Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Hi everyone! I am trying to book a 2 night stay in November. I can only see availability if I choose 3 nights. Is there a minimum for room only bookings? Should I just call them?

Appreciate all the ongoing updates! Keep them coming. I check in Aug 30 to a resort studio on rented DVC pts, will make the best of whatever is happening. As long as I can hang by the pool some afternoons, staying at GF has been a bucket list item and it will be great!

If I checked in today for outer building lagoon view what are the chances of getting a newly refurbished room?

Sorry I haven’t kept up with the progress with all the construction going on. Thanks in advance!

You can book 3 nights and then call them to shorten it to 2

Ooh, that construction outside Gasparilla kind of takes out the main fireworks-watching spot at the GF, doesn't it? I too have a late-August trip on rented DVC points and our arrival night plan is to watch the MK fireworks from either the GF or the Poly. Looks like Poly may be the move?

We like watching from the boat dock or even the Beach pool if we do not feel like going back in at night. Enjoy.

Hey there. I'm sorry, I don't have personal experience with those. I thought they came with a snack basket - think chips, Oreos, etc. From the Page 1 info, which I 'think' is accurate (with the usual Covid caveats, just in case they've tinkered with things:

POOLSIDE PATIO AMENITIES:
  • Padded lounge chairs
  • Padded sectional couch
  • Snack Basket
  • Complimentary sodas and water
  • Snack basket (may not be available without advance reservations)

  • FULL DAY POOLSIDE PATIO RENTAL - $159.75

POOLSIDE PATIO

I just booked my poolside patio for September and it was $106. At first I thought I misheard her, but I went back and looked at my credit card charges, and it was $106.50. I'm not sure if there is a discount because of the construction, but both the Courtyard and the Splashpad ones were the same price. Just an FYI for anyone looking to book one, that it might be discounted!

OMG. I’m so glad you just posted this. I just called to try to book my early September days for the poolside patio (I tried at the 60 day mark and there was nothing available but figured I’d try again after reading this figuring i’m really late & never going to get them) but I did both my dates were available! And both days were $106.50 also…i should have asked why the discount but was so excited to get to book them that I forgot.
anyway. Thank you! Thank you!

Also, just for referenc, I think when I called at the 60 day mark that the CM & I was confused & thought I wanted a cabana. I don’t think I was clear enough that I was looking for a poolside patio. So this time I made sure they knew that was what I was looking for.

Just an FYI for anyone else that books..I think they just might assume your looking for the cabana as that’s the only option that comes up on the phoneline, but IDK

That's great! They didn't say to it me like it was a discount either...I was just expecting it to be the $159. She just said it matter of fact, like $106 was the price. Maybe it's because it's the "less busy" season. But my guess is its because of the construction around the exterior of the main building. We booked our patio for a saturday though, so it shouldn't be too intrusive :)

I just found this posted in June on planDisney.go and it’s the same pricing at the Polynesian also

https://plandisney.disney.go.com/question/pricing-full-day-cabana-rental-october-541427/#:~:text=A%20Cast%20Member%20also%20explained,currently%20%24106.50%2C%20subject%20to%20change.

”A Cast Member also explained that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort also have poolside patios, which include two padded lounge chairs, a sectional couch, a table, and an umbrella. The price for these patios in October 2023 is currently $106.50, subject to change.”

Typically the cabanas and patios are priced seasonally and will fluctuate depending on how busy the season is. I noticed on Page 1 I wrote “Priced seasonally” for cabanas, but forgot the note for the other two. Updated. Enjoy!

Would you be visiting multiple parks? If so, what’s the priority?
Good question! We use to be "park til you drop" guests, until we discovered the Grand Floridian Band, Royal Palm Club Level, etc...Yes, those were the days! Things are alot pricer now, and just different. However, when we have traveled other places, we missed the little things at Disney. But, to answer your question, if we make the trip this year, we are looking forward to staying at a Disney resort, pool, and visiting the parks for a few days.

Where do you plan to stay on your next visit? Do you have a favorite resort?

If you plan on doing all of the parks, then maybe a split stay would come in handy between BW and GF, that way you get the best of both worlds. Plan your park days around the ones that are closest to the resort you’re staying. However, I’ve stayed the same duration at both resorts and wouldn’t mind that either. Depends on your family’s preference. Enjoy and good luck deciding!

In addition, scrims have been placed on the upper balconies.

The upper levels of the main building are home to some of Grand Floridian’s Club Level rooms.

During our visit to the Grand Floridian this afternoon, we were seeing signs of progress.

As you can see from the image above, some of the scrims on the upper balconies have now been removed.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done, particularly on the ground floor/lobby area.
