no, this is not the "will DME transport bags" question;)

we arrive at BWV, using DME on may 7.
our 1st night is in a standard studio (booked by friend, with her DVC points).
we move to a BW view studio the following day, may 8th (rest of vaca is with my DVC points). so, the reservations are totally separate.

we really don't want/need our checked bags on may 7th. does anyone know if bell services will hold those bags until our 2nd reservation on may 8th starts?
and to throw a bit more confusion in there: would they allow us to retrieve just one of our (probably 3) checked bags? (i realize i can simply not use a luggage tag for one bag and bring it on the bus. having the bags transported is just so much easier).
and i assume we would have to be in the room for bell services on the 8th since it would no longer be a part of DME....? (not a problem as we have an owner's locker to be delivered may 8, also).

of course, we will tip to get the single bag, and at room delivery.

we're tying to figure out if we should just try to pack what we need for the first night in our carry-ons - without our beloved owner's locker, it just adds up.

thanks for any insight :)

I don't see why bell services couldn't hold your bags overnight if requested. I don't think it would be very easy to just pick up one bag as the bags do not travel with you on your DME bus. They are transported separately and then reorganized for delivery at bell services. I think if you need one bag, then you should not tag it and grab it at baggage claim and stick it under the bus.

I would take the one bag that you might need with you for the night of the 7th. Being that DME delivers the remainder of your bags directly to your room -assuming your name is on the reservation for the night of the 7th - within that 3 hour or so time period they would look up what room you are checked into, I would ask the cast member at the front desk put a note on your reservation requesting they hold your other bags until the next day until you switch rooms. DME probably looks up what room you are checked into and just delivers the bags.

I don't think you will have any problem but would take that one bag with you. If your room is not ready, you can ask bell services to hold it until you return from the parks and you would have a claim ticket for that one. We do that with our carryons if the room is not ready.

thank you both for the input :)
i was thinking along the same lines, but wasn't sure where the bags actually go once delivered to the resort (it made sense that it would be the bell services room, but i wasn't sure). i'l make sure to ask both the FD and Bell Services to hold them until the 8th.

hopefully, we will be able to do just carry-ons, so we won't have any problems (i'm assuming worst case scenerio, they might just have us go into the luggage room and get one bag - they've brought us in there before when we forgot something).

thank you again - now i just need to start packing :thumbsup2

Honestly I would make sure to get your bags your first night. What if one of your bags is lost by the airline, you won't know until the next day and there will be a delay in trying to track down that bag. Or at least check with bell services to make sure they have all of your bags the day you arrive. When you get in your room on the 8th just call down and bell services will deliver your bags.

I agree with Shelly. I would want the bags the first night. I just wouldn't open the two bags I don't need.

I wouldn't count on a single checked bag holding all my necessities either (your reference to needing one bag). I always "cross pack", this way if any bag gets delayed, I have what I need in other bags.

I agree. Asking them to withhold hold two of your bags from the auto ME delivery process would be "out of the norm" and so there would be a significant opportunity for something to go wrong.

Just let them deliver the bags and don't unpack the ones you don't need. You can just take them down to in the morning when you check out and back in. If your room isn't ready, you can leave all the bags with Bell Services then.
