Do your kids get 104 days of summer vacation?

Ive never counted but my kids have been off officially for 2 weeks now.

My DD10 is driving me crazy already, I told her the other day I may have to send her to daycare this summer and she said OK and thought that was cool and even told me which one she would like to attend.... SAVE ME!

DS last day of school was Thursday, May 30.
First day of school is Thursday, August 15.
76 days.

BUT, it's mandatory to register every year. That starts the week of Monday, August 5 and there are assigned days for each grade. DS is Thursday, August 8. Technically, students are still on summer vacation but you can't be gone for the whole week because missing registration is not an option (per the school system).

And for DS, marching band camp starts Monday, July 29 and lasts right up until school starts.

So for him, 59 days. 45 less than P&F have. :rotfl2:

Just wondering! We are sitting here watching Phineas and Ferb, and my DH wondered how many kids actually get that many days? Ours get 75 this year... June 26-Sept. 6th...

We get less than you. Ours started June 26th but DD starts back Sept 3rd. It's been so hot and humid here I could really go for Swinter :rotfl2:.

Zombie thread but............my kids first day of vacation was today June 28th and they go back Sept 3rd so 67 days.

This year we ended on 6/21 and go back on 9/8. It's longer than usual. Normally we end the last Friday in June and go back the Wednesday after Labor Day.

My DD got out on June 14 and she goes back on August 12, so 58 days. She just went from year round school to our district's new balanced year where they are starting early this year.

85 days for us in a district in suburban Detroit. Out June 13, back Sept. 6. It's plenty long enough for me. ;)

9 and a half weeks. So about 65ish. Today was the last day of school and they go back September 4th I think.

Interesting how the American schools have such a longer break than Canada. Our schools tend to go to the end of June and start again just after Labour Day.

I think ours get about 75. If I weren't too lazy to look up the exact date they start back I could tell you exactly.

I wouldn't mind them having less summer vacation if
... they had a couple of odd weeks scattered in different seasons (at least 1 during WDW value season, naturally)
and
... they also allowed for more flexibility if parents decide to take their kids somewhere for a few days or a week. Since they don't have this flexibility, I'm glad the kids at least have a decent summer vacation for trips, family time, camps, or whatever. All of these things are educational too!

My DD just told me yesterday that her summer vacation is 68 days (I think that's what she said). Last day of school was today (June 28th) and they go back on September 3rd.

My last day is May 11 (the official last day is May 13, but my last exam is the 11th, so I'm done then) and I go back August 22nd, so that's somewhere around 103 days. But, I'll be spending May, July, and half of August taking summer classes, so it's not all that great :rotfl:

Also, I'm in college. So tell your kids they might get their 104 days of summer vacation if they just stay in school :rotfl:

That's pretty close to the public school year here, but they go to the end of May, and go back about the same time, so that's about 90 days of summer vacation, plus a week for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Christmas, 1 week for Presidents day and 1 week for Easter. Thanksgiving break used to be just 2 days not 5, and President's Day used to be 1 day, but now they take a week, not sure why that changed, but both changed about 10 years ago. Oh, and 2 years ago, they made every Thursday a half day.

Looks like 75 for us. Last day of school was June 21 and we got back August 26. Our last day of school was scheduled for June 10th but then we had 4 snow days and 5 hurricane days to make up.

Old thread, but I'll play!

The last student day here was Thursday, June 13. Kids start back to school on Wednesday, August 28th. That's 75 days of summer vacation. The teachers have fewer days; we had a full day on June 14, and report back to school on Monday, August 26.

This year, we had the following holidays: Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, 4.5 days off at Thanksgiving, 7 days off for Christmas/New Year's, MLK Day, a week in February, a week in April, and Memorial Day. We also had 3 snow days, for a total of 175 student in-school days.

Right now, it feels like summer vacation will go on forever, but I know the next 8 weeks will fly by. I'd really rather be in a year-round district, where they still get a substantial summer break (6 weeks?) but also have vacation weeks dispersed throughout the year. Value season at Disney, anyone? :thumbsup2

We're getting a paltry one this summer :( A whopping 63 days!!! LOL! Thanks to 6 snow days, we get out June 28.... and for the first time, they've decided to start school prior to Labor Day on August 31 this year because they want to make sure that if we get snow days again next year, the school year won't get out so late. My girls are NOT happy!!! :rotfl:

I live in Ma and thankfully my superintendent was conservative so we did not have as many snow days. We got out on June 21 BUT have to go back August 26. SOOOO stupid. We go back for 3 days then have off for Labor Day. Going back before Labor day is the pits.
