Hello all!

Oct. 11 is coming near for my honeymoon at WDW. I have question though, I'm thinking of taking a backpack in the park with sunscreen, rain jackets, bottled water, etc.

Do you carry these all around the park with you? What do you do when your on a ride? Do you take it on the ride with you, get a locker, or is there a place you can keep it when your on a ride?

Thanks,

Eric

I always take a backpack, but then again I have kids, so I must have something...........anyway, I never leave anything on my stroller, so I take my backpack with me, and some more turbulent rides have nets to put your pack in, but other than those, all you have to do is put it at your feet. Just to let you know, they do check your bag before you enter the park, but you don' t have to take everything out, just unzip it for the security guards to look in.

My husband carries the backpack. On most rides you can leave the backpack by the employees or take it with you. My fannypack has our money, tickets and camera. :D

DH and I always take a backpack to hold our ponchos, sunscreen, camera, etc. and have had no problems on any rides. As said on the previous post, they will have nets on some of the rides and the others I just put it between my legs or put a leg thru one of the straps to secure it. We'd be lost without ours. Have a great trip and a great honeymoon - we'll be there when you are!

We usually leave our backpack in the car. We started out taking it and putting it in a locker but we found that we were never using it and it was just as easy to run out to the car when we needed to get something (which was once in the entire 10 days we were there last time).

I carry a pretty decent sized purse with all our needed stuff. :)

Congratulation on your upcoming WEDDING!

My DW doesn't let me carry a fanny pack as she says they are not fasionable

So I carried a Jansport backpack the entire time we were at Disney world. I carried my Video Camera, 2 Britta Water bottles, sunscreen, some snacks and whatnot in it.

It worked great and I could take it on EVERY ride there with no problems at all. I preferred to carry it on the rides as oposed to leaving it with a CM.

You should be fine!

Yep, I carry my backpack with me the whole time I'm there. Couldn't live without the camera, wallet and bottle of water that make it their home. :teeth:

As others have already said, it's no problem on the rides. It will fit comfortably and snuggly at your feet on all of them. Mine isn't a huge school/sport size but a smaller leather backpack so on rides like Thunder Mountain that have open sides where I'm kind of nervous it might go sliding out I just put the strap around my ankle so it's anchored to something. :)

I use a larger size fanny pack which has 2 compartments, the one in the front has slots for credit cards, room keys and another zippered compartment in there to stash cash. The second compartment has room for my digital camera, cell phone, small brush and other things that I may need, a small bottle of sunscreen, chapstick, a wet toilette in a ziploc and anything else I feel I desperately need. I gave up long ago being a pack mule and I think a fanny pack is much safer, I always thought carrying a backpack that someone may come up behind me...unzip it and run off, especially in crowds. They may not be the most fashionable but it is convenient and it serves the purpose, I am at WDW to have fun not to impress anyone! It all depends on your situation, if you have kids then a backpack is probably needed but as an adult I can do without somethings. You can buy those small ponchos and stick in too. But if you are planning on bringing a change of clothes then get a locker, but chances are you will not need them, especially in early Oct. the weather will be warm and should not cool down all that much drastically.

My DH carries the backpack with water, snacks for the kids, sunscreen, camera, autograph books, etc. I carry the fannypack. He brings it on all the rides and stashes it wherever it fits. We've never had a problem with it.

Have a great honeymoon!
:sunny:

I carried a small packpack(more like a knapsack) that held cash, tickets, camera and odds and ends

If you carry a black bag have a way of telling it apart is all I can suggest(I used a Austin Powers keychain)

Depending on the day & the weather, I carry a knapsack or a fanny pack - As others have said, it goes on the rides with me, anchored to my leg if it is a turbulent ride....

We carry a back pack to keep all of our valuables. We also carry a diaper bag for items that don't matter too much if they get stolen/lost.

We have always lugged a backpack around during previous visits but won't during our next trip...too many backaches! We are staying onsite so one of us will just go back to the room if we need jackets or rain ponchos. Everyone is getting equipped with a waterbottle strap and a fanny pack to hold their own snacks and small gear -- whether fashionable, or not!

I carry a fanny pack or a message bag with me. It depends on the park.
To carry all essental that I need.

Took our first trip there this summer and we brought one backpack for the three of us. Never again. When it did rain it stopped raining by the time we took out the ponchos and my camera was too heavy (Cannon AE!). Next time I am bringing something small - necessities only - it really was a pain to carry.

I take my backpack with me to the parks. Mine isn't too big (but it's not a "mini" either), but I try not to STUFF it - it keeps the bulk down which makes it easier to maneuver getting in and out of rides, etc. When I get on a ride like RNRC or SpaceM, I'll slip one foot through a strap (the pack is on the floor anyway) just to be sure my backpack doesn't decide to take a ride of its own!

I've learned to carry a pack that has the waist strap. It helps keep the weight of the pack off my shoulders. I'm a shorty, and a fanny pack just doesn't suit my body.....

DS will wear his fanny pack, but there have been times when he's been afraid of losing it on a ride, so it goes (temp.) in the backpack.

Last trip, DS was still in diapers so we hauled everything, stroller, cooler, back pack, jackets, ack!!!

This time, we're just taking the backpack. It's a good deal for us because anyone can carry it. If I bring a fanny pack, no one will want to be anywhere near it.

Plus, we still need to bring an extra set of clothes for DS, just in case...;)

And we were able to peel off our layers of clothes and stuff it in the backpack as the weather got warmer.

I have a pack that has 2 mesh bottle holders on the sides which works great too. No need to carry an extra water bottle on a strap, etc.

It works for us. And if you share the load, it's really not inconvenient at all!

LMAO....fanny packs...you either love 'em or hate 'em!

I like the idea of the backpack or across the should pack, but also the fanny pack. I wear glasses, and I'm probably going to have to take them off for certain rides so a fanny pack might be good for that. But since we're newlyweds, wife might not want me to wear it for looks.

Does anyone take sandles (in your pack) to wear for the water rides? I really don't want to get my tennis shoes wet.

My DH carries our backpack, but we are in the market for a new one as the old one has had the biscuit. I carry a fanny pack and we have one for DS but he doesn't like to wear it, but I think he will next year. THe backpack has a bottom compartment that is plasticised and we put our ponchos in there so that it doesn't matter if it is wet or not. We carry big ziplock bags with our video camera (which is broken and we need a new one) and our big camera with the zoom lens and everything. We just bough our first digital camera so next time we will have that mostly and just take the big camera when we're doing things like Fantasmic or the parades or something. We take the sunscreen, extra clothes for DS (just in case), snacks, our water etc. In my fanny pack I have the KTTK card, money, sunglasses/case, meds just in case anyone needs them, money, and whatever else we might need.

I also carry a back pack. This trip however I am putting a plastic garbage bag in my back pack. I'm afraid when I ride Kali River Rapids the back pack will get wet. So I'm going to put the back pack in the plastic bag for that ride.
