Booked a Premium Spot for Aug 19th - just wondering if these sites have trees for shade....

Are there any particular loops/sites to request in the Premium section with more shade than others?

We just bought our RV in Jun and have tried it out at several other parks but all to prepare us for FW!! We know we're going to be blown away! Stayed in a pop-up on a tent site a year ago with some friends so don't know what to expect with the premium sites.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry,,no shade trees ,
the Premium sites are pretty much just barren waste land now. :lmao:

Some of the premium sites had some really nice shade trees....however, they weren't on the site that we had. The outside of Loop 1000, towards the middle of the loop had trees (not the ones backing up to the cabins). Loop 800 had some nice trees and Loop 1400 (I think) had some nice trees. But, most of the sites are barren. Some of the older loops had some nice trees but I'm not sure if they're premium. We looped so much that I've gotten confused over which loops we really liked.

All of the camping loops are fairly heavily wooded with mature trees (the only exception to this would be the new part of the 600 loop, which was built in an area that does not have many mature trees). The predominant trees are very tall pine trees. These provide quite a bit of shade. But, depending on the location of the particular site on a loop, some sites do have direct sunlight for most of the day.

In the past couple of years, there has been quite a bit of clearing of the wooded areas around the campsites. Most of what has been removed was non-native, nuisance vegetation. But, some mature trees were removed as well. That being said, I would not, by any means, describe any loop at the Fort as being barren.

If you would like to see some photos of the work that was done when the premium loops were being created, check out this thread: 4/24/09 Photos

The 900 loop, which is featured in these photos, is still very nicely wooded, and it is now a premium loop.
