Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

CP.......

Where did you go?????? You admitted your brief moment of weakness, divadom, meltdown, whatever you want to call it and now you have disappeared! All I can say is I need everyone who has posted here in the last three pages to come over to my TR to support me when I describe my Epcot meltdown!:scared: It ain't pretty, but happened under similar circumstances! I can't wait until your next installment! :surfweb:popcorn:::surfweb:

Jackie,
Your update made me realize I can write mine too. I think in the heat, after a few days in a hotel room you reach a point and that is okay. Especially when you work so hard to make everything perfect. I think I finally realized it this trip.... but I am sure I will try to make things perfect again next time too!

Just caught up on all your updates and I love them all. You are so good at describing things that I never get intimidated at more words and less pictures with your reports!

Love that you fell fast asleep in the AC after a meal and being frustrated- sounds like something I would do- for sure!

Jackie, Here's my question....
We you forced to dole out the "silent treatment"?
Anita

Great update, boy have I been there and felt for your situation as reading this, going through the morning by yourself and then having your plans for lunch thwarted by long lines, AUGH!!! How frustrating. I have also been in World Showcase with a son begging for more since the phone said they needed "more help". Glad you got the nap you deserved to recover, can't wait for more.
Lesley

Cp - so glad you posted today. Made my boring morning must more amusing!

Oh, now I can't wait to hear about your Epcot meltdown!

My poor CP!!!!! I don't think that was too much of a diva moment.....it was true and probably a little overdue! I think you have done a great job so far of juggling everyone else's needs and taking care of all the plans!!!! I bet you felt immensely better after that nap!!!! I hope your day improves, but I'm a little nervous about Connor and the KP missions.......YIKES!!!!!

I love the planning and know that the trip is as much about everyone else as it is about me, but I just unraveled at that point in the heat! I felt so much better after my nap! Connor...well...you will see...:rolleyes1

Oh my goodness, your lunch sounds like a vision into my future - I can imagine having that exact conversation with my husband and kids! Probably because I've had it before, anytime I try to plan something, they just swoop in and override me - usually to poor results. I have actually warned them all, that we're going with Mom's plan, and if you want any input, give it now, before we get there! I get very grumpy when I'm hungry, too, and hate the "where should we go" discussion.

I hate the "where should we go" discussion and I can promise that did not happen again. ;)

Connor's obsession with doing more KP missions is also a vision into my future - when my son likes something, that's it, he doesn't want to do anything else, just stick with what he likes. And the rest of the family's wishes matter not a whit to this kid - its all about him!
Okay, rant over, I love my family, but boy can they be annoying! I just totally sympathise with you on this day ,and its not fair when you have clearly worked so hard to plan it all perfectly! Hope a rest solved the problem!:goodvibes

Yes, be forewarned about the obsessive power of the KP missions! I hear ya about the annoying family! I love mine, too, but sometimes I sure do wish I was a solo traveler. ;)

I don't blame you at all for your diva moment. I always start to get cranky at Disney when it's hot and my plans are starting to unravel. I can't even imagine what a cranky kid would add to the mix for me. I guess I'd crack even sooner. Usually it's the rain that gets to me. I try to tough it out as long as possible, but eventually I crack. :lmao:

I think we all have cracking moments at Disney even though it seems like they shouldn't happen there of all places.

Oh Jackie, I'm sorry to hear that your EPCOT morning was not the easiest. I am the same way when I get tired and/or hungry; I am normally rational but this other side of me comes out. It's good that you went to the hotel and rested, though - sometimes that's all I need to pull myself out of a funk!

Yes, when I am hungry, everyone better watch out. LOL!

I was thinking some of my cousins and I would try the Kim Possible deal this year, so thanks for the warning about the multiple missions - we'll have to have a discussion before-hand about how many missions we are going to do! :lmao:

Yes, have that discussion beforehand!

There is something about Epcot that causes diva moments. Epcot is where I had both of my diva moments last trip. I think it's the heat and lack of shade combined with sooooo many options. Plus, for some reason Epcot seems to make everyone else suddenly very opinionated. No one questioned my touring plans at AK or MK but suddenly at Epcot everyone had an opinion. :scared1: That did not mesh well with my need to control.

