I didn't see the movie but I'm happy about the new land. Not because it's such a great fit for the park or anything (although it's not a bad fit) but because it should look really cool (like IoA's Jurassic Park only better) and especially because they're adding 2 new rides, which AK desperately needs.

After Avatarland I hope they will re-design DinoLand with better/different themeing and at least 2 entirely new rides. Preferably one really big and imaginative coaster (on the scale of Everest or Busch Garden's Sheikra) plus something tamer, for example a trackless dark ride like Ratatouille in Paris.

Avatar blows every SW movie out of the water in terms of "success".
What is your definition of success? If it is based off of box office gross the only reason Avatar outperformed Star Wars is that movie tickets cost more in 2009 than they did in 1977. In terms of ticket sales Star Wars sold nearly double the amount of tickets.

Yes, because it gives the crowd somewhere to go so I can see things I like at more leisurely pace!

I am excited that there are going to be new and innovative rides and attractions in AK. I really don't care one way or another about their relationship with the movie Avatar. Even if a person hated the movie, they might love the ride.

There are some who have already made up their minds that they will not like this addition. That is puzzling.

I've never seen Avatar and likely never will. I'm sure the park will have some cool rides that I will want to visit, I just have no interest in the theme.

I vote yes. Not a super fan of the movie, but loved the concept art, and am always excited about major developments in the parks!

I'm not foaming at the mouth or anything, but at this point, no, I'm not interested at all.

I will wait and see. But some of the cast members at AK that I talked to said they want to work in that area when it opens

Looking forward to it ... feels like a better fit than the "DinoLand USA" they made. (Not sure why they didn't make a Jurassic Park looking Dino Land (feels like it was going to be that when they had just the Dinosaur ride there . then they added that weird carnival section that just didn't seem to fit with the ride already there.

Since no one knows what this new land will consist of yet, it seems pointless to get worked up one way or the other. And I don't see why success or failure of the sequels should have any direct impact on the success or failure of the attractions in Pandora. If they are a good attraction they will stand on their own merit. HM was a fan favourite for decades before the movie. Same with POTC. It remains popular even though the last sequel tanked.

I agree, the movies themselves should have little impact on the success of the attractions. Star Wars was wildly successful and the ride has low wait times, but Jedi training the opposite. And nearly all of the rides and attractions with the longest waits have nothing to do with actual movies.

Funny, I've not seen the movie Avatar because our child was born the same year and I'm not a movie buff who needed to see it.

Then, after AvatarLand was announced (and we had already purchased DVC), I've kinda' made it a point not to see the movie.

Regardless, I am looking forward to AvatarLand if for no other reason than Animal Kingdom may be my favorite Park (I vacillate with MK) and turning AK into a longer day would be nice for everyone.

I won't guess about rides and attractions, but I am thinking that there is going to be a Signature restaurant (which was mostly unnecessary until the night Rivers of Light show begins).

I've seen the Avatar movie, but its not one that I'll normally watch if I'm channel surfing. Did I like it? Yes. On just the merits of the movie, do I think it deserves a land at Animal Kingdom? No. Am I excited to have this addition to AK? Sure...bring it on!

There are plenty of attractions at Disney that I enjoy, but have no particular interest in the movie/media it represents. Even at AK, Dinosaur is a good example. I enjoy the attraction, but have no particular emotions about the movie. Same with Splash Mountain at MK. Don't even remember what movie it's associated with and don't have much association with the characters, but its a great attraction.

Granted, Avatarland is a land, not just a single ride, but I'm hoping the imagineers make it an immersive experience...whatever my reaction to the actual Avatar movie and its sequels may be.

I'm glad that Avatar land is pushing Disney to keep DAK open at night and offer a night time show

Over Christmas, I finally got to experience EE in the dark (~8:30 pm). The queue with full fog effect at night, And the ride.... WOW!!!!
Why has Disney been holding back on nighttime EE all this time!

I'm sure the land will be visually stunning, but I just don't see the point of it. The movie seemed to be wildly successful....for that year. It doesn't seem to be a legacy movie to me, and I'm not sure its fanbase will stand the test of time like Harry Potter or Star Wars. I can't help but view this whole project as them scrambling to find something to upstage WWOHP & making a rash decision in the process.

I feel the land would be much more positively received if they dropped Avatar, but kept James Cameron & had him co-create the Beastly Kingdom land that got pushed off the table. People would stop comparing it to WWOHP & the success would have no connection to the success of his next movies. I also think Mr. Cameron would have done an amazing job bringing those Beastly Kingdom concepts to life.

All that said, I'm excited they are building SOMETHING new, & I'm sure the effects & the visuals will be fantastic.

In terms of ticket sales Star Wars sold nearly double the amount of tickets.
Only domestically. Not worldwide. And WDW draws from a worldwide audience. I'm guessing that there will be BTGs coming to see Avatarland. And SW expansion.

I'm in a very small minority, but I never saw the film, and don't know that I will watch it before the park opens. I'm just going to wait to see what actually materializes in the park and see what happens.

We're very excited about it. We're not fanatics of the movie at all. It was a bit entertaining but nothing more. However, that land being brought to life is another story. Animal Kingdom is already our favorite park. Not necessarily because of the animals, but because of the atmosphere (which the animals are just a part of). This is only going to enhance the atmosphere, with the addition of new rides, plus making AK a night time park.

That movie is already old by industry standards... By the time this is even built, if it will be, it's going to be even older! Move on find some new movie and grab on to that! The marvel comics franchise has popped out like 9 movies already!

I am more excited about the SW developments at DHS. My concern about Avatarland is that it will have no long standing impact/legacy on the entertainment landscape and become an after thought over time (kind of like it already has become to me). However, I suppose new rides and attractions are a good thing.

Excited is not the word, but I am curious to see what they do with it. The movie is pretty but has a weak plot and mostly trite and uninteresting characters, so I would assume they are going to focus on scenery and other visuals.

After seeing the concept art and the 'leaked' plans as well as current aerial construction photos, I'm super excited. I think it's going to be stunning and the Banshee ride (if built to the current concept) will be amazing.
