good rides and good atmosphere. *shrug*

Yes, I am very excited about this property.

I am not excited because of the existing or any future storylines. The story is lame--it is, essentially, Pocahontas, and we all know how that worked out.

But, the visual palette is flush with opportunity. The flora, fauna, and geography of Pandora are amazing, and if the Imagineers are given at least moderately free reign to bring it to life, the results could well be spectacular. However, it is important to note that I don't care if they (and in fact don't want them to) create "Avatar." I want them to create Pandora.

Personally, I could not make it through the movie. Bored me and the kids to tears but DH loved it. I would rather have current things updated than a section dedicated to a movie many people could care less about. Epcot could be amazing for the money they are dumping into Avatarland.

not initially, I enjoyed the movie but the ongoing franchise is going to be a 'wait and see' with the forthcoming movies. I'm not convinced it will have the pulling power of what Harry Potter has done for Universal or the potential of a Star Wars Land, but the concept art and theming look impressive and more importantly it will stretch the parks hours into the nightime. Still I think there are plenty of opportunities to incorporate more Disney properties into the park such as Jungle Book, Lion King etc

This scares me, If this is where Disney is heading. IMO, that is what universal does, and I go to Disney because I love how (almost) every decision was a very rational one. Doubt it, they took almost 20 years to add another Little mermaid ride, but I digress.

Pandora, in the movie, was visually magnificent. If Disney is able to capture that beauty, and bring it to life in this expansion, I will be very excited about it, and see no reason why it would not remain popular, even if the upcoming sequels don't do well.