That is so true! No one ever questions what we are doing at the other parks!

It looks like you were able to accomplish a lot in the morning with the kids, and a lot of new things for y'all too. :thumbsup2

I have to make sure next trip that my DD knows the animals on the safari are real. I'll set the record straight with her from the beginning.

We did have a lot of fun doing new things in the morning.

I never would have imagined that Connor didn't know the animals were real. LOL!

Yikes. I have not been hearing a lot of good feedback to how that Kim Possible thing works. I thought I read that you could pick where you want your next mission to be after the first one. You'd think that would make more sense than sending you from Norway to Japan without your cencent. Far too inconvenient! Thanks for the heads up.

Oh, you can choose where your next mission is going to be -- Connor decided he wanted to do the Japan mission and selected it before saying anything to me -- if he had chosen China or Mexico, he probably would have been able to do another one.

Sounds like a great morning at Epcot, preKP that is! We never squeezed it in this trip but I will remember your experience and set some ground rules before we do it next year!

Yes, I have decided that ground rules for KP are a must!

As for your *diva* moment...it was completely justified and I am not just saying that because the EXACT same words came out of my mouth at AK one day:rolleyes1

It seems we all have diva moments on our trips! ;)

I personally don't think it was a diva moment at all. I think it's a natural reaction to being the parent in charge all morning and then having the other parent sweep in and decide to change the plans. Oh wait, we were talking about your vacation......not my every Friday when DH gets home from work :headache:

:lmao: Glad to hear I am not the only one that snaps when that happens!

I'm thinking that KP only gives you another mission if it's not in high demand that day....maybe that's why you didn't know it would do that. Parents take note!

Now that I know multiple missions are an option, it changes how we will approach KP in the future.

I was getting nervous with that storm attraction story. That would have been quite the therapy for your bad weather-phobia.

Can you imagine if we had done it? It might have changed the whole rest of the day! LOL!

Maybe it should be standard touring procedure for all of us to eat BEFORE we get hungray. Something that I started doing last trip might help your crew. I made a sheet for each park with the menus of the restaurants that we might eat at. That way we could check the menu before we trekked all the way there, or so we could make a decision before we were straving.

Normally I like to eat early, but with the KP mission, my whole touring plan was set back. I like the menu idea! We will be doing that in the future!

Oh no! Sorry about the hot, hectic afternoon. I hate when things don't go as planned, and my family's always trying to change the plans on me :headache: The best laid plans... right? Hopefully everyone felt better after getting some lunch and time to relax. Can't wait for more!

Shame on our families -- don't they know better by now? Yes, we were able to return to Epcot in better spirits after resting.

Ahhh, a meltdown at EPCOT, been there, done that, embarrassed myself, my DD and my BFF. We were in France when a cast member came up to us and said Belle and Beast will be out in 3 minutes, stand right here and you will be first in line to see them:cool1: Belle is my FAVORITE princess, I love her attitude. So there we stand (the other 2 couldn't care less, but they humoured me) when all of a sudden 3 kids stand right in front of us. I politely say to them "Darlings, the line is right behind us and Belle and Beast should be right out. So they move behind us.....7 seconds later they stand in front of us again and my DD who was 12 at the time elbows me and points. Ok, now the mommy is with them, so again, politely I say the lineup is behind us, she proceeds to point her index finger in my face and says "Are blind, we were here first". After I picked my jaw up off the floor, shushed DD, because now I just think is this really worth it I'm at the happiest place on earth.....well, no all of a sudden I'm 5 years old again and darn it, we were here first. They won't move, so my DD says well mom, they aren't playing by the rules (pointing at the children) and I say....gosh I'm so embarrassed as I type this...."Well you can't fault the children when their mother is clearly an idiot"...yup that's right completely lost my mind!!!! At least you had your moment with your own family:scared:

Okay, I love this story! I would have been tempted to say the exact same thing in your situation! I don't like people not following rules and cutting in lines, so I would have been absolutely fuming!

