Do you care if scenarios you read on the internet are real?

I sometimes click on click bait stories on the internet. I only do so when I'm curious because it's a topic I find interesting. I honestly don't care whether it's a made-up scenario or not if I'm interested in reading the story. I kind of feel like it's a "what would you do?" question. I'm not reading it as news or assuming it's factual because it's on the internet. I read the comments and comment after comment are all mad that this is not real, this is a waste of their time, etc. I always wonder, why are you reading this if it's not something that interests you?

What do you think?

I try to stick to legitimate news, articles and stories. Not really into click bait.

It does seem that a lot of people are quick to jump on the 'click bait' bandwagon if they don't like or agree with the subject of the story. I liked it during covid when most articles shutoff the ability to post remarks. I usually ignore them since most people post nonsense and it adds nothing to the story. I don't care to read the random opinions of strangers when reading a legit news article.

I tend to look more at the source of the story to decide what is worth reading. I do find it annoying when you can't read the news article unless you subscribe to their publication. Generally, I can find the same article posted elsewhere that is free for everyone to read.

Eh, I see click bait as a kind of like the National Enquirer. You see it at the news stand and if you're bored enough and anything strikes you, you pick it up a glance at it to kill time. You don't expect it to be true! Of course it's not true and yes, it is a total waste of time - you clicked on click bait! To me, it's just a random "conversation starter" like "would you rather." I actually enjoy the comments when people actually weigh in rather than getting their noses out of joint because it's not real. DUH!

Although I haven’t seen any in a while I thought a number of the posts on this board were creative writing practice.

I try not to click on obvious clickbait, but once in a while one will get me because it sounds plausible. I'll read until it dawns on me that it's most likely bullcrap and then exit out.

I'd prefer to only read true "scenarios". But I was never one to read the National Enquirer or those kinds of magazines.

I'm a cynic like my Daddy taught me to be and pretty much don't believe anything. Particularly the "kindness" stories on FB that always have a pic to prove it. I think the stories can be impactful and remind people to do good regardless, but mostly believe it's a bunch of made up or exaggerated stories.

When I see a pic attached to a story that I have doubts on, I right click on the pic and select "search Image with Google". Then I can see if it was originally attached to that story or grabbed from elsewhere online.

Do I care? Yes, I do. If something is fiction or a lie, say so. Don't present something as real if it isn't. I notice a lot of supposed documentaries lately are doing this. That's when I turn them off.
