Does anybody answer a call anymore if you dont who it is

I don't have a land line anymore. We all have cells, so no need for us.
I do answer calls for same reasons as others have posted. If it's spam, I hang up and block the number

I dont get junk calls at all on my cell phones- and no one I know has a landline anymore.
I have a landline because of hurricanes. We have had issues with damaged cell towers making the cell phone useless after a storm, but the landline still worked. I have the most basic package I can get to keep the cost minimal, but I won’t be giving it up any time soon.

Ugh. Sometimes? Usually if the person is not in my contacts I don't answer. But, if I am expecting a delivery or have an appt coming up I will answer (the pediatrician likes to "confirm" your appt and if they leave a message you have to call back to confirm it... it is easier to just answer the first time, but they have so many variations on the number it is hard to tell for sure if it is them calling).
I didn't used to get spam calls on my cell, but about a year ago (I've had the number for 10+ years) I started getting junk calls. Not sure who sold my number, but I would love to smack them.

No.

Conversely, if you are calling me from an unknown number, leave a voicemail! What is so hard about telling me why you’re calling so I can call you back? I’m not picking up every unknown number telling me my warranty is expired in the off chance I may be receiving an actual, and rare, call.

I rarely do. Still working on DH who would answer EVERY call and even talk to a recording. He's retired.....I told him to get out there and meet real people! :teeth:

DW had a glitch in her unemployment application a couple of months ago and had to wait for a CSR to call her back. So she had to answer calls from strange numbers on the off chance it was the CSR. It reminded us why we stopped answering calls from anyone not in our contacts list. Lots and lots and lots of spam and telemarketing.

Nope! If they leave a voice message I'll listen. If they don't I do a quick search and usually it's a telemarketer. Or my phone says "Scam Alert" as the "name" of the caller. I then block the #.

We still have a landline because my aunt prefers it to her cell phone. She recently decreased the bill by getting rid of features she thought we didn't need, like Caller ID. So now when the phone rings, we have to answer it. If it's a live person trying to sell me something I politely but firmly say, "take my name and phone number off your list." They are then obligated to do so, I've been told. In any case, it usually works.

On my cell, I just decline the call if I don't recognize the number. Almost nobody has my cell number. I don't give it out except to family and a few friends and my psychiatrist's office. If there's a number space to be filled in online, I put in the landline number.

I found out our high school shows up as "unknown". So while the kids were in school, I answered every "unknown".

Another time I ignored a call, it was the school where my DD was at a track meet, she had been stung by something. I didn't realize, until I got to the track meet and she told me she figured I wouldn't answer to that number.

If the kids borrow a phone and I don't answer, they hang up and call right back so I might get a clue that it's not junk.

No, if I don’t recognize the number I don’t answer. I block the calls immediately on my phone so if they don’t leave a message than too bad.

Never. If no message or my google Inquiry shows up weird, number is blocked immediately.
Landline and iPhone.

Yes, when it comes to my landline. No caller ID on that. No on my cell phone which has caller id. Problem with caller ID is most of my family members have their ID blocked. If a number is displayed, it probably is a wrong number. But I will check the voicemail immediately if a message is left. Of course if I am home, my cell phone is normally off so those messages I won't get right away.