:lmao: about Connor at the storm attraction. At least he was takin' care of you!
And I think your diva moment was justified. Tired+hungry+no one willing to work with you? Not a good combination for anyone, plus throw in a few hundred other people and some good ol' Florida heat, and that's enough to make anyone snap!

I'm glad you got to rest a bit after that, and am curious to find out if Connor ever makes it to Japan for his next mission.

:) Can't wait to read more!

Yes, Connor was watching out for me with Storm Struck. Sweet child that he is most of the time.

I can promise you the KP saga is not over my a long shot!

Oh, CP, I understand all too well! This sounds just like my own little OTP meltdown moment on the last Aunt Rae trip... in fact, I think my exact words were, "I Quit!" :sad2:

I am so glad to hear I am not the only one that does that -- sometimes the whole "Disney is supposed to be the happiest place on Earth" experience just becomes too overwhelming.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the heads up on the KP repeat missions tidbit! You know how rigid Billy can be, you may have saved us from our own meltdown! Not to mention two pouty teenage girls! :headache:

I appreciate that most DISers are not spilling the beans about the missions... that's so very thoughtful... but little factoids like that are so good to know!!

Glad you got a chance to refresh yourself after all that... looking forward to the next chapter!!

If my experience with Connor and KP can help just one parent, then it makes it all worthwhile in my opinion! The missions, themselves, are sooo neat -- I know you will enjoy doing it. I think even Tricia and her cousin will get a kick out of them. Chelsea wasn't too interested in the beginning but got sucked right into them.

ETA: Forgot to mention how funny that was that Connor thought the safari animals were AAs!!

I really just died laughing when he said that -- he was so serious and certain they were all fakes.

It's so interesting to get every ones different takes on Kim Possible. I actually have come to dread those two little words....

What about that little tune they played at the beginning of every new clue. It still haunts my nightmares.

I'm thinking Charles must have LOVED AKL. He seemed to relish quiet time soaking up the resort.;)

He did really love relaxing at AKL and as the week went on, I just gave up trying to entice him out for more than a couple of hours at a time.

Don't you just love the planning and obsessing just to let it go right down the drain?

Not to mention I don't deal well with changes.

I wish you had heard your phone you were very near to meet and greet spot... not to rub salt in the wound but we had Minnie, Mickey and Goofy.

I know -- I saw the Photopass pictures. :(

Can't wait to see who that DIS meet was with!:rotfl:

I wonder...;)

your update maddee me laugh out loud:lmao:
I am sorry that you had a slight meltdown--it happens to everyone I'm sure!!!

Yes, I can look back on it all and just laugh now!

So sorry about your Epcot day. As someone else said...the heat and the people and then being hungry...so easy to unravel. We call it "temper tummy" when we start to get hungry and need to find a quick remedy before we come undone! :rotfl:popcorn::
Tracy

I like that term "temper tummy." I think I will use it from now on!

Well Jackie, you never let us down with your updates!

I aim to keep my readers happy. ;)

I will also go ahead and say it..........Charles bears some of the responsibility for your meltdown!! There, it is out there, I have said it!! Bask in it, enjoy it, it may or may not last long?? I know he is my new Buddy, but hey we have to man up, when we can. Surely my new Buddy won't be too offended when I point out our faults, since I am certainly willing to point out y'alls!! :rotfl2: Dropping phone.....well, it was an accident........deciding to hang back another morning........well.......ummmmmmm........welllllllll.....showing up and then not going along with the plan already in place.........ummmmmm.......well.......ummmmmmmmm.....I knew this was going to be a rocky, slippery slope when I signed on to give the "other" side's view!!

 Hold on...let me pick my jaw up off the floor...

