We do but, the amount depends on how well they actually cleaned the room

The problem with what you stated is that you are tipping after your room is cleaned and the housekeeper who comes in the next day may not be the same one who provided the good service. Therefore, you end up tipping the wrong person.

Twice a day five dollars.

Clean up Mousekeepers in the morning and in the evening fore turndown service.

For our trip a few weeks ago, I had my 7yr old niece make up Mousekeeping Envelopes. She colored on them, and put some princess stickers on them too. We tipped a dollar a day per person. What was really neat is that our mousekeeper left my niece a thank you note, along with a little sticker.

I figure mousekeeping is one of the worst jobs, so they deserve the tip.

First off, you're never going to get everyone to agree on this issue. If Disney prints a 'Do Not Tip These People' brochure for the resorts, then I'll follow those rules. I've always tipped housekeeping. No matter where I've stayed.
Second, I feel like housekeeping is more of a personal service. They are cleaning up after me. I'm not a messy person. However, when I'm on vacation, I'm not making the bed or dumping the trash. It's worth a couple of bucks to have someone else do it. I mean, I paid over $1600 for a week, what's $2 a day as long as they do a good job.
Third, I used to be a housekeeper for a large hotel chain. It was a second job for extra money. I worked different floors during the week. That's why I tip every day. It's a lot of work if you do it right. A lot of work for minimum wage.
Last, reality check - There are people losing their jobs all over this country and living out of their cars. :sad2: You don't know what's around the corner. I try to remember that I am blessed to be able to go to WDW. Again, $2/day, no big deal.
Well said, I don't tip out of pity, but rather a sense that I've worked minimum wage jobs before I became a nurse and I know how hard it can be to make ends meet. I tip more out of a sense of karma..right now, I'm doing pretty good financially but tomorrow, I could be injured or disabled and might have to depend on a limited income.

I also agree with the person that said that some people leave their rooms like a disaster area..I tidy up before the mousekeeper comes, that's just how I was raised(ie not to be a pig).
