Does Anyone NOT make PS's?

Everytime I make PS's for my DH and I, we never seem to keep them. We'll be back in the World May 20-27th, and I don't think I'll make any PS's this time around.

Does anyone else just "chance it"?

If I'm going for a week and am not traveling alone, we make plans every other day for PS. On the "off day" we wing it, eat wherever it suits us at the time, even if we have to wait a bit. It's nice to not have to live by a schedule when on vacation.

But this next trip I'm going alone (in May) and I plan on making no PS beforehand and just going with what I feel at the time, I can't wait :earsgirl:

my family doesnt make PS's, and neither did my friends family when i went with them last year. we always chance it. a 30 minute wait is usually the max, and im so used to getting that when i go out to eat with friends anyway here at home so its nothing to us. we also dont do many sit down dinners anyway. Always on the go go go!

It really depends on how many people, where we want to eat, and when we want to eat. If you can go with the flow and maybe settle for a counter-service restaurant if you can't get a table by walking up then you don't have to make that many PS's.

But, if you want to see the fireworks from The California Grill or have breakfast with the at the Castle then you will need a PS. I have actually been able to get a table for the fireworks at the CG with out a PS (very lucky). Good Luck!!!

Posted this before, but I think it is relevant to this question.

I think the new dining plan is going to have an immense effect on WDW restaurants. With the MYW plan, people who normally do not eat all of their meals at Disney table service restaurants now will be eating at them for their entire stay. For example, we typically go for eight days, and historically have utilized Diseny table service restaurants maybe four or five times per trip. We have favorite offsite restaurants that we have always frequented.

However, this year with the plan, which is too good a deal to pass up, we have already booked 10 PS. I don't think my family is unique in this respect--this plan will make Disney restaurants MUCH MUCH busier than in the past, and I believe that PS is going to be absolutely necessary for anyone who does not want to experience unreasonable waits.

You can always cancel them when you get there, but I think PS are wise this year, particularly at any of the restaurants that are accepted on the MYW dining plan.

I totally agree.

Of course, some people are content eating all or almost all of their meals at counterservice restaurants. If you study the menus on allearsnet.com, there are some that seem healthy and/or different than the normal burgers and hot dogs.

I think you can wing it except during summer months and spring break. I will be there May 20- 29 though and am worried about how crowded it will be, many schools are starting to get out. And then there is the concern with the new dining plan. I have a few PS for the one's I don't want to miss, but will be winging the rest of our meals--especially since we are trying to do a n exteremly laid back trip with my being pregnant. Good luck to you!

I always make at least one - usually two PS for each day of our trip. We usually only end of canceling one or two of them for whatever reason. I've never felt that we were tied to a plan I was unhappy about. I like to know which park is next on my agenda. We've probalby not needed our PS many time - we go in pretty low seasons (except maybe this time - we leave on Friday - I hope it won't to TOO crowded) - we are usually a party of two to four people - we eat early, but I like knowing that when I go up to the podium they will seat me soon. I don't want to "see if they have room". I like to know they are expecting me. That's just me. I can understand the way others feel, but to answer your original question - I always make PS.

I PS for must do's, if I decide I want to try something else while there I PS by dialing 55 at my resort in the AM. You can also use your cell phone and call for a PS when you are there--did this over Feb. break. Standby line at Brown Derby was about 55 minutes--called using cell phone for PS and was given a time 15 minutes later than it was--I could check in right away and was seated.
I always make PS's for times I know will be crazy busy--Easter (week) Sunday, Mother's Day, July fourth, etc.

I never do PS and I am rarely disappointed, even during busy times of the year. This summer we are going with another family who hasn't been before so I will make PS for the most popular and perhaps only 3 or 4.

I agree Mike. We had a group of six and that seemed to make a difference. We made one PS each day and it worked out great. We only had to cancel one reservation and avoided wait times of at least 30 - 40 minutes. Guess I just a planner but since there is so much to do at WDW no one wanted to waste time waiting for a meal.

I don't make PS ressies.

Because we like to go with the flow and have no clue until we leave what park we will be doing, my kids couldn't deal with jumping somewhere else for a meal.

I have given more thought to the idea of trying one-ONE day.

We do counter service or will wait for a reasonable time to eat somewhere we would like to try. Waiting 30 minutes up to possibly an hour would be no different than trying to get in a rest. in South Florida in "season".

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! :cool1:

I may make one or two; we would rather do a sit-down meal as opposed to counter service. And as some said, I can always cancel them once I'm there.

I don't think we've ever made a ps and have never had an issue. We eat later then most people so wait times are never long. Besides we never know what park we'll be at until we wake up that morning.

I usually make ressies as soon as I know I'm going. This time, however, I'm 20 days out and still haven't decided what I want when. So I may make some ressies the week before we go and we'll wing it for the rest.