I hate about the accident with the phone.........but one can survive at Disney without it..........I did!!! Tracy carries one (being cheap, I see no need for me to carry one) and only once did it really create an issue for us at Disney!! We had a "Monday" at Disney the day we were going to AK!! In the days leading up to that morning, I had been running for Fast Passes and had blisters the size of New Jersey on both of my feet.........being the sweet wife she is, she offered to run and get us FP for Everest as we entered the park. We had other friends already in the park, but because we were having a "Monday" at Disney we had arrived "late"!! Anyway, she called them on her cell phone, turned to me as she dashed off in the other direction and yelled they are at Discovery Island and into the crowd she disappeared. Now, Discovery Island isn't a destination, it's a SECTION of the park!! My first thought was, "well this isn't good"!! There was no way to chase her down with my two girls in tow. I figured if I headed that direction, she would have gotten the FP and moved toward Discovery Island before I got my two girls even over to Everest. So, I decide, with the 100,000 other people there that day, to move with the crowd. I even stopped and let the girls get Lilo and Stitch's autographs along the way!! :lmao: As we meandered around Discovery Island, I did start to panic a little!! I thought, there is no way, I am going to find Tracy or the other family!! Then I decided the best thing to do was to stay on the main path and just be still and watch the THOUSANDS of people passing in front of me. We had our own Kim IMPossible Mission. I told the girls to be on the lookout for Momma or our friends. Poor things, there was no way they could see over the crowds. Believe it or not, just as I was getting ready to start asking total strangers if I could borrow their cell phones to call my wife, I saw her darting by.........by then she was a good piece on up the path, but I yelled as loud as I could over the crowd and she actually heard me!!! So, see you can survive Disney without a cell phone........especially if you can holler loud!!

:lmao: See, this is why I panic at the thought of not having a phone -- you were lucky enough to find Tracy, but I can promise you, because it was my family (and we tend to be unlucky), we would have been looking for each other all day long. LOL!

I think Connor is certainly a fine young man, he is already looking out for his mother!! You should be very proud of him, thinking about you and protecting you from the storms!! You know, you really can't blame him either, for thinking the animals on the safari weren't real.......Disney is pretty amazing at some of the things they are able to pull off!!

Connor is a fine young man when he isn't obsessed with a new KP mission. LOL!

I messed up when we went to Epcot, after spending our morning riding everything in Future World (and I mean EVERYTHING....), we moved toward the World Showcase. We did try to eat lunch early each day, as to beat the crowds at the CS places. So we stopped in Mexico and grabbed a bite to eat. While sitting there looking out over the water and enjoying the BIRDS, I mentioned to my girls what World Showcase was. I didn't want them after having ridden everything (and I mean EVERYTHING...) at DHS, almost everything (just some of the "smaller" rides left that we had yet to ride) at MK, as well as having ridden everything (and I mean EVERYTHING...) at AK to be disappointed walking around the World Showcase, since we had spent our morning riding EVERYHING in Future World. Big mistake on my part. They opted to save it for another time!! I don't know what I was thinking, but I didn't want them to have a meltdown. I know they would have loved the World Showcase and enjoyed it very much, but my frame of mind was........I don't want them to think there are a lot of rides back here, like we have been doing for the past 4 days and then be upset!! As I read yours and other's trip reports (who have been more than once) and see where y'all are doing certain rides and shows in the parks for the first time (we hit the parks commando style), I am truly amazed at what all we did.......but when it comes to World Showcase, that is where I dropped the ball........well, as they say, you can't do it all in one trip and it gives you a reason to go back!! I guess World Showcase is our Number ONE reason!!

It is hard to fit it all in on any trip -- I am impressed that you did cover as much ground as you did. Just think, on the next trip, you can entice your girls into World Showcase with passports, masks, and KP missions! ;)

We missed one of Anita's calls too when we were there. Hummmmmm?? Oh, wait she did leave you a message, huh?? Hummmmmm?? She would have loved to have been around for the "meltdown"......I think that is another one of her favorite Disney traditions......to watch others have meltdowns at the Happiest Place on Earth!!

Maybe Wigd can do take pictures of meltdowns on the next trip! :lmao:

Well, I hate you had a "moment", but you are entitled to it and yes we all have them!! I was glad to hear that Charles took it all in stride and figured out he needed to make the rest of the day better for you!! I like everyone else look forward to your next installment and hope that the food, the rest, a break from the crowds and some cool air made everything right with the World!!

