I tip daily, and usually about 5 dollars a day.
Yeap,we Tip Eaveryday And Have Always Gotten Some Kind Of Washcloth Animal ...every Time!!!

We just got back today. We stayed at the AKL and had mediocre mousekeeping services. The beds were made and the trash emptied. That's it. I tipped $5 the first day, but when I saw that nothing else was touched, I stopped for the rest of the trip. We even came home to towels still on the bathroom floor (we put them there because of the little sign saying to hang them on the rack if you want to use them again, but place them on the floor if you'd like new ones). There were new towels on the rack, but the old towels were still on the floor in a wet mess.
We should have said something at the front desk, but we were always running to catch an early bus or hurrying back to the room in the evening to get the kids to bed.
We had envelopes made up $5 for every day. Our first room was horrible, but we didn't get in until 11:00 pm, so we decided to wait until the morning to say anything.
Im sorry but for the amount of dough we fork out each night on a hotel room, the least they could do is change the sheets every day. And finally, mousekeeping isnt a tipped position. I even wrote guest relations about it and they told me that mousekeeping isnt a tipped position and they arent supposed to accept tips. Well not in those exact words, but you get the point.DH and I dont tip mousekeeping. For starters we never make a mess. All we need is just some fresh towels and maybe an extra roll of TP and we're good to go! 2nd of all they dont change the sheets at all each day. That I know of is true because I accidently dropped some chocolate on the sheet on a very small corner and after trying to wipe it up as much as possible, it was hardly noticable unless you looked for it and everyday we came back to the room, same sheets on the bed!Im sorry but for the amount of dough we fork out each night on a hotel room, the least they could do is change the sheets every day. They don't change the sheets everyday unless you request it because they have put in place some "green" programs. The same is true with the towels they don't replace them unless they are on the floor.
IMHO there is no reason to punish mousekeeping because you feel you are paying too much to stay in the hotel. Do you not tip wait staff in the resort restaurants because you are spending too much money on your room?
Mousekeeping is very much a tipped position.....
I don't because MK make at least minimum wage--unlike waitstaff/bartenders, etc., who rely on tips to make up the majority of their income. We are GOOD tippers, too--at least 20% at restaurants (unless something awful happens). I don't look at MK any differently than the other workers at the resort. Should I tip the front desk? Or the person at a CS in the parks? What about the person maintaining the restrooms or the stroller rental?
JMO!
After all, they are cleaning up after us, right?
I'm sure you didn't mean that how it sounded. If people picked up after themselves and put trash where it belonged, there would be a lot less of "cleaning up after us." We're DVC members, get towel and trash pickup on day four of our stay so our tips are small to mousekeeping. When we leave our room, basically all that needs to be done is sheets changed and bathroom cleaned. I'd be embarrassed to leave our room any other way.
Like the PP said. If everyone learned to throw away their stuff IN the trashcan, not next to it, not on top of it, not on a bench, not on the ground (geez how hard is it to place stuff in a trashcan?
) their would be less clean up. And how hard is it to go to the bathroom in the toilet and not on the toilet? I swear I see that ALL the time here at home, especially at the mall
Oh and dont get me started on NOT flushing the toilet. So while the mousekeeping may have to clean a few rooms, someone who cleans the park, has to go through an ENTIRE park. Which is A LOT more then a few rooms. Just IMHO.
