Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

So a couple days ago I started to wonder what happened to those postcards you were going to send the boys. This morning Patrick says to me "hey mom, look what we got in the mail" and I see "ANIMAL KINGDOM". Knowing the mail hadn't come yet today I asked him when it came and he said "I don't know, Tuesday or Wednesday maybe"

Yep, he'll grow up to make a fine man someday :sad2: Thanks Jackie! They were thrilled even 2 or 3 days later :lmao:

I did know rain had colors. What I didn't know is that anyone else used that to gauge how to proceed with their day. :thumbsup2

Why is it that men never really HEAR what we say? Dr. Pepper verses Cream Soda. :confused3

Great start to your report!! You had me cracking up! Charles wakes up and you tell him to go back to sleep for another hour! :rotfl:

I like meteorology too! ;)

Are you Charles?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

NO, I'm not Charles....but sometimes us men have to stand up for one another!! :thumbsup2 Especially, since so many ladies seem to misunderstand us!!! :confused3 I mean we can try so hard to make our wives lives easier and better and yet they think we are trying to torment them. Just take this case.............CREAM SODA.......now I challenge you to run into the corner store near you and find a nice cold CREAM SODA taking up precious, shelf space in a limited cooler at the store........especially since it is such a BIG SELLER!!! :rotfl2: However it is clear that Charles knew that Jackie likely would have been upset starting her trip off with a stop at that corner store before they even got out of town........so he drudges out at midnight to get her choice of drinks.....think about it, now........if he hadn't woke her up to ask, later when she did get up, she would have been like, why did you buy me that??? That's not what I want!!! Instead, being what is obvious.....a caring, loving, thoughtful, devoted Husband, he wakes her and ask her, knowing that while he makes his midnight run to the store she will quickly fall back to Disney Dreams!! Does she give him what we as husbands long for.......a simple EASY to get item that can be found anywhere, at anytime, quickly?? NO, she throws him that curve ball (that we have come to expect from our precious brides)........CREAM SODA!!! Just like my wife does when we go out to eat and she wants this from the menu, but wants it prepared a different way than they cook it and would prefer the vegetable from the other menu item :sad2: in other words, she can't have what they serve, she wants something different, but yet she chose where we went to dine??? :scared1:.............just like Jackie couldn't request something SIMPLE that would be EASY to find in any cooler at any store in the middle of the night.......NO, she wants a CREAM SODA???? :confused3 I know she said she knew that the particular store he would be going to has them, but I can just guess if she has bought them before from there, the ONE that they had in the cooler was gone.......since she had ALREADY purchased IT!! Poor Charles!! :sad1: He had to make an excutive decision and bought something he knew she liked and was readily available!! But does he get props for this??? NO, he is considered a travel diva.........go figure???

Hey DebraW76 I do have to agree that was one of the funniest stories I have read in a long, long time, about your Mom. Was she ever able to get close enough to get the picture?? :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

P.S. CP, please don't tell Charles that he has someone in his corner if you haven't already.....after reading what ALL your faithful subbers have offered up after reading your post and AGREEING with you on how horrible we husbands can be........I'm not sure that I will be over in this corner for long?? :sad2::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I know for a fact that the gas station just blocks from my house has cream soda (as does most in our part of the country)

Oh and Blesseddaddy, I think most of us around here would say we love , maybe even adore  our darling husbands (who happen to drive us insane :headache: a good fraction of the time)

OMG 10 pages in already. Well I am finally here. I can't wait to read along and see what unfolds. The intro is wonderful! 9 months old...way to go girl. I didn't get there 'til I was 10! :goodvibes

Really? (insert one eyebrow raised smiley here). Are you two just catching up or perhaps discussing something more substantive? What are the current incentives from Disney if I may ask? I've been so focused on resale lately.

I hope you keep emailng with your guide!!

Oh, always discussing...always discussing.

The current incentive that I really like is $19 off each point at AKV. That almost seems to make it quite the steal!

Next trip - video!

Hidden video.

Yes, definitely! LOL!

:rotfl2:That's funny!

I got a good laugh out of it as well!

I am! Anytime you want to chat about the weather, feel free to PM me!

DFi and I drove down to WDW last December from MA. That was a haul. He drove the whole way but he likes driving too!

I :lovestruc weather in a crazy, obsessed kind of way!

Jackie,
If you guys decide to purchase Kidani points we can be DVC neighbors!

Can I borrow a cup of sugar?

Wouldn't that be awesome??? Baylor and Connor would love hanging out at the pool together.

Are you Charles?

HA HA HA!

I feel like I am addicted to a good soap opera, just waiting for the next update.

This weekend -- I already have all the pics ready to go.

Somehow I missed that you had started this TR... now I have to go back and read! Just wanted to let you know that I'm here!!

:welcome: I am so glad you made it over!

Now that was funny.......

I thought so, too.

:lmao: about Patrick! I am glad it finally surfaced! :thumbsup2

I did know rain had colors. What I didn't know is that anyone else used that to gauge how to proceed with their day.

Oh, I am a huge weather watcher -- especially in the spring when the storms start rolling in. :scared:

Charles tried. Next time I will just be sure to give my first, second, and third choices.

Great start to your report!! You had me cracking up! Charles wakes up and you tell him to go back to sleep for another hour! :

I like meteorology too!

The best part was that he did go back to sleep until we reached Florida.

