Does anyone feel that the New Food Network Shows are really bad

My husband and I love Jamie Oliver and his new shows. The Downhome with the Neelys is okay, I like him but she gets on my last nerve. Who I really, really can't stand though is Giada. I literally feel like smacking her. I grew up with grandparents right from Italy and they NEVER spoke like she does. Why does she feel she needs to "Italianize" certain words. She sounds ridiculous. Even my grandfather, who spoke very broke English, never pronouced words like she does. As if she has to prove she's Italian. Give me a break.... and why, oh why must her ****s be constantly hanging out????

I like Jamie Oliver and his philosophy about food and cooking. The Neely's show is okay. I would not miss Simply Deliciosos if it was dropped from the program ranks. The one Food Network show I absolutely detest is Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee. Why this woman has a television show about cooking is mystifying.

LOL! And her hyprocritical message that semi-homemade approach saves money. --*if* there is any money to be saved from her 'food' shortcuts (the episode where she scrape the filling from an apple pie to place in another pie tart with canned apple pie filling is infamous in our family)--you'd lose all that money trying to re-create her horrendous tablescapes. And who changes their kitchen daily to match the color of their food???:lmao:

Same goes with Paula Deen for me. Her "Paula's Party" is pure torture! I used to love watching her cooking show, but I can't take it any more. She's too impressed with herself now.

::yes::

I used to love watching her show but this one ruined it for me. It seems like she has to lick someone or something on every show...:confused3 Very disappointing because I always thought she was so sweet and her sons were adorable.

The newer shows also drive me crazy and add me to the list of DISers who can't stand listening to the wife on Down Home with the Neely's. <<<shudder!!!>>>

I do not like any of the new shows.

I want them to have a Chinese cooking show!! It is the Food Network, isn't it? Why no Chinese food?

I loved Martin Yan "Yan can Cook!" Would love something like that.

The worst, though, is Sandra Lee. She'd have plenty of time to make actual homemade food if she didn't spend so much time on her silly "table-scapes." irritating.

I love Paula but HATE Paula's Party! :scared: Yesterday while channel surfing I stopped there and she was "sexually harassing" some poor cowboy.... ... the guy looked like he was going to die of embarrassment! :lmao:

Sandra Lee ORIGINALLY tried to market herself as the next Martha Stewart and was more of a decorator than a "cook".. duh... Her silly tablescapes, which I never see because I turn the channel before she shows them, is an offshoot of that so called "talent"

I thought I was the only one who does not like Down Home With the Neely's. Maybe the show would be somewhat tolerable if it was just the husband. The wife needs to go!

The only one that I sorta like is Down Home...but I have to say that even when I do see it on, I usually only watch maybe 5 minutes or so and turn it. That Jamie Oliver -- oh brother, cannot stand him. I really don't like the Simply Delicioso's food at all. I'm always thinking 'who would eat that'? I guess I just like the originals...Paula, Rachel, Giada, and my favorite Ina! Her food makes me want to eat the t.v.!

Oh, and I wish they'd bring back a low carb cooking show too.

I enjoy Giada, Paula, Sandra, Rachael, Barefoot Contessa, and Tyler Florence. They just need low carb and Chinese food and I'd be a happy camper :thumbsup2

There used to be a show with Ming Tsai. What happened to him? I really like "Jamie at Home" and want to recreate some of his recipes.

The Neelys are annoying. On the Food Network, there's too much emphasis on "personality" and not so much on food made by people who know anything about it. People like Mario Batali, Anthony Bourdain, and Ming Tsai all went poof! Now we have annoying people like Ina Garten, Paula Deen and Giada DeLaurentiis. And the worst--Sandra Lee and her ugly "tablescapes"!!!

I vote for 24 hours of Rachel Ray!!!:lovestruc

She IS annoying as all get-out, BUT she IS cute as a button.

in my book ;)

I saw one episode of the Neely's...I love southern cooking, so the recipes might be great, but they are super irritating. Online searches seems a safer way to go.

These are the only guys I watch. I usually have them on in the background!! I would LOVE a Chinese show!

The few new shows I have seen all seem to have "seriously hot" ladies as hosts. Gizelle (sp) for one but also that cuban Hoffman hottie.....

To the point where I can't even recall what food they are cooking......

Other than Giada, I must have missed all those shows. In fact, I can't stand how puffy & fatter most of the hosts have gotten.

Tyler Florence has puffed up double in size since his old days on Food 911. It's a shame, because you tell he didn't bulk up in muscle, it's puffiness from unhealthy eating of fats & salt. I just go :sad2: every time I see him or Paula Deen add a full stick of butter to a dish.

I have never cooked anything Mario Batalli had made because I don't want that gut. And Emerl is so loud & verbose, trying to impress everyone, that he reminds me of a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade balloon I wish I could pop & let out the hot air.

Why can't the Food Network institute standards of basic health for their hosts? Why do we need separate shows for "healthy" eating? Can't a dish be made nutritiously, healthily, lower in fat, cholesterol & salt AND be yummy? Aren't these people at the top of their game & should be able to figure out a better way to cook? :teacher: :scratchin

Ming Tsai has a show, but they put on at like 2 am or 8 am when no one is watching. :sad2:

Yeah, RR made the mistake of having her sister on with her once. Verbally, she was so cutting & snipey to her sister, she cut her down to shreds. RR didn't realise what she was doing as she's used to behaving that way with her. But I knew from that moment, that "Cute as a button" perky personality was all an act, in front of the camera. She's never had her sis on since. The producers have probably nixed it.

I'll bet she can be a real shrieking, nasty shrew.

I see nothing cute as a button about RR... she grates my last nerve.... :scared:

Her voice bothers me WORSE than the Neely woman and that takes a LOT~~ :lmao:

still a fan of the food network. I like to get ideas from the shows...
It took a while.. but Guy Fieri has grown on me. He reminds me of the California I miss...

Paula Deen used to cook on her shows.. now everything seems pre done for her... all she does is pour stuff in a pot. She rarely cuts, chops, measures or fully prepares a recipe anymore. Also I don't care for the new kitchen in the new house.. the camera angle always seems odd to me. Be that it may I still check out her recipes online as they have always been successful for me.
Paula's Party is NOT about cooking... she is always yelling loud and being silly for no apparent reason.

Rachel Ray... has stuck to the same successful format. Her recipes are halfway decent and easy to manage.. yes she is overly perky ..

I don't miss Mario... sorry I never got into his show...

The Neeleys.. oh my... I turn the sound off. She is a pain in the patootie... I think it could be a good show.. if the producers would stop the insane, over the top cutesy ness. It all seems tooooo forced... "he keeps stealing my sugar" GAG ME WITH THAT BIG OLD SPOON!!! LOL However I feel the food network DOES need a cooking show that highlights cooking styles of Black families in the USA... I know I learned a whole lot from my husbands family!

I liked the Dean Brothers show. I thought they did well with Road Tasted.

I like Alton Brown. He was another one that had to grow on me.. but once he did I found his shows fascinating. I use many of his techniques... however I refuse to weigh dry ingredients.... I am used to measuring cups! :)

I like Unwrapped and Jim OConner's shows too. They are easy on the brain, entertaining and a nice way to vegitate when need be... ...
