do you have to make reservations thru disney to get the free dining?

You can make reservations through AAA. As a general rule, you won't get the AAA discount in addition to free dining. Now someone will show up and say they did, but you aren't suppose to so it appears to be a rare error.

I wish you could make your reservations on the website. That would be SOOO much easier. For as profitable and BIG the Disney company is..you would think they would get their acts together enough to be able to handle the volume to be able to take these reservations online without crashing the site.

last year i booked FD through a TA but this year i plan i going through disney.. so yes you can book through aaa,