Oh, come on, BD, you need to stay in Charles's corner! Charles needs you to interpret all of his actions for us -- otherwise we assume a totally different scenerio! You are in charge of male subtitles for the rest of the TR! :thumbsup2

I know for a fact that the gas station just blocks from my house has cream soda (as does most in our part of the country)

Oh and Blesseddaddy, I think most of us around here would say we love , maybe even adore  our darling husbands (who happen to drive us insane :headache: a good fraction of the time)

Don't mind BD, Katie, -- he is our resident heckler and provides scads of comic relief. You should see him over on Wigd's TR! :lmao:

OMG 10 pages in already. Well I am finally here. I can't wait to read along and see what unfolds. The intro is wonderful! 9 months old...way to go girl. I didn't get there 'til I was 10!

Yeay! Tammy is here!!!

Ummmmmm, Ummmmmm, Ummmmmm, after reading your first ENTRY about the trip down, I'm NOT SURE I can truly interpret Charles' ACTIONS??? :rolleyes1

Really Katie, I'm NOT all BAD.....I promise!! :confused3 I would also like to thank you for your response......it just goes to show why I have become so ADDICTED to the DIS.....I mean you can learn so much from reading along here and not just about Disney either.....

I'm a little late, but I'm here! :cool1: I'll be back soon to get caught up. :thumbsup2

Chuck was in your neck of the woods last night. He drove part of the way down to Florida. I'll have to ask him again the name of the town he stayed in.

How did I miss this???

Did Charles ever explain why he felt the need to buy the drinks in the middle of the night?:rotfl2:

You and your dad with the weather crack me up!!

BD, if another man can't interpret Charles's actions, then you see my predicament! :lmao:

:welcome: I am so glad you made it over here before you left! I hope you have a great time down at Disney and that the weather cools down a bit for you! You are going to have a blast!

:welcome: I am so glad you are here, Carissa! Yes, definitely ask Chuck where he was in Georgia -- I wonder if it was close by?

How did I miss this???

You and your dad with the weather crack me up!!

:welcome: I am so glad you made it over before you left on your camping trip!

Nah, I just figured he was bored and antsy and decided to do something productive.

My dad and I are quite the pair when it comes to the weather!

Can't wait to read more about your trip. Your husband sounds so much like mine. When he makes a breakfast trip to Mickey D's he will as me what I want and get the opposite. I have finally learned to ask for what I don't want and get what I really want. :lmao:

I know that wigd loves me very much!
She tells me that every time I buy more DVC points or mention booking a vacation! :flower3:

Ah, you know just how to keep your wife happy! :goodvibes

Thanks to all of our trips to Boma over the years and intense studying of the maps of the WDW resort area, I knew exactly how to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Of course, it didn't hurt that there were big, brightly colored signs announcing the way to the Animal Kingdom Resort Area and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

It was my turn to be obnoxiously hyper.

Me: Oh, look, this is way to the ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE RESORT AREA.

Me Again: Oh, look, now we need to turn here for the ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE! Look the sign says so!

Me Yet Again: Everyone, if you look to your right, you will see the Animal Kingdom with the snow covered peaks of Expedition Everest!

Yep Me Again: Look, look, look! There is the roof of the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

I have been yearning to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge since we first set foot in it in 2007. I was just a tad bit excited to be pulling up to the gatehouse and announcing (finally!), "We are checking in." The guard checked my ID and gave us our parking pass. Sure enough it said Animal Kingdom Lodge with the end date of June 13. Hurray!

We parked in the self-parking section, figuring we would wait to see if our room was even ready before unloading the car and hurried into Jambo House.

Jambo House! Our home for the next eight days!!! :lovestruc In my excitement, I didn't take any pictures, but later in the week I did, so I will share some of those now.

I walked "jauntily" over to the online check-in desk. I was a little worried at this point because just prior to the trip, I had been scaring myself senseless with horror tales of online check-in mistakes. No worries for us, though, everything was as it should be including our park tickets and dining plan.

The Cast Member welcomed me, explained our folder, and said the magical words, "Your room is 3022, and it is ready. It is on Giraffe Trail on this floor." Woo hoo! We could head straight to our room, and it was close to the lobby! I hadn't made any requests, but I was hoping that we would be near the lobby! I was already loving AKL more than I thought possible.

We decided to check out the room immediately. I had booked a standard view room so was expecting to open our curtains on a lovely view of asphalt and SUVs, and I would have been perfectly happy because we were at my heart's desire of resorts. As we walked down the hall, I noticed the odd numbers were on the side of the parking lot, and could it be? Were the even numbers overlooking the pool? Really? Had we been upgraded??? I put a key into the door and opened it...

Again, in my excitement, I didn't take any pictures that afternoon, but I did take them early one morning. Imagine if you will...this was our view as we stepped onto the balcony...only with lots of people...

Yes!!! We had been upgraded to a beautiful pool view room!!! Again, I could feel my love of the Animal Kingdom Lodge growing to the point where I thought my heart might burst.

Turning our back on the gorgeous view, we spied another pleasant surprise awaiting us on our bed.

This was the only picture I actually took when we checked in -- our Mickey towel.

The artwork is beautiful in the room. I would love to have this print for my house, and those baskets would work well in my kitchen.

Charles and I left the children watching television in the room and pulled the car around to unload. We were feeling quite posh at this point, so we had bell services unload and deliver our luggage to our room. I could get used to this deluxe business very easily.

Once unpacked and settled, our attention turned to our plans for the rest of the day. Where should we head first?

UP NEXT: Ears or Light Sabers? Which is more powerful?

Wow, it is so pretty. I need to stay there. I would have been super happy with that view. :thumbsup2

Oooh exciting! An upgrade! How lovely it looks! I would love to stay at AKL someday!

My money is on the ears!
