All,

Does anyone know what the Thumbs.db file is and what can be done with it? I would assume it is a database file of some sort, but why is it created, and what use is it? It is in every picture folder that I create.

Hmm. That's interesting. Thanks. I should actually try to search the web before asking, huh? ;) I always just figure the people here have more info. I wonder if this file can be used to create thumbnail images that are useful in any way? That might be interesting. It is a little annoying, but if it has some use, I guess it is ok. Can't delete it anyways!

You should be able to delete it. I always set Windows Explorer to view details, set all folders to the same, then uncheck the option to have different settings for different folders (and then use PowerDesk instead of Explorer), so I never get them, and always delete them from I get them in a folder of pictures from anyone else.

To stop these very useless files from being created goto windows explorer, click on tools, click on folder options, click the view tab and look for an option that says Do not cache thumbnails and check it. Those files will no longer be created

OK - this is to funny! I just noticed that same file today, I had never noticed it before!? Then after reading the linked article I know why - I loaded a few new actions into my PS4 software, and in doing so had to click on "show all hidden files" - which this one usually is! Well, now that I know I can turn it off, I think I will!! Certainly can use less clutter on my computer anyway!!! Thanks for all the info!
Blessings,
