How would you get to a pre-park opening Epcot breakfast from the Poly? According to the schedule, the monorail won't be running until 9 am that day. Do we catch a bus from the Poly or the TTC? Would it be easier to just take a cab. I know that when I've been there before with the monorail closed (unscheduled), the transportation can be rough.

My family is planning a visit in Aug. It will be me, DH, DFIL, DD5, D1.5 (who will be in crib or pack n play). We have chosen poly but need help choosing a room. Here are our options... (All with dining plan- a must for my DH)
1. Std room
2. GV club level
3. Std view studio.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Very cute profile pic!

You are only female with young kids. If that were me, I'd refuse to go. : o ).

If forced to go, I would most likely not want to be rope drop to close trapped in a park lugging all the supplies kids of that age require- which would allow for the restricting hours of offerings from Club Level. I'd also want some help, instead of using the small kitchen in a studio to prepare food and then clean up after everyone eats, again Club Level instead of Studio. Of course- the men in your party could end up being helpful and know their way around a kitchen. In which case, you are lucky and may want to select just based on costs. Or, maybe a bigger room for more space might be a higher priority for you.

If this were me I'd strongly opt for CL purely for the extra "room" the lounge provides. It's a convenient place to hang out while others in your party are getting ready, napping, still sleeping in the AM, etc. Plus Hawaii is a great longhouse (IMHO) with little ones given the relatively central location, just steps to both pools, boat launch, etc. The DP and CL are overkill based on my family's style, but I read on here plenty of people do it. Totally depends on your dining wants/needs.

As you can see from my sig I'm a bit addicted to Poly CL so I may be a bit biased! Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip and enjoy the planning!

Unfortunately I don't know the answer on the buses but just wanted to say I've frequently used taxis in the morning from the Poly to get to non-MK area parks or other locations, especially if I need to be somewhere on time. It's convenient, doesn't really cost that much, and takes the stress out worrying about bus timing (getting out of the room on time for an early ADR is usually stressful enough).

Would you still recommend the CL level for just 2 people who would not be drinking any alcohol but would enjoy the breakfast offerings and possibly appetizers and desserts?

Hmm, I'm afraid to answer as it's so subjective. Obviously this is just my opinion, could have lots of viewpoints here. For me, the biggest benefits of Poly CL are that you know exactly what longhouse you'll be in, you know exactly what your view will be (within reason, for the most part), and you have a comfy lounge to hang out in as an alternative to your room which has arguably one of the best views of any location on property. The food/drink (not just alcohol) options are a nice benefit as well and more convenient than trecking over to Cap't Cooks for something simple, say for example, a cup of coffee. We don't really use them but the concierge staff are right there if you need any help. All of these are big pluses for me no matter the person count. Several of our Poly CL trips have just been two of us (me and DS). Whether any of the above is "worth" the extra cost is highly debatable, but we keep going back. I hope that helps!

Thank you it actually does help...we are coming in August trying to squeeze out one last trip before our AP expires on 8/12! Love the pool at the poly and plan to spend a lot if time there and considering the heat/rain it would be nice to have access to the lounge Instead of just the room during the afternoon downpours

Does this club level do the fast pass texting service or something? I read about it a little on the CL thread. Thanks.

Unless it has been added recently, I'm pretty sure Poly CL is still not offering the texting service like some of the other CL's. I'm looking forward to trying it out at GF CL next month to see how it works.

Hi! Staying standard view on the magical deal in August. It will be me, DH, DD 4, DS 10 months. Looking for suggestions on what to request for our room. We want to be near the pool, TTC, GCH and the baby will need a nap in the afternoon so nowhere with a ton of noise.

I was thinking 1st floor Samoa facing the quiet pool? I would like to face the lava pool but I'm concerned about daytime noise? Any other suggestions?

It was our experience in December that there were no busses running from Poly to parks serviced the by the monorail (Epcot and MK), even during hours that the monorail was not running. We simply walked to TTC and caught a bus from there. Have a great trip!

Hi everyone,

I have been scouring this thread looking for information on WiFi but I can't find anything. Does Disney offer free WiFi at their resorts? I have a short stay at the Poly at the end of April and am hoping to stay "connected" during that time.

Thanks!

Yup. Free WiFi at the resorts and the Parks.

We love Samoa! I think it has the best location of all the longhouses. We have stayed in Samoa twice, both times facing the quiet pool. The lava pool can be noisy and I appreciated the quietness when sitting on the balcony.

I think it would be easier/faster to take a cab, but walking to the TTC would also work without too much trouble :).

