We stayed the 12th floor in May and they did not have their own check in, you do have to check in on the first floor. I don't think that has changed. The concierge sent a form to us a few months before our stay to put PS requests and any other requests. I always request my room view with CRO/WDW Travel Co when I make the reservation and I've always received my request, I've never faxed. I did request MK view as well on the form from concierge and we did receive the room. Good luck with your request, I hope you receive the MK view, it's amazing!
