Ok Bambi, i've got questions...

1. are the CW (king) rooms regular size and the rest of the rooms are longer or are the king bed rooms shorter?

2. What is between the 2 sides of the floor. can you walk straight across from a MK view room to a baylake room? It doesn't open to the lobby, correct?

3. The presidential suite?!!! how did you manage that? lol

I cant wait to read and see more!! you have me so excited for our trip now!!

mike

LOL! Here you are!!! THE pictures of the 14th floor of the CR !

Mike, the king rooms may be shorter, but they are wider.
You'll get an idea by looking at the Presidential suite pics.

You can not walk straight across the floor to view baylake.
the area you are looking at on the floorplan is mechanical areas, staff elevators, airconditioning, water pipes, etc.
Therefore, unlike the other tower rooms, you can NOT look down into the CR's concourse.

Presidential Suite! Lady Luck was smiling on me that day!:teeth:

Enjoy!

We're thinking of splitting our stay between Contemporary and the Dolphin. Tell me about Contemporary's bus service. Do they share buses with other resorts? How long does it take to get to MGM and Animal Kingdom?

Hi,
Every Disney resort either has multiple stops (mod's) or shares with the exception of AKL and Pop. When we stayed at CR a couple years ago, we shared with WL (after seeing it in person, I knew I just had to stay there!!) and GF. I don't recall stopping at the Poly. (You will just share with 1 other resort per bus.) The service was fine. To MGM & AKL, I'd say between 20-25 minutes. CR is on the opposide side of the park from them.

If you're spending a lot of time at MK, CR is the best place to be. You can just walk home and not have to fight the crowds after Wishes.

That's why we're doing CR this year too. My DH would just want to veg out at the resort after an early dinner, but me and DD were ready to head back to MK for a few more rides and Wishes...the only lousy thing was the long waits to get back to the GF on the monorail...we just started hanging around the castle for about 30-45 minutes until the crowds thinned out a little. But it made for a late bedtime for this tired commando mom...so I figured if we stayed at the CR we could walk back to the resort after the fireworks.:sunny:

I was wondering, has anyone ever upgraded when they checked in from a wing room to the Tower? If they have it available, will they offer it to you at a reduced rate or is the rate the rate?? I am booked into the wing for 5 nights and would love to move into the Tower but right now the difference is $109 a night. Also, I have reserved a Pontoon boat for the MK fireworks on Nov 1st. What is the appropriate forum to post to see if anyone would be interested in sharing it with me, my DH and DD? There are only 3 of us and the boat holds up to 12. Any advice is greatly appreicated. Thanks!!! :wave2:

thanks for posting this!! I will be there Oct 29-Nov 2nd. also the wing room- just could not beat the price!!! and the locationprincess: i was also wondering about upgrade!! would love tower

Well, I switched my ressies for a 3rd time! I booked Contemporary tower for 4/30 - 5/7 with AAA rate. We were convinced by this thread! I must admit that CR didn't really appeal to me or DH, but I know our two DS's will go bonkers over the hotel, and you can't beat the proximity to MK! So now we're thrilled to stay at CR!

I have a question though. I booked a tower room, but didn't request MK view. Should I have done that at time of booking, or can I fax hotel before I arrive? When do you usually request room location?

We will be celebrating my 2 DS's birthdays, so I want a special view. I notice you all seem to like 11th floor? Tell me about this view?
Thanks!

We stayed at CR last 5/31 to 6/6, and the buses to MGM and AK were shared with Poly and GF. CR is the first stop (CR to Poly to GF to MGM or AK and back to CR ....). The longest we ever waited for the bus at CR was about 15 minutes, but we did wait around 25 minutes at MGM for a bus back to CR once. We liked taking the monorail to Epcot, spending time there, then taking the boat to MGM.

I never "knew" to ask when we stayed in the wing. The way Disney usually works is that an upgrade at check-in is the difference between rack rate of your level and the upgraded level. It is not based on what you paid.

It doesn't hurt to ask. I have heard of people asking what the rate would be to upgrade only to be told it is complementary.

I'm sure you can find someone to share your boat. These are posted over on the Theme Parks Attraction brd.

Good luck!

Good luck!

You should note your view request on your reservation. I don't know if the CR accepts faxes as some resorts don't.

I think people like the 11th floor because it is as high as you can go without staying Concierge. Back a page or two on this thread, Bambi has posted lots of pictures from the 14th floor. Many are "view" pictures. I'd suggest you take a look. They are great!

Have a wonderful trip!

Okay I changed my ressie from WL to CR standard wing room using code BAT. I saved $864.00 on 2 rooms. I couldn't pass this up. I really wanted WL, but I think I have convinced myself that this is a good thing. I have a dd4 and dd18mos, so being so close to MK is good. I can always take the boat to WL and eat at Whispering Canyon and check out the resort and decorations. So I am okay with that.

Is the transportation to MGM & AK okay? Also, I did not ask for any room preferences because I had not researched CR ahead of this. I thought I would be at WL. Should I call back and request anything in particular? Any advice on anything you can think of that I might need to Know? Thanks!

Welcome to the Dis!

I have stayed at both WL & CR and love them both. They are so different and yet so wonderful.

Ask for a room in the north wing. It is closest to the bus stop. We were on the 2nd floor abt 1/2 way down and had a great view of the fireworks every night. We also found the wing very quiet.

I found the buses to MGM and AK about the same from both resorts. CR & WL are so close, the travel time is almost the same.

You're right, just take the boat over to WL. It's very easy The small boat goes WL/CR/FW (any order). Try eating at Trails End. It's a great buffet and inexpensive.

Have a great trip!

Hi all,

Since you are the CR experts, I'm hoping you can tell me if the standard wing rooms are in bad shape. I've read some really negative reviews but I can't pass up the deal I just got!!!!
(12/8 - 12/12 Standard Garden Wing AP Rate $131 + tax per nt)

We have never stayed at the CR but I have really wanted to give it a try. Does anyone know if the wings have been renovated in the last few years?

This is a surprise trip for my 12 yr old son and I'm so excited I don't think I can keep it a secret!!

Our AP's expire in Feb. and we won't be back for awhile so we wanted to sneak in a last few days during the Christmas season.

Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.:)

I am going 10/29-11/2. This is our first time at the Contemp.
I have a wing room. But don't plan to take the bus this trip. I would prefer being closer to the walkway or the monorail. What should I request for a location.

Deneen

Niks' Mom...we will also be there 4/30 - 5/7 and we will be celebrating our DD's 6 birthday (5/1) We will staying on the 12th floor Tower Club...my husband has ALWAYS wanted to do this but I always change the reservation before we go....If do that this trip I face divorce or worse.:hyper:

Lisa,
Maybe we'll bump into each other. I talked to the nicest CM yesterday. She used to work at the Contemporary and just raved about the hotel, so we are so excited! She mentioned that there is a birthday cruise. I'll have to look into that!

The North wing is closer to the walkway to MK. (South wing is closer to the pool.) As for the monorail, I'd say they are abt the same or the north is slightly closer.

I don't know how long since the wings were renavated. I think it was before our trip in 2001. We really enjoyed staying in the North wing. Ask for a room that has a view of the fireworks. It's very cool to see them from your room! (We were in the north wing.)