Food, rest, and a break almost make everything right with the World, but be forewarned -- the evil temptress, Kim Possible, is still lurking in the shadows. LOL!

All caught up! Great report! Sorry about your diva meltdown!
It happens to us all!

Can't wait for more!

Thank you! Yes, I guess we all have our moments.

Jackie, you are so sweet - your meltdown was just a tiny one - I'm sure no one else even noticed. You're allowed a moment like that, especially when the family isn't appreciating your planning efforts!

Thank you -- I feel so much better about my meltdown now that I have "confessed" it on the DIS and found everyone has their moments.

I'm sorry about your phone. That stinks to have a half working/not working phone a WDW. I'm glad you got a new one though. :)

I needed a new one and I love it -- it has a full keyboard so texting is so much easier now.

I wish my DD were a little older so we could to the KP stuff. She just wouldn't get it.

You would have fun doing it though -- I saw lots of adults completing the missions as well.

Been there, done that with the Diva meltdown. I think I even used your same wording as far as planning the trip out and then on a whim having the entire day changed. Like you, I don't work well when I am hungry. I'm also so type A that when the plan in my head (for the perfect day) gets changed I just get so annoyed.

I'm glad you were able to rest, can't wait to hear about the rest of the day.

Me too! Changes and hunger are both bad, bad, bad in my book!

Jackie, Here's my question....
Were you forced to dole out the "silent treatment"?
Anita

TheSilentOnescopy.jpg

Does he realize he's at Disney? He did sleep most of the way down. Maybe he just doesn't realize???

I think Charles had just had enough of Disney on this trip, and it was miserably hot the whole time. I figured out that we have been down there five times in the last three years, and I just think Charles wasn't feeling it at all.

Sounds to me like your diva moment was completely founded!

Hopefully you woke up refreshed!

Oh, I did, thank you!

Jackie, one mom cannot keep it all together, 100% of the time. We are not superheroes. It's tough. I've been in the same situation before and know it's hard to feel that all of your careful planning doesn't matter much to your family at certain times. I'm glad you got something to eat and had a nice nap. That seems to do the trick for me too. Connor is adorable protecting you from being scared! Cute stuff.

I loved that Connor did that! It was darling! The food and rest really helped me pull it together for the rest of the day.

I have no comment, being by nature...quite similar.

That's why we get along so well! ;)

I would so love a Bacon Double Cheeseburger and a nap right now.

Me too!

I love that. Your son is all concerned, your daughter's ready to throw you to the wolves.

Don't you think that just illustrates the inherent nature of mother/daughter and mother/son relationships! :lmao:

Hey!

I'm back and almost back to myself. Lol. We had a blast!!! Not sure when we will be back with new baby coming!

By the way, look at my siggie and the color of my ticker.

YOU'RE HAVING A BOY!!! Congratulations!!! You will have so much fun with a little boy!

Welcome home! How was the heat down there? And the crowds?

What are you confused about? You're confusing me with your confusion!

Good for you for your Diva moment. We all need those once in a while. I've especially needed them at Disney when people are messing with my ultimate plan.

Right there with ya!

I'm doing something really scary right now...letting DH plan our next trip. It's only 3 days, and will be the weekend after the wedding I'm planning for our niece, I'll need a break and someone else to make decisions. We'll see how that goes.

I admire you for letting DH do that! I don't know if I could...:rolleyes1

ALos very cute that Conner thought the safari animals were AA, I'll bet that was b/c the only one you get to see really close up is Little Red who actually is anamatronic.

That thought had crossed my mind, too.

kimpossible.jpg

This girl is nothing but TROUBLE!!

She is responsible for the troll meltdown in March and France meltdown in June!

I mean, really, is Kim a hero princess: or a villain pirate:?

