Well ... it is official. My last day at the Beach Club will be January 25. Happy the house is sold. Unhappy because it's way too fast. I thought I had a few more months. So now I will be just like the rest of you ... counting down the days until my trip to WDW!!! And with Princess Lily, I'm sure it will be at least twice a year!!! In the meantime, stay tuned. Lily and Jeanne arrive Christmas night and after we celebrate Christmas on the 26th, we will be at the parks every day until they leave on January 2nd. So look for us if you are going to be at WDW over Christmas and if not, look for the pictures Dee will post off and on.

We were there too, about 6:50 - 7:10. I could not believe the mass of humanity. We have reservations for the dessert party Thursday. I'm wondering how we will ever get there to get checked in.

Go the back way, by Toy Story Mania, then when you enter the STREETS, you'll have to go around the fenced off area on the right - the checkin station is about 3/4 of the way around, and the line forms from there back to the right. We got there around 6:15 for a supposed 7 PM opening, and the line was already forming then. They let us in about 6:45. But this was the weekend right after Thanksgiving, and the crowds were less... It's great to have a seat to view the lights from, but the desserts were not very good.

I hope they don't stop accepting AMEX. That's how I earn my Hilton Honors points for my non-Disney trips. A lot of companies are dropping AMEX though. When I paid my phone bill (over the phone, ironically) the recording said they were no longer accepting AMEX as of 12/1. I know Costco dropped AMEX. I would probably book my Disney trips through third parties that still accepted AMEX if Disney decided to drop them. I haven't received a survey yet for my stay from last week, but I will keep an eye out for the survey and that question.

I would like to think the highest level decision makers at AMEX will change their business practices in 2016, otherwise they are going to be in trouble. For a very long time, they have charged businesses a higher percentage fee per transaction than Visa and MasterCard do (Visa and MasterCard is typically only 0.5-3%, depending on a retailer's size and negotiating skills, Amex charge 5%) and typically take twice as long to release cash to said retailer - so when I worked for a small retailer, a £100 in store sale paid for using VISA on Monday would see us receive £98.50 into our bank on Wednesday, but had it been AMEX, we'd have received £95 the following Tuesday. Several large corporations, such as my employer - a multinational with 50,000 employees and 10,000 corporate card users have switched card providers this year as industries try to reduce their finance costs. I imagine someone lost their job for losing my employer as a customer.

If companies such as Disney and IHG hotel group stopped accepting Amex... their revenue would likely half over the space of a few years. I doubt they'll allow that to happen - so expect to see a lot more places stop taking Amex in 2016, only to make a U-turn when more favorable terms are negotiated.

We will be at the WL in January and plan to stop by to see you on Monday, Jan 11th. It will be sad to see you leave. You make the BC an extra special place to visit. I'm going to miss you.

Congrats! And it sounds like a magical Christmas (and very bittersweet ) January 25th is a good day, it's my son's 15th birthday! Very sorry we missed you this week though

We are going to stay for 5 nights at either the Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas the first week in October 2016. I am leaning towards the Beach Club because of the pool. I understand renovations are starting in February. What are the odds they will be completed by October? What are the odds that they will update the standard view studios by then? We'd love to stay in a renovated room. Thanks!

So glad I had the chance to meet you last month. I am happy that you will be with your girls, but a little sad you won't still be greeting people at BC. As a long time "lurker" and occasional contributor, I've enjoyed your perspective and insight on this thread! I didn't garner up enough courage to introduce myself during our last visit in October, but granted another opportunity with your last day on 1/25 and our next visit for the marathon 1/6 - 1/14 I'll be sure to introduce myself and personally wish you the best!

Sorry you didn't quite get the timeline you wanted, but congratulations on selling the house! We arrive on Jan. 2, so I'll come by to give you a hug on Jan. 3, as I'm sure you will need one after saying good-bye to Lily and Jeanne.

We are staying one night at BC Villas on New Years Day. Renting points. Our first time there and looking forward to it. It's a secret Christmas surprise for the family. Since I am remarried and they have never stayed in a Disney hotel. We normally camp at the Fort but this is a short trip to take advantage of our new APs. You may add me to the guest list.

anyone else get a letter today in the mail regarding construction on the BCV side? we were moved from WLV due to the expansion construction project and now today I get this letter explaining that there will be construction and noise 9-5 during our stay?!?!?! This is so not funny... anyone think it wont be that bad? Is it just a room refurb or anything major? The villa quiet pool will still be there? right ? anyone with info please share!
