Do your kids get 104 days of summer vacation?

DS counted it out. If you don't count weekends, he has 50 days of Summer vacation.

Just wondering! We are sitting here watching Phineas and Ferb, and my DH wondered how many kids actually get that many days? Ours get 75 this year... June 26-Sept. 6th...

I don't know the official number but it's not much more than 70, 10 weeks. More is too much, imho. I DO wish the schools would teach until the end though. Our schools slack off towards the end and I think the time is wasted.

We get 85 this summer but next summer will probably be less becuase during 2nd semester we are getting almost every Friday off.

looks like we have 76 days off from the time the bell rings 6/7 'till re-entry on 8/22. Our youngest will be a Senior in HS tho...so school wise, I guess summer will get longer for him after next year. His DS gets from 5/2-8/22, another month more ( 34 days) than him. So I guess she gets close, 100 of the 104, and she gets to spend most of them at work!

June 15 is last day. They return on August 29. That's 75 days.

ETA: If I added up my 10 holidays, 15 vacation days and 5 personal days, added in weekends to the vacation days and personal days I'd ahve off:

23 vacation days Dates I used: April 2 - April 24 is 23 actual off days.
9 personal days Dates I used: April 2 - April 10 is 9 actual off days.
10 holidays

I get off 42 days per year. Not too bad.

The P&P "104 days of summer vacation" thing bugged us, too- DD gets 76 (June 10- Aug 25). I got so curious that I actually counted the days from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and, VOILA! there are approx 104 (depending on the year)!!

So the answer is, P&P get out of school on Memorial Day weekend and don't go back until the day after Labor Day. Don't know of any schools in the US that actually have that schedule, but the Tri State area schools sure do! P&P are lucky.

I never knew there was so much variation in number of days for summer holidays! My kids will be disappointed to learn that there's no where we could move to that would give them those magical 104 days though...

82 summer vacation days here! We are going an extra 3, due to snow days this year...but school is starting a week later next year.

Well, they haven't announced it yet but the original calendar says June 3rd but we had a TON of snow days this year. School starts again on Aug 24. They get out before Memorial Day next year and start after Labor Day the following year. They are building new elementary schools and needed the extra 2 weeks I guess LOL

When I was in grades pre k through 12 we got about 75 days of summer. In college I now have about 105. So stay in school kids and you'll finally be able to give a monkey a shower!

The kids get 79 if I just counted right lol. Their last day was May 30 and they go back Aug 20. We never got out in may, it was at least June 1 before we got out of school. I went to college through the summer as well, so I never got my 104 days.

It is around 80...we are 25 days in to the vacation already

Generally it's required by law that students get something like 180 school days, so 104 days of summer vacation is impossible.