My choice would be GV CL. We haven't tried CL at the Poly, but have stayed CL at other resorts and I agree with GADisneyDad14 that the lounge is great for a little extra space. We don't stay CL every trip but when we do, it's more for the lounge and having another place to sit and relax rather than in the room or around the resort. It's also nice knowing which longhouse you will be in, as well as being just steps from the pool if you will be spending a lot of time poolside :goodvibes.

Would you still recommend the CL level for just 2 people who would not be drinking any alcohol but would enjoy the breakfast offerings and possibly appetizers and desserts?

As the pp mentioned, the answer is subjective as everyone has a different opinion. With that said, I think CL is nice, even for non-drinkers. As I posted above, it's nice having the lounge for another place to relax with great views. The food offerings/drinks are a nice perk, but when we stay CL it's more for the lounge and having another place to spread out/relax than it is for the food/drinks ;).

I agree! :thumbsup2

If you will be spending a lot of time at the resort/pool, I think CL would be a great fit ::yes::.

We've only stayed in Samoa and loved it as we were just steps from everything! I don't think there's a bad location as the Poly is great no matter which longhouse you're in, but Samoa is great, IMO :goodvibes.

Just got back from the Poly and had the pleasure of staying in three different rooms so I can give some feedback on Fiji, Raratonga and Samoa.

Fiji: Our first room was on the ground floor in Fiji facing the beach. We were only here for one night though because we booked two queen beds and they gave us a king room which did not work for our family. Pros: Semi-private, everything in the room worked. Quiet during the day Cons: LOUD during the luau. Let me preface this by saying I used to live on one of the noisiest avenues in NYC and currently live under a flight path near Dulles. Noise does not usually bother me. This was unbearable. It was like being in a hotel room directly above a nightclub. If you're planning on staying up past 10pm then it shouldn't be a big deal, but if you have little kids and are planning on getting to bed early I would not request Fiji. The marina side is probably better because you at least have a row of rooms buffering it, but we requested it and didn't get it so there is no guarantee.

Rarotonga: Our second room was on the ground floor in Rarotonga facing the monorail. I LOVED this location. If it wasn't for the fact that we woke up to a group of construction workers drilling/hammering/sawing on our patio the next morning, this could have been my favorite longhouse. Pros: Very private. Blissfully quiet (at first). Couldn't hear the luau/ boats/ construction/ fireworks. Awesome view. Perfect location- very close to the GCH, pool, laundry areas and TTC. The path to the TTC was closed due to construction so you had to walk along the parking lot to get there, but it only added about a minute onto the walk. Cons: Our room was falling apart. The sliding door didn't lock. The safe was broken. The outlets either didn't work or the plug would fall out after you plugged something in. Just felt really old and dilapidated. It did have a brand new ceramic ionic hair dryer though! That was nice.

Samoa: Our ultimate destination was a room on first floor Samoa facing the volcano pool. At this point we were ready to check out and go to a different hotel, but this was a game changer. It felt like we were in a different hotel. Pros: Amazing view. Everything in the room worked! Zero construction noise. Got the afternoon sun so the rooms didn't feel so dark. You can walk directly from your patio to the pool. You can walk out of your room and see the fireworks. Still a very convenient location even with the construction because you can just cut through the longhouses to get to the TTC. Cons: Not very private. You get loads of people walking past your room during the day. They play music over the loudspeakers at the pool until around 4ish (?) so it might be a bit noisy if you are planning on coming back to the room for a nap during the day, but it's not as bad as the luau. Also, you will get the noise from the fireworks and the water pageant but, again, peanuts compared to the luau noise. Bottom line, this room is awesome. Loved it. If I could be guaranteed this room every time I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Other notes:
Transportation- monorail was running on a delayed schedule but we never felt like we waited for more than a few minutes for one to come so that was fine. The boat to the MK was fantastic. Always empty and never had to wait for it.
Food- We ate at all the restaurants besides ohana, and honestly I think my favorite was captain cooks. Super fast service. You're in an out. Breakfast food was pretty basic, with the exception of Tonga toast which was amazing, but the lunch was quite nice. The only food that I didn't like at the Poly was the food at the luau. We went about 10 years ago and I swear the food was awesome, so I was pretty disappointed when they brought out hard rice, soggy veggies and dry rolls without butter, which, had the rolls been as amazing as they used to be I wouldn't have cared. I was too afraid to try the chicken, but the ribs were OK.
Construction: You really don't notice it unless you are in a room facing it...or unless they are reinforcing beams on your patio, so I wouldn't actually be too concerned about that.
GCH: I love the new lobby. That is all.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry about the noise you experienced in Fiji, but glad the other rooms were better. We've only stayed in Samoa and loved it as it is very convenient to everything! Glad you had a nice stay overall :).
