Now I'm confused. I always thought you were supposed to tip Mousekeeping. But if they are not allowed to keep it, and have to turn it over to some un-named charity, what is the point? I prefer to pick my own charities to give to, thank you very much.
I doubt seriously that the mousekeepers have to turn over their tips to a charity. It just doesn't make sense to me. I can understand a no tipping policy for the parks and CM's in general, but not mousekeepers. I think when Walt made the statement about not tipping that was at a time he didn't have any hotels. As far as the "rule book" that some are talking about, again, I don't think it really applies. Not metioning mousekeepers as a tip position is not the same thing as saying they are not allowed to keep tips. When we go this November I will be asking several mousekeepers as well as Front Desk, head of housekeeping and the General Manager. Hopefully with all of those answers I will have the truth. When I come back I will post it. If anyone goes before me and wants to ask these people and report back here I would greatly appreciate it.
Again, I don't think that this is a right/wrong issue. Everyone will need to make their own personal decision as to what is right for them. For me, I tip.
MARCH 13, 2007 - DISNEY HERE WE COME! WOO HOO
We actually got them each day of our 6 day stay at PO-FQ. that was COOL. till then we had only gotten them once in all our stays and tahtwas our fainl stay in eth Poly con. several years back. itw aas juts eth coolest surprise. but that's neietrh here nor there. Yep, we tip but to be honest, until the DIS boards had influence on our vacation to WDW we didn't. It never even occured to us to do it.
We don't ever travel other than to WDW every 3 or so years so we were both babes-in-the-woods when we started on the whole what and who to tip scene.
