I stayed at wilderness lodge during construction of new villas. Never heard them unless they were backing up while rebuilding the new pool. Even got a pardon our construction pin.
I don
I prefer to stay away from the renos. For that reason, I won't be making any room requests for my summer trip til I have a better idea what buildings are being worked on.

I just checked in yesterday. 80's and 90's being refurbed now, first rooms will not be rented until June. Requested and got a room close to where I usually stay next to the lobby etc, 1210 in the 50's section

Thanks!

WOW!That seems like a long time to wait-I would think there would be QUITE a number of new rooms ready well before June.

I was thinking the same thing. But maybe they're waiting until they have one whole building completed before opening the rooms for reservations. That way no one would really be dealing with the noise while they're working on rooms. Just a thought.

anyone else read reviews all over the place? I was at all ears but uh there were a ton of bad reviews for Pop, anyone know whats going on? Looks like odd smells at some rooms, and some were really dirty. (according to others)

I've stayed at Pop many times and have never had a room problem, so I don't worry about it. If I did have a problem, I would deal with it right away. Most people only post bad reviews. I just don't bother with them.

POP is our resort, as you can tell by my signature, and we have never had any issues with a dirty or smelly room or hearing other people going to the bathroom or any of the other complaints. We actually heard more people at AKL then we did at POP. Like the op said more people review when they have something bad to say. POP is a great resort or we wouldn't go back over and over again.

We've stay at Pop quite a bit, it's our favorite. We have had a few issues before at Pop with our room, but they have always been addressed. Once was a broken shower head, which they fixed that day after I called it in that morning. We had a little more trouble with this last trip with a broken/ very loose shower knob (it kept slipping to scalding hot when you were in the shower so you could have cold or very hot only) and it was not fixed that day after we called it in that morning. We got in late, so we called it in the next morning before heading out to the parks, came in late again and it still was not fixed. Called and the guy came, it was like 11:30pm. He was there a while. If I'd known that, probably would have called in the morning again as we were wanting to go to bed. It was a little aggravating, but it was not a huge deal that would put us off Pop. It could happen anywhere. I'm glad they are renovating as the rooms do need it. Not in bad shape, just it's time I think.

Edit: I should also say I've never had a dirty or smelly room either. (We did have a horrible room at All Star Sports, it was in bad rundown shape) And the only noises I have heard is sometimes you can hear the water running or a toilet flush. Just like at most hotels. Nothing unusual etc.

Glad you were able to get your issues fixed! The best way to have things taken care of if there is a problem with your room is to walk directly to the front desk. When you call the front desk, you're still be routed to an offsite call center. It's hit or miss as to whether or not your problem gets resolved as some call center CMs are better than others at following through with complaints (as you experienced -- one of your issues was handled in an appropriate amount of time. The other one wasn't.). The success rate is much higher if you go to the front desk in person.

We had been up to the desk for another non-related thing after the second morning call, and they had asked if we needed anything else, and I mentioned the knob problem that we had called in again that morning. And they looked at it and said they'd make sure it was taken care of. But nope, it was the last call in from the phone in the room that got it fixed. I think I called housekeeping that time. Maybe that is the difference, as they transferred me to maintenance I want to say. Yeah, calling the "front desk" is useless most times. We'd learned that at All Star Sports :headache:

All resorts are going to have issues from time to time. of course it they happen to you it always feels worse, lol. Our last trip to WDW, in 2013, the safe in my room at the Dolphin was not working. Appearently it was an electronic issue, so it took two times for them to fix it, so it was a little frustrating, but they handled it great.

One of the things that always shocks me is how distructive some people can be with a hotel room. Honestly, if I'm staying somewhere I try to treat it like I would if I were at my house, and probly better, lol. This will be our first visit to a value resort and one of the things I've wondered about is if they get "beaten up" more than a moderate or deluxe? With a higher volume of groups and organizations of kids, do the rooms get abused more?

Speaking of discounts, hoping someone can help me deside our best option.

My brother booked 2 rooms for our trip in June. One for his family of 4 and the other for me. As of now, we both ended up getting the "free" summer meal deal, which includes 1 quick service meal a day for each of us and where trying to decide which want to go.

First of all, both rooms are separate reservations, so it should be possible for us to choose separate deals, right? We are leaning towards keeping his room as the summer meal deal. Since have a party of 4, we feel it's a better deal for them. As far as my room goes the room discount looks better. I think that will save him over $300, but it would cost me about $100 more for meals. Since he is paying for both rooms, I'm not gonna complain about $100 :cool1:

Second, our packages also has tickets included. If we get the discount applied to the my room that shouldn't be a problem for me, right?

My brothers family is currently on a one day trip to Wisconsin Dells (Water Park) and they're stopping by my house on the way back tomorrow. We're planning on finalizing our plans tomorrow.

You really need to run the numbers through the Disney system @mikegood2 and compare to what was originally paid as I don't believe any of us can answer those questions for you. Sorry

Thanks scrappinginonterio, I agree and that's what we plan on doing tomorrow, but after a quick look, I think our plan above would be a better deal.

I guess a better question is if we would run into any issues rebooking the rooms, or in our case maybe just one of the rooms. Since Disney runs different offers all the time, they deal with people rebooting, even if it's the same resort for the same dates all the time, right?

Rebooking a room like this is new to us. I'm hoping others might experience with rebooking and have useful advice.

I rebooked for someone yesterday @mikegood2 and I chose to take the 'safe route'.

I booked a completely new offer for them and only once it was booked, the deposit paid and confirmed did I then cancel the first reservation. I prefer the 'better safe than sorry route' and it's also very easy to compare the numbers that way. I write all the details about the initial booking (dates, resort, number of park passes, dining plan, etc) on a separate piece of paper to ensure I'm booking exactly what I want.

I hope this helps and you find are able to save some money today on your upcoming trip!

Just read through the last 120 or so pages of the thread in prep for my fourth stay at Pop in November! I'll be excited to see photos coming out when folks actually are able to get into the renovated rooms. Mostly hoping the renos are done in time for us so that I don't have to drag my coffee machine from home (such is the level of my addiction...lol).

Pop has become our go-to resort simply for the flexibility of using AoA transport and their food court, and for the lake view. I've no desire to stay at AoA but I think, for me, it's because feels too sterile, if that makes sense, and I think the reason is the vegetation. Because the resort is relatively new, the trees haven't filled in the way they have at Pop.

I'm not big on going back to a noisy resort at the end of a day in a noisy park, so I thought I would like moderates better but now, after staying in a few mods, I find I get the same "winddown" feeling by simply avoiding the food court and pool areas and strolling the long way around. I never mind being put as far away from the lobby as possible. As well I usually start the day before my kids are up by walking around the HourGlass Lake...like at Disney you really need more steps!!
