Doc Mcstuffins and Sofia meet and greet

I had heard late spring/early summer for Sofia, but that's not set in stone. Doc hasn't ever been seen and there's no viable rumors about her yet.

we are heading to the World in December and I am keeping fingers crossed that Sophia and Doc are added to the HandV lunch!! My DD (4) would love it!!

Any idea where Sofia would be located? Which park?

The Dis Jr characters are all in HS so I'd have to think she'll be there. Probably out front of the Show auditorium. Wonder if she replaces Handy Manny? Or just add to the rotation?

Please post as soon as you know that Sofia is out and where. Also if you could keep us up to date as to when Doc might be expected. Friends of ours are visiting WDW in early June and their DD is really hoping to meet Sofia and Doc.

I just posted this in another thread but I will repost here for you.

At a recent press event (last week) I believe the media was told by the Fall. "Soon" was also used but, I'd go with by the Fall.

This is what she looks like. Picture belongs to Theme Park Review on Twitter- 100% not mine and just for reference.

She and Doc currently appear as puppets in the HS show. From what I understand there is no Doc M & G in the plans at this time, or if so no costume has been made yet, but I imagine it may change with her popularity.

Her head is so big it makes the costume look kinda creepy.

Does anyone know why the make all the character head so big for the meet and greet at Hollywood and Vine and outside Disney Junior live? I would have thought Sofia and Doc would have been like the princesses and not as they are.

There are no child CMs for face characters, and as fur characters their heads approximately match the proportions for the cartoon bodies.

A lot of 'human' characters are that way: Lilo, Little Einstiens, Handy Manny, Phineas & Ferb. I think the cartoon look of these characters would make it less believable as face characters. Even characters from the same movie are presented differently. Jasmine and Aladin = face, Jafar = costume.

My DD would actually explode if Sofia is in the parks by the time we go in November! She may not have been about for long but she is a firm favourite of DD, I think Cinderella will have to watch out as I can see Sofia knocking her off the top spot!!

Just slightly off topic, has anyone seen or heard if there are Sofia dresses available in the parks yet? Or plans for them to be on the shelves this year? DD has every princess dress already and I was told that Disney don't do any festive variations for christmas time at the parks (major disappointment! :sad1:) so this would be a great option for her at the BBB if they were to become available! (sorry to hijack the thread a little!) :goodvibes

I saw a Sofia dress on the disney store website today that might work for your daughter:)

Anyone else think this is racist? Doc has been on the air longer. And Sophia is a "princess" because her mom got remarried. Doc is more of a "real" girl, more relatable anyway who aspires to be a professional and help people. It has more of an educational value I think too, teaching kids real life lessons on how to be healthy. I'd rather see Doc in the parks. Disney jr's only African American character and she gets dissed for the whitebread princess. Shame.

I think racist might be a stretch. I think it's just that Disney has had great success marketing princesses and they tend to sell more merchandise. My kids love Doc (as do I), but little girls still gravitate (or are pushed) toward the princess theme at the Disney Jr. target age.

Well, no. But the statement "whitebread princess" comes across as racist. :confused3

Doc and Sofia are both fantastic shows. Doc is a bubbly toy doctor at the ready to help, Sofia is a little girl all who exudes kindness. Both are characters that little girls adore.

The thing is, it's much easier for Disney to market their princesses as it's what most little girls want to be when they grow up. They gravitate towards the characters and merchandise. Disney is going to put more money into what is going to make them more money.

I personally think it's kind of silly to hold a grudge about cartoon characters or get upset over why one is going to debut before the other.

Just so you know, Sofia is Latina and not "White."

And a perfectly innocuous little thread begins its death spiral.

Relax, I was being facetious. I am not holding a grudge about who debuted first. I am more skeptical if Doc will ever debut. Disney is pretty blatant about their "whitewashing" though, dont you think?