She gets a vote for Villain Pirate in my book! LOL! I will never look at her the same way again after our trip. :sad2:

Oh Jackie! I don't think you were being a diva at all! I've felt that same frustration before. I think all of us experience one of those per trip!
I think all our senses are magnified at disney. If you're happy, you're really happy. If you're pissed off......well, it isn't pretty.

Everything's bigger at Disney! Oh, that's Texas, but you know what I mean. LOL!

Personaly I would have stayed at the Lotus blossom and let the picky eaters go somewhere else. I'm mean. Just ask my kids.

I dream of one day being that assertive. :lmao:

I've never heard of the storm thing. what and where is it?

I am not sure exactly what it is, but I know it simulates a tornado at some point in the show. It is in the Innoventions building (I can't remember which one, but I want to say, it is Innoventions East.

Jackie, I just love your updates! In random order:

LOVE that Connor thought the safari animals were audio animatronic! Too cute. Although I have my doubts about the lion on the rock who never really moves.

:lmao: I agree, but if he is a fake, shouldn't Disney turn him around. LOL!

Also :lmao: over Connor politely declining the storm attraction b/c his mom can't handle it. And equally :lmao: that Chelsea was so ready to sign you up!

Such illustrates my relationships with my children. LOL!

You did quite a few new to you attractions that morning! :thumbsup2 What's up with Charles hanging back? Is Anita right - is he in love with the AKL? Thankfully dear Charles has since redeemed himself. :)

We were knocking them off the list this trip for sure!

He loved AKL and was just not feeling the theme park experience AT ALL.

Yes, Charles has managed to redeem himself. Thank goodness!

I am intrigued to hear more about Kim Possible. Although not terribly excited to hear it is 2009's "TSM." I do want to try this in Sept/Oct. So you need an appointment to play? How long did the Norway mission take?

KP really is a lot of fun, don't get me wrong -- my son just has an obsessive personality when it comes to things like that. You go to one of the KP kiosks in Future World -- there is one in each of the Innoventions buildings, and one as you walk towards WS -- and swipe one of your cards through a machine. It gives you a ticket that looks just like a FP with a time and a location on it. Then anytime after the time on your ticket, you can go pick up your Kimmunicator (which is a cell phone). The missions take about 30 minutes.

Re: your diva moment. I agree with others that a) it's not really a diva moment; b) it's somewhat unfair for the other parent to show up and change the plans; and c) a bacon double cheeseburger and a nap could bring on world peace.

So true! We need to suggest that to the United Nations! :thumbsup2

Hey CP -- that is nothing. I think you made it clear what the problem was -- no one appreciating what you had done... The planning does take so much time, and while everyone can be flexible, unecessarily changing plans is not fair to the person who spent all the time and effort!!!

I am not very flexible either once my mind is made up that this is the way it should be done.

Looking forward to how the rest of the day worked out! I am sure much better :goodvibes
Though your comment about Connor and your comments on my TR do sound a little ominous....

It gets better in some ways...how's that for being vague?

Jackie, I think everyone experiences a meltdown at WDW at least once!! Being tired, hot, and hungry can do that to you!! I deal with major blood sugar issues (I'm hypoglycemic) so I totally understand!! I hope things get better for you in Epcot!!

So, you know exactly what it is like when Charles's blood sugar dips down too low from his diabetes! I am certainly not a happy camper when mine does, and I am sure it is mild in comparison!

Too funny on the more real animals on the safari please exchange! LOL! They are so used to the fake things at Disney they don't even recognize the real deal!

Connor has obviously been too immersed in the Disney experience for too long! LOL!

And hot and tired and Epcot (could that place be any bigger? I love it but just walking from the bus to Ball is long, never mind to WS) are all the ingredients for a little time out needed. Throw in some folks who are frustrated and and there you go. I think you did the right thing and going back for that nap was probably just what you needed.

Epcot is deceptively big -- no wonder it is the scene of so many meltdowns.

I can't believe on your past trips you had never done Nemo or Crush? Had you ever even gone in the Living Seas building? I love Crush, too too cute!

I don't think I had ever even been in the building even when it was just The Living Seas. We had eaten at Coral Reef before but never made it into the attraction portion. We really liked Crush -- he had us laughing very hard.

