Do you still read a newspaper?

In this "age" of 24 hour news at our fingertips, do you still read a newspaper? Daily? Sundays only? Once in a while? How have your habbits changed over the years?

I subscribed to the NYT on a daily basis for over 10 years.. They kept raising their prices, so last winter I cut back to Sundays only. (It was around $40/month.) I pick up a local paper a couple of times a month. I like a few commics and the "Dear Abby" type columns. I really don't "use" them for "news" because they are so outdated when I read them. I like the local stuff.

No, I really never read one before the net existed. I don't really know what is going on in the world, I just live day to day.

Someone will talk about something and I will say "when did that happen?" and of course their normal response IS... "where have YOU been? It has been all over the news"...." yeah... I didn't get that, sorry."

I read the free daily we get on the train. It's okay but the news is not always up to date. I don't like any of our local papers.

For actual hard breaking news I prefer the internet, or tv. However, I think the newspapers do better human interest stories and other types of non-hard news.

I like that we have so many choices now. I think esp. with hard news, it's good to be able to compare what one web site is saying compared to another.

Yes, most every day....but not for news, just sports, entertainment, and business.... regular news I get off the net.

I read two papers every day. I just always did. Although many times I have read about breaking news stories here on the DIS first :teeth: . I can let DH know what's going on in the world faster.

I think it's cool here. Local channels actually read the newspaper on tv. Never seen anything like it.

yes. since 9/11 i prefer print media over tv media. i think the tv news outlets sensationalize stuff too much. i listen to news radio and read the washington post every day.

Everyday. I love reading the "local" section of the paper as I find out so much more about what is going on in my comunity. It si the little stuff that would never make the news, that I love to read about.

I'm with caitycaity -- I think the print media does a much better and more thorough job. I can't imagine not reading a newspaper.

Every day. It gives more depth than TV, more local flavor than the Net (or TV/cable networks), and a different viewpoint on issues also covered elsewhere. If a story interests me, I try to get as many angles on it as possible, from as many different viewpoints.

Every morning. I can't imagine turning the tv or the computer on THAT early! Plus, there's just something about reading it that I really enjoy.

Yes everyday, but since I can't get my hometown paper down here, I read the Milwaukee Journal online.

Yes, I have it on my lap right now.

we get the actual "hardcopy" of our local paper Thursday through Sunday. I subscribe to the WSJ online and read my local paper, Washington post, and others online. We don't get our news from television (though we like to watch Brit Hume's show when we have a chance....it's not really news but commentary). So I guess my answer is yes and no. Definitely prefer print media, but not necessarily "paper". We don't have time to read a paper in the morning. Much of the daily news that would be printed in the paper is out dated by 6:00 p.m. Every story and piece in our local paper appears in their online edition, so we don't miss anything by reading it online.

As the wife of a newspaper reporter and the daughter of a newspaper advertising rep I thank all of you for reading the paper! My husband and Mom work really hard to meet their deadlines and make the paper as good as possible.
