Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

CM you talked to was mis-informed call back. ;)

Cabanas 9B is Business Class, the rest of Cabanas is standard and waterview rooms.

Thank you! I know sometimes they make mistakes. I just wasn't sure if I missed something, since there are so many pages on this thread, or if she did, but I KNEW I could get the answer here!

Does anyone happen to know about how long it takes to get from CSR to DTD via bus?

Also, would you happen to know what a cab to DTD would cost?

Thanks :)

We are coming to CSR Oct 29-Nov 4. I have heard good things about Disney transportation but worry still. My DH does not have patience and I wonder if we should rent a car instead? I'm leaning towards buses, but wonder if anyone here has an opinion. Have you done both? Which was better?

My DH has zero patience and one of his favorite things about WDW is not having to drive. I think we have only one issue per trip with the transportation, but it's not enough to change his perspective.

We usually rent a car when we go to Disney. My last trip (end of May) I went solo and stayed at CSR, using Magical Express from the airport and Disney buses. I had no problems and everything went smoothly, but I have seen some report problems here and there. I am going back with DH and deciding between using buses again or renting. I think it will depend on what rental rate we can get. We are doing a couple of resort meals which will require extra transportation, but a few cabs are probably cheaper than the car.

Hey all! DH and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary at Disney September 5th - 13th and we are staying at Coronado for the first time ever! :cheer2:

Today marked our 60 days which allows us to complete the online check-in process. I have already made some room requests (easy ones like high floor and casitas) but I was going to put them in again through the online check-in just as a backup. However, when I went to enter the requests, Casitas section isn't even listed, and there are a bunch of buildings listed that don't even exist at Coronado...I think they are actually buildings at Caribbean Beach, but I'm not positive.

Anyone heard or know of any glitches with the online check-in system as of late? I'm in no hurry, but that definitely threw me off and now I'm wondering if I should wait or even do the check-in at all... :scratchin

I would have to agree with your husband. I don't mind the occasional delays for a bus or the inability to explore the non-Disney sights that a rental car allows for because I LOVE not having to deal with driving while at Disney!

We've never had a problem with the buses, but it does take longer than traveling by rental car. DH doesn't have the patience and would like to rent a car for our upcoming trip, but the rental prices for the second half of August are outrageous right now.

I had the same issue with Poly buildings listed as options even though we are staying at CSR. I am pretty sure there was a thread about this glitch.

I had the same issues over the weekend with Poly and other random choices showing up!! I was checking in online for POFQ and OKW - happened with both! :rotfl:

The question I would ask is does he have zero patience and zero concept of actual time passed or zero patience and a good grip on real time?

CSR is thought by many to have the most consistent bus service of all the WDW resorts. We have 36 nights at CSR under our belts and the bus service has been excellent. The problem I find with alot of impatient people is they have no concept of time. They complain that they have been waitning for the bus for 30 mins when it has actually been about 8 mins...lol!! I'm serious! I witness it all the time at WDW. The gap between their perception and reality is actually that big 30 mins when actually 8 mins. So if your DH is like that then he won't like the buses. If he's like me (I'm generally impatient), but has a good grasp of actual time and realistic expectations he'll enjoy not driving.

I have always questioned people who say having a car is quicker. We have never rented a car at WDW so I can't speak from experience. However, with the excellent bus service we have experienced at CSR I have hard time believing a car is consistently quicker by more than a couple mins and 1-2 mins wouldn't be worth the hassle of driving yourself.

For example: DHS is very close to CSR. On average we wait about 8 mins for a bus at CSR, last trip we used stop 1 so the bus left the resort imediately after that stop, and the drive to DHS is only 5 mins in light traffic and about 7 mins in heavy traffic. So thats 13-15 mins and you're dropped off at the front gate. There is no way you can drive from your parking space at CSR to DHS, find a spot to park and walk to the gate in much less than 13-15 mins. Same thing for Epcot and AK. MK and DTD take longer, but you tend to park alot farther out as well. Sure the times can vary a little, but I have a hard time believing the car would be worth the hassle overall.

I'm not picking on you, I'm more looking for your thoughts and experience compared to what I've speculated?

I have noticed the same thing, people exaggerating the wait times like crazy lol. I am impatient but for the most part I find the bus service to be good and for me the short waits are preferable to driving.

We only rented a car once. We did not find it any faster. We also did not enjoy trying to find it in the parking lot lol. It would have been faster for any resort to resort travel, I'm sure, but we didn't do any resort ADRs the one time we had the rental. Mostly it sat in the resort parking lot and we used the buses.

Yeah, it would be faster for destinations other than DTD and the 4 theme parks. Typically though, if we had an ADR at another resort we were at a close by theme park beforehand and then made our way over. If were had a reservation at any of the monorail resorts we are usually at MK that day. Boardwalk/Epcot. We wouldn't typically go to DTD just for an ADR, we would usually be at DTD. So for us the car just isn't needed. It does depend on your vacation style though.

I love using the bus/boats/monorails around WDW. It part of the whole experience. The only time we drive someplace is to go off property. We always go to Millers Ale house and Idrive when we are in Orlando. We never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a bus. On average, it's like 5-8 minutes for the bus we want.

We're checking in to CSR 7/21 and we're driving down. After doing some research, we decided to drive ourselves everywhere except MK and DTD. I just think in all other cases it will be quicker and more convenient to drive.

Just checked out from csr bc after 2 nights. We had a great room! I did online check in for 8:30am and the room was ready by 10:20. The mb would not give me access to the bc until I used it on the room door. It was busy with a dance competition but we didn't seem to notice too much since we were at parks. They did frequent the lounge a lot. Not sure if they all were staying bc or just letting ppl in. The bus to mk was fine and we didn't wait more than 10 mins to get on or wait for one going back. We drove to the rest of the parks. Housekeeping was fine and the room was clean but my dad did mention that the building needs refurbishments on the outside and some touches in the room. We haven't stayed in a non bc room since it opened and we will continue to stay at bc at csr!!

The only park we experienced waits with was MK the entire 8 night stay, and I do have a good grasp on time I assure you ;) The waits were excessive, and seeing multiple buses pass you by full to the brim at Bus Stop 4 in the AM isn't a good day starter for many. It was easily solved however by walking to Bus Stop 2. Just a little extra walk from BC but caused less headache traveling with 3 kids and 4 adults. We never had trouble getting back to CSR from MK however.

Driving a car can be quicker but parking it and getting from parking lot to park entrance can reduce its efficiency. It would be helpful if you had a lot of out of park reservations at other resorts though, not having to take multiple buses to destination.