Your tiny diva moment was totally justified, and of course you bounced right back. We had our moments with Kim Possible too. We almost walked out the park with it.

I wonder if that happens a lot! It would have been easy to forget it was in my purse.

I love the fact that you're doing the things you've never done. I always say I'm going to do this but then the favorites eat up too much time.

It was one of our goals for the trip -- to do the things we hadn't done before.

Oh man, sorry to hear about the little problem in China and with the KP attraction. They say girls are the tempermental ones but boys definitely take their turn too! Happy to hear that Charles helped difuse the situation. Meltdowns do happen, even to adults! Glad to hear you got some food and some sleep too. I'm sure your evening went much better!

We are a very melodramatic family -- the boys and the girls. LOL!

Wow Shocker, all this time Wigd. had me thinking it was YOU that was the cause for the trouble in Norway in March and it was YOU that was the cause for the trouble in France in June???? Who knew it was Kim Possible?????????? :confused3 I vote we throw her out with there with the sea vamps, maybe she can catch us a kettle of fish!! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

:lmao: Now the truth about KP is emerging! That just shows how evil she truly is -- able to make it look like others are responsible for her evil deeds.

I have to say, in my personal option, you'd been pretty much a saint with Charles recurring disappearing acts. One person can only do so much.

Venting is good for the soul.

It also reminds your kids that you are human and they should appreciate all you do.

In the picture of meltdowns, it wasn't much. Me, personally, would have had a second one if they'd chosen EU for lunch, halfway across the world and then some from where you were in a hot, tired, hungry and unappreciated state. And then you went and waited in that line for the food. You are a saint. Seriously. I'd have said fend for yourselves or starve.

They were lucky they got food at all (oh wait, that would be me talking about MY family):rotfl2:

We all have a moment, I had mine with DS12, who would NOT go to bed one night. Well, every night but I digress. 1am is not my idea of time to go swimming even if you are "operating on west coast time" I reminded her what a hard time she would have getting up.

"I don't care"

Me. Well I do, we need to get up and out of here to hit (wherever it was).

"I don't care (i.e. I REALLY want to go swimming, NOW)"

Me. Well maybe YOU don't but you are RUINING the mornings for the rest of us.

Yep. Some great parenting there.

VERY good information about Kim Possible. I had no idea. It will help set correct expectations.

Oh, don't you worry -- I have said things like that to all the members of my family at one time or another.

OMG-Jackie-you are not really a diva-you had a "meltdown" moment -which based on the situation- is really understandable...

You were hot, tired and hungry- (any one of those could result in a meltdown in the right set of circumstances...:confused3) Your carefully thought out and researched plans were under assult-I'm the planner here so I know what its like to plan so that your family sees everything trotting nicely along and not realize the reason everything seems so effortless is cause Mommy "made" it happen that way...

I tend to stay calm in 9 out of 10 of those situations and then on the 10th-well I kind of lose my temper...especially when being "questioned" on "why" I made a certain selection...and then its usually "well ok buddy you're in charge now-you figure it out..."...(& since I am far better at figuring out quick and spontaneous changes when called for-I'm usually met with a blank look...)

Yep, that's me to a tee! That 10th time makes me snap!

At Disney-when you make plans to eat somewhere-they've usually been thought out based on time and location, etc. and usually I've found the first selection often to be the best choice vs. changing it-unless there is a really really good reason to change...(I'm starting to really relate & empathize and feel your pain now...)

I think you were fairly even tempered considering-you didn't yell or sit down and refuse to get up or insist on Lotus Blossom...(sometimes- I get a little passive agressive in those situations and would have probably done something along the lines of "I'm sorry I've let everyone down by planning so terribly...since you all could do this so much better -tomorrow Daddy will take you to the parks and I'll go for one of the behind the scenes tours or a pedicure (assuming of course I could get ressies...) I'm sure you could do a bang up job without me...") that would get them thinking-my DH would look horrified...

