We stayed in the north wing, MK side. We had a wonderful view of the fireworks right from our window! Yes, you can request this view!::yes::

Enjoy!

stupid question...

I will be staying at CR in may my question is say we want to go to MGM first thing in the morning what would be quicker use the monrail to say Mk then tranfer to a bus to MGM or just take the bus from CR to MGM??

the main reason i am asking is because my mother will be with us and the quickest and least amount of walking for her would be good.
thanks Brooke

I don't think there is a bus from MK to MGM. The easiest/fastest way is just to go to the bus stop right at CR. Take the MGM bus. The buses start running about an hour before park openings.

Hi Kimberle :wave2:. Nice 'seeing' you away from Humphry's Home :)

OK Contemporary experts. I am in a dilema. I've not stayed at CR before (but I have seen the rooms). Anyhow, I'll be staying at CR from Apr 30 - May 5 with DS5 and DS1.

My sister is getting two rooms and said that I don't need to get one, that we could bunk with them. Here's the situation. There will be a total of 3 adults and 7 kids (ages 1, 5, 5, 5, 10, 11, 11). Basically 10 people. I know that CR holds 5 people each.

What do you think, should I just book my own room, or should I save the $$ and stay with my sis and her fam?

Well, I think it depends on your comfort level and need for privacy. The rooms at the CR are about the largest on the property. They are much bigger than WL. They have 2 queens, plus a sofa that folds into a bed. The also have a nice livingroom type chair. The wing room, however, do not have a balacony to "escape" to when you just want to sit & "chill".

I live the set up of the bathroom very much. You enter the main bath, find a double sink with plenty of storage room, large mirror, plus a tub and shower combo. In another room off the bath, is the tub & toilet with a counter, mirror and plugs. If you're an early riser, you can dress & use your blow dryer w/out waking everyone.

So, room wise, yes, 10 will be comfortable in 2 rooms. Privacy wise, it's totally up to you.

 Enjoy you stay! CR & WL are my 2 fav hotels.

I have 2 questions re: the Food and Fun Ctr. - where is it located and what are the hours of operation? We'll be there on an unexpected birthday trip for DD who's turning 5, and I'm curious about this. Many of my other questions have already been answered within this terrific thread! Thanks!

The food & fun crt are located not far from the lobby, closest to the north wing. The kids club is there as well. I *think* the hours are like 6 or 7am to midnight.

Have fun! Our dd just turned 5 & will be 5.5 on our trip! Be sure to post how well you liked the CR, most specifically the pool area.

To elaborate on the food and fun center----it is off the lobby...if you are walking in the CR, the check in desk is on your left; if you keep going straight and take a left at the TV, you will see the food n fun center. I *thought* the food and fun center was open 24 hours---the grill is only open from 6 AM to 11 or midnight, but I *think* you can go and get a soda or an already made sandwich 24 hours a day. You can at least refill your soda mug 24/7.

:bounce: **Just a little bump back to page 1!!

I just read on another thread that the snack center does not have much of a selection ... maybe one of the worst of all resorts... is this true?

Mornin' all!! Have a great day! :wave2:

I don't recall the snack center being any differen fromt he rest of the resorts. I remember candy, chips sandwiches, cookies, salads. As far as food goes, there was the usual fare for a DELUXE resort. I can't say that any DELUXE resort has a great selection of food as I believe they would rather try you to eat at one of the sit down restaurants and spend the extra $$. It is not the worse. I've been at WL and AKL and must say that they don't have a lot in the way of offerings and have heard others complain about this.

The Contemporary is one of our favorite places to go - probably because it was the first on site hotel we stayed at - so it will always be in our heart. As far as fast food goes - we think they are the worse. Always seems like it needs a good clean up crew. Grand Floridian fast food has it all over the Contemporary. So does the Wilderness Lodge and they are even smaller.

However with that said - it is right outside of the game room and off of the lobby down a few steps. It has alot of seating and a great condiments bar. The staff is usally extremely friendly.

The pre-made sandwiches I think are just what you think they would be. Pre-made. Hot foods are a little better and the breakfast selections are pretty good. Kids really seem to like the atmosphere.

The Contemporary also has a coffee bar right off of the lobby - they used to have bagels and cream cheese in the am - not sure about now - but will find out in December. :teeth:

Does any one know what the rooms on the 14th floor look like? I have read somewhere that they are in earth tones rather that the reds and purples of the other rooms. I don't really care, I'm just curious.......OK, I admit I could do without the red and purple!

Also, if we have a PS for the California Grill at 7:10 will we be there for Wishes?

One more question....as far as PSs and table choices, are the concierge staff more likely to get you a good table with a good view than if you asked when you arrived at the restaurant?

Thanks to Kimberle and Alice28 for answering my question. I have always said that I didn't like the "modern" look of the CR and would probably never stay there :o ;) , but right now it was the only resort we could get with the latest room-only code for our trip dates. So we went with it and I started reading this thread, and now DH and I are really excited about staying at the CR for the first time!

Thanks again!

Good Evening

Does CR have water transportation to DTD, I think I would rather take the water taxi than the bus, what you you guy's think??

Also I have never stayed at CR before so when I called and made ressies, the CRO was telling me about CR and she booked me in the tower and put on my ressies for the M.K. view and also the 11th floor(I know it is just a request) but my question is if I get the M.K. side will any room or floor still have a good view of M.K. and also the fireworks.
thanks again,
Brooke

No water transportation to DTD, only bus. However, the service is really effecient. As far as the MK view, the MK view side has wonderful views no matter where you are, but the higher the better. You can step out onto your balcony and enjoy the sights.

Hate to be a bother again, but what different places does the water taxi take you, the main reason I am asking is because I know my 10yr old will get a kick out if it.
thanks Brooke

I know it goes to the WL and to FW. I never tried to see if the boat launch takes you from the Contemporary to the MK. I do know that you can switch to the WL and then board a boat launch to the MK.

Great Thread!
We are staying at the Contemporary this May. Theres not much talk here about the wing rooms.

Are they really all that bad?
I have read more than a few bad reviews.
Thanks.

Boat launch only goes to Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge---you're staying on a Monorail Hotel!!!! You take the monorail to Epcot and the MK or the Poly or Grand Floridian. You can take busses to AK, MGM, DtD, and the water parks. You can take the monorail to the TTC if you need to hop to a different hotel.

As far as the wing rooms go, we didn't have any major complaints. The rooms are very spacious and are decorated the same as the tower rooms. However, the N. Garden Wing's hallways and common areas seemed a bit dingy. I think Disney let things go a bit while Shades of Green guests stayed there, which is too bad. I only say that cause I went twice last year- in March and then again in October. There was a HUGE difference in visual cleanliness to me....scuff marks all over the hallways, an Exit sign hanging by a wire the whole week we were there, room service trays sitting in the hallway ALL day....in March we didn't notice this at all...in October it was pretty bad but not horrific. And like I said, the rooms themselves were very clean.
