Do You Have A First Night Tradition

After unpacking, we head to Downtown Disney for dinner and then to Ghiradelli's for an ice-cream sundae for dessert. Then we walk around and enjoy the atmosphere, shop at the Disney Store and enjoy the anticipation of the rest of the trip. Last year they had some sort of kid's dance party going on by the lake and the girls had so much fun out there dancing - even my 2-year old got into it.

As AP holders, we usually go to Epcot on our first night for a Spaceship Earth ride, walk around Future World, frolic through the sprinklers/fountain heading towards World Showcase then a walk around all of WS with a visit to one of the countries for counter service and another one for dessert and tea

We always have dinner at Chef Mickey's on our first night, followed by an evening at MK that must include a ride on Buzz, Spectro, and fireworks. I've tried to talk the kids into trying a different restaurant, but all I hear is "But Mom, it's TRADITION!"

We are another Chef Mickey's family. Since we drive and arrive in the afternoon, Chef Mickey's is the perfect spot for dinner and that first taste of the Disney magic we all love. On our last trip, we took the bus to Epcot to activate our AP's, then took the monorail to the TTC. Taking the ferry across the lagoon, so that our first view of Cinderella's Castle is at night from the water, is simply breathtaking! We then hop back on the monorail for the trip to the Contemporary. I'd highly recommend it, especially if your little one likes the monorail!

We go to Boma!!!!!

And we will be there on March 3rd! Yummy!

And then the last day, we go back to Boma for breakfast. And we will be there on March 11th! Bummer - means we are leaving!

We call it our Boma sandwich.

a trip to the Magic Kingdom to see Spectromagic and Wishes. As a matter of fact, I tried to change it for our next trip and was quickly corrected! Ah, I have to admit, that first walk through the train station and the sight of the Castle creates a lump in my throat and a tear of happiness in my eye. It means we're really there!

This will be trip #49 for me. I always get into orlando at around 11 am. take Mears to my resort and check in and leave my luggage...... cause my room in usually never ready. I leave and go right to the MK and have lunch there. Then just walk around until dinner time have dinner and leave just prior to the park closing. Then its back to the room to unpack(luggage has been delivered).
Then usually a swim and walk around the grounds. I have tried many different approaches to the first day but find that its the MK first that really gets me going. One year did not do MK till last day and was not quite the same feeling for me.

I wonder on any given night at Chef Mickey's, how many people are first nighters???

Last year my kids and I Got to enjoy 2 first nights, we were there for a week (went to Chef Mickey's the first night), then hubby came to join us for an additional week! Of course we had to take HIM for his first night Chef Mickey's dinner!

2 first nights in one trip - magical!

We, too, go to Chef Mickey's for dinner, and then hop on the monorail.

It's fun hearing what everyone does for their first night tradition! We have a family tradition too. On our first day and last day we have a pool day and then head over to Benihana's in the DD Hilton and then over to the marketplace for some shopping. On the first night we look, and on the last night we buy! Our March trip will be our first time breaking tradition, as we don't arrive until 1:00 AM. We'll just have to do it the next day!

We always check in and head straight for MK, then to PoC - it's tradition! Then Casey's hot dogs, Spectro and fireworks. When MK closes we wait for the crowd to clear out and slowly walk down Main street, enjoying the beauty of it at night.

We usually arrive in Orlando about 10:30am and we drop our luggage off at the Poly then go to lunch. We come back, get into our room and then off to the Disney Village. We shop until 10:30 at night (God bless my husband and very patient DD). We eat dinner in the Village and just love it there. I look forward to this night so much.

I can hardly wait till Sept.

our first night tradition is epcot for illuminations...what a great way to get in the disney mode...chef mickey's is also a family tradition for us; just not necessarily the first day...

I get in around 5:00 or so usually from Seattle from the morning flight. Check in to my room and well, just my luck, PI is opening at 7:00. Its off to the Adventurers Club!!!

It's so neat to see the traditions of other families!

We drive from Indiana and usually get in mid-afternoon on Sat. We stay off-property the 1st night and don't go to the parks until Sunday. So we unpack and head over to OHana for dinner. Then we take the ferry to the MK and catch the monorail...we ride around the loop as many times as we want and then head back to the Poly to get our car.

This June, we're going to try to catch the Electric H2O pagent before we head back to our hotel.

Room Service at the BWV!!

I don't know how this started but it's something that we enjoy doing! We even order the same thing each year! Heaven help us if they change the menu!! I love the wrap from ESPN and DS usually get's this chicken sandwich that I believe also comes from ESPN. DH will be with us this trip so it's going to be fun to see what he thinks of this!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Room Service Menu at the Boardwalk Villas... It's selections offered from all the different restaurants on the Boardwalk. So your burger could come from ESPN and your Shrimp from the Flying Fish. It's a nice selection.

Its dinner at the Rose and Crown for us, it always seems to start the trip off right....we try and schedule it around Illuminations....

We always go and have dinner at Boma at AKL. We were there in 2002 and just fell in love with the place. After dinner we like to go out and walk through the different savannah views or catch some of the African folk tales at the big firepit. My girls love the kid-sized rocking chairs.

We take 2 days to drive there and we stay off site. We check in and rest for a short time & then head to DTD. Shop at the Disney Store and just try to soak up some Disney feelings until we can start hitting the parks the next day.
