In one week from today, we'll be checking into a studio villa for our first ever stay at the Polynesian. Even though I've been lurking on this thread, I've been soaking in all the information and want to thank you all, especially Tikiman, for all the great information.

How early can you check-in? We will be arriving early so we can get to the parks for rope drop can you check-in and leave your bags in the car or is there a place to leave them or will they take them to your room when its ready? What do you have to do to the magic bands before you can go to the park? Sorry never used the bands before, and we will be using the military passes how do you get them on your bands?

You can check in as early as 6AM. You can leave your bags with Bell Services. I can't answer your other question as I have no experience with Military Tickets.

You can check in early but chances are you won't have a room ready. You can drop off your bags with bell services. Last time we used bell services you have to be in your room to have bags dropped off.
If you are talking about the military salute tickets they are separate from a hotel reservation and you can link them to your magic bands using the reservation number that is on the voucher if you have bought your tickets already. When we used them this past October we had to activate them at one of the park ticketing booths since they need to check your military id and collect information from you. Once your ticket is activated you are good to go into the parks using your magic band. I am sure the ticketing people can help you get your magic band linked to your ticket.

For anyone that is staying at the Poly now or very soon could you please tell me if they still serve the lobster roll at Capt. Cook's? Our first time at the Poly will be this May and I was really looking forward to trying it but it looks as if Disney has taking it off the menu.

My family has stayed there a lot of times and we have never heard the Luau. There is an increase of foot traffic during the Luau arrival and exit times but even being on the first floor we didn't have a lot of noise or anyone walking near our patio. There's a grassy area right outside of Fiji that's between the building and the Luau entrance so it's like a little buffer area.

Thank you!! Excellent to know.

Yes I know how the Touring Plans code works. I helped supply many of the room views (which now need to be updated since so much has changed since then. It works well but many want to request a specific room and I believe that limiting your request to a specific room or two can backfire.

I would be a little hesitant to request Fiji, Aotearoa or Tuvalu until the work to their supports are completed because we don’t know when that work will start or finish.

It looks like the supports around the DVC longhouses are the older bases so at some point it looks like those will need to be replaced also. I’m surprised they did not do that when they were working on converting those longhouses to DVC and they had the whole area closed off.

Sorry, I was just trying to understand. It sounded to me like you were saying not to use TP. Thank you for the info on possible construction. We'd really like the view from Fiji so maybe we'll wait a bit and see if there's anymore info on construction closer to when we leave.

This is what worries me. My hubby wants a marina view, so we decided to request Fiji when our time comes (18 days until online check in!)... but not knowing the scheduling of renovations is making me a little apprehensive to actually request that longhouse. :sad2::worried: I know requests aren't guaranteed. We did put it down in our notes when I booked our room that we wanted a marina view. I just hope our wish comes true and we magically miss the construction for Fiji - they have 78 days until we're there to get it done! Hahaha.:teeth:

Looks like we will be staying at the Poly (Hawaii) for 5 days mid November (split w/ BC). We last stayed during construction, so it will be nice to see everything finished & try out Trader Sams. :)

The Poly lounge is always so relaxing overlooking the lake. The chef is great too.

Just wanted to mention that if you get your request and there are renovations going on, you can always ask if a different longhouse is available. It's not guaranteed your location can be changed, but it never hurts to ask ;).

Sounds like a great trip, the best of both worlds! Happy planning :wizard:.

We will be checking in for the SW Run Disney races in April so not sure how many nights we will even be up for fireworks but still would like a view of the castle. We are staying in a DVC studio, so not sure if we should request a room closer to TTC. Any room suggestions would be a great help.

I'm going to sheepishly answer.....I don't know. :confused3 Last summer someone here on the DIS asked about Poly CL and the texting for the 4th FP+ and I replied that yes it was available. I did that because someone we knew had just returned from the Poly and it was available. I felt terrible when that person posted a couple weeks later, from the Poly, that no they did not offer it. When our friend was there they must have been doing a test because they showed me the texts from Poly CL going back and forth about the 4th FP+ after I questioned them.

What!!! dansdad you always know!!! Thanks for the reply anyway! :goodvibes I'm hoping this will change before our trip!

Sorry my answer isn't any more current, but no FP texting for Poly CL as of this past October. I haven't seen any chatter about it being added so I'm assuming that's still the case, but you never know. Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks t you too GADisneydad for sharing your recent experience! :thumbsup2

Currently at the poly and bell services informed me the east pool or quiet pool is targeted to open this weekend if no issues next few days.. !!!:duck:

:boat::woohoo::wizard:

We LOVE our arrival day! We just relax at the Poly and soak in the atmosphere. Then we go have a nice dinner at California Grill.
As DH & I (and DD!) have gotten older we find that the favorite part of our Disney vacation is just enjoying the resort, eating nice meals, and hanging out in the parks and paying attention to the details. The rides come in a distance 4th place for us!

Exactly the same here :goodvibes...and CG is generally on our must do list...And we love to savor the details! The windows on Main Street are a reason to visit the MK in themselves! :thumbsup2

I'm so happy to hear that you went last August and are going back this summer. I'm a bit worried about the heat for our August trip and am happy to hear that you didn't think it was so bad that it's keeping you away!

As some pp have said..August is hot, hot, hot...but..a good touring plan and afternoon resort/pool time make AL the difference....and being at a monorail resort truly enhances that ability...We'll be there in August too....hoping for some low humidity days....:rotfl:

Hi...I'm considering staying at the Poly for the first time this June. We usually stay at BWI or WL in a deluxe room and I was wondering if anyone knows if the Poly has rooms that are similar. I'm looking for 3 beds with 2 separate sleeping areas and 2 tvs. Are there any room photos on this thread?

Thanks!

We just returned 2 weeks ago and we loved staying at the Poly. This was our first stay there. We stayed in the
Pago Pago building. It was an easy quick walk to the TTC or the Poly bus stop. We loved the rooms, the rain shower was fantastic.

Does anyone have any info on resort activities (like the firepit/roasting smores)?

They have the firepit/roasting marshmellows at 5:30 each night. The lava pool is great too.

Only studios or bungalows at the Poly! Studio has one queen, one full pull out, and one twin pull down.

Theres a post on the first pages about the suites available. Maybe one of those will work for you?

This link may also help with room layouts. http://www.tikimanpages.com/poly/tonga-suites

Two quick question about standard poly rooms:

1) How's the in room coffee? Weak? Acceptable? Is there real half and half?

2) Can I request an electric tea kettle for the room or should I just pack my own?

Thanks!

Is the patch to the TTC open again? not the workaround one due to construction, but the original patch?
Just curious, been about 18 months since I stayed here, and I booked for June, 2016