Oh, I have taken the passive aggressive route before, too. ;)

So I think you were more than entitled to a little "moment" and eating and sleeping a bit should give you a brighter outlook...

It did help me immensely!

BTW-Connor is so dear to protect you even if perhaps he gave more info than you felt strictly necessary-

Connor is very much my sympathetic child when he isn't fixated on something he wants to do.

& a ? about these Kim Possible Missions-assuming you had had the time-would you have felt it was worth it to do more than one...?

or to rephrase -since these missions were obviously such a hit with Connor-how many of them could you have handled/thought were worth doing? (I'm curious because I was planning on doing one on our Epcot day but I want to know if I should plan in more...?

The KP missions are outstanding. They are really neat. It is worth it to do more than one, but I would plan on stretching it out over more than one day. Two or three would be my absolute limit since they do take about thirty minutes each.

Oh no what an interesting morning you had at EPCOT!!! I can't wait to hear more LOL!!!! I hope it all ended well!!! I'm sorry you missed your potential DISmeet with Anita! After all of that I really hope that cinnamon roll was really really good LOL!!! I think you were entitled to your diva moment and I don't think it was all the divaish...I couldn't imagine how I would have reacted with Prince P LOL!!

Well still can't wait for more!!

Thank you, Jen! Reading everyone's comments have made me feel so much better about losing it there for a little bit.

So funny about the safari.

Sorry you had a rough morning/early afternoon at Epcot. Being hot, tired, and hungry can make anyone snap.

Wondering if Connor got to do KP again later in the week.

Oh, just you wait! The Kim Possible Saga is far from over! :rolleyes1

CP.......

Where did you go?????? You admitted your brief moment of weakness, divadom, meltdown, whatever you want to call it and now you have disappeared! All I can say is I need everyone who has posted here in the last three pages to come over to my TR to support me when I describe my Epcot meltdown! It ain't pretty, but happened under similar circumstances! I can't wait until your next installment!

 I went to Chelsea's orthodontist consult and then we went to the pool so I could forget just how much those braces are going to cost us! :scared:

Yes, I urge everyone to go read MEK's TR -- it's a hoot! :thumbsup2

Jackie,
Your update made me realize I can write mine too. I think in the heat, after a few days in a hotel room you reach a point and that is okay. Especially when you work so hard to make everything perfect. I think I finally realized it this trip.... but I am sure I will try to make things perfect again next time too!

Oh, yes, if I can write about my meltdown (and the subsequent meltdowns of every single family member), you can, too! :thumbsup2

I will continue to try and make things as perfect as possible on our family vacations. I can't help myself!

Just caught up on all your updates and I love them all. You are so good at describing things that I never get intimidated at more words and less pictures with your reports!

Love that you fell fast asleep in the AC after a meal and being frustrated- sounds like something I would do- for sure!

Thank you, Julez! You always make me feel so good about my TR writing!

I am just unbearable when I get tired and hungry.

Jackie, Here's my question....
We you forced to dole out the "silent treatment"?
Anita

 That comes on Tuesday.

Lesley

Thanks, Lesley! You know exactly what I went through that day, then! KP became a thorn in my side, that's for sure -- just wait until Friday of our trip!

I didn't know Wigd had written a book!

That's the book I need! :lmao:

Bwahahahahahhaaaaaa!!!!!

Apparently, the silent treatment is quite effective in your home. ;)

Jackie, as I just commented over on MEK's thread, Epcot meltdowns happen in threes, guess who else had one?:rolleyes1

I think I remember hearing about this one as we waited for Illuminations to start -- is it the one I am thinking of that involves gum or did you already write about that one -- seems like you already wrote about that one?

Yes, a little boy! We're so excited. The heat was bad on some days and then not so much on others. The crowds were normal to me. We were at the parks at rope drop and left around 12-1 and always went back around 6-7pm. We had a blast but I am still so tired!!!! :)

Oh, I am so excited about you having a little boy! I bet DH is over-the-top!

It usually takes me weeks to recover from our Disney trips!

No, I haven't written about it yet, and that's the one! I think I'm going to take months to get this trippie written!
