My company is open but I'm on vacation. We don't have President's Day, Columbus Day or Veteran's Day off. They do built 2 "floating holidays" into PTO. This year because of the way the holidays fell, they added 2 more (2 less scheduled days). We just got one day for 4th of July and one day for Christmas.

We have a very generous holiday schedule, a total of 10 paid holidays (including Christmas Eve). There is only one Federal holiday (Columbus Day) that we do not have off. The only day that a lot get off that we do not is the Friday after Thanksgiving, I use a PTO day each year for this day.

It was added as a day off at my company a few days ago. I'm the only one in the family off that day. I'll probably spend it doing genealogy research. Either that or watching YouTube and Netflix in my pajamas.

Nope. I spend all my holidays at work. That's the life of a hospital nurse. People "remember" the ER, the paramedics, the fire department & even the police. They do things like bring cookies or treats to them. They never seem to remember that behind that er is AN ENTIRE HOSPITAL full of staff caring for patients instead of enjoying a holiday at home with their own family.

You know what is heart breaking are those who don't have child care for their kids as a teacher that is always on my mind, and their is nothing I can do about it, so yes as i am thinking of this as a much needed day off for me, I can't help but think of them

One day was never a problem for me. It was the 1 week at Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas, 1-2 weeks at Easter, 10 weeks in the Summer that was always a problem.
