They can guarantee a non-smoking room for medical reasons (such as asthma). Just make sure you mention it when you make your reservation. DH has asthma and we stayed at the South Wing last June, which has smoking rooms in the building. We didn't notice a difference at all and we are usually pretty sensitive about secondhand smoke.

I was looking at one of the guidebooks I have, and I stated that the two different garden wing buildings, one is smoking and one is non-smoking. DD is asthmatic and I would prefer the building without any smoking rooms. Can this request be accomodated by Disney if we choose a garden wing instead of the tower? Last time during our WDW trip the resort where we stayed, would not accomodate our similar request. Just wondering if the luxury hotels would be more accomodating.

I just scrolled through 22 pages of posts and unless I spaced out, I did not read a single post from someone who prefers the other (non-MK) view. Can't you see the water parade from the other side? Is it correct that the MK view is best from the highest available re.g. 11), but wouldn't the parade (viewed from the other side) be better seen from a lower floor?

Wendy, what rate did you get with the code?

I thought i heard there were fridges in the rooms but maybe that is the 14th floor

I was quoted $305/night for October.

Hum. I wonder if they have any rooms on the 14th floor.

Kimberle,

Thanks for the contact information.

We stayed in room 5114 in south wing and liked it. We could see the water parade from our room on the first floor. You can find my more detailed post on page 17 of this thread.

Is the valet service complimentary if you're on the 14th floor?

Also, is the 14th floor open so that you can see down to the 4th floor? I thought it wasn't.....if that's truw then what is in that space between the two sides of the building?

Wendy I had a similar question about the refrigerators as I am staying on the 12th floor. Does anyone know or is a phone call warranted here for this?

When we stayed at the CR last summer we were on the other side. We were on the 12th floor. Watching the electrical water parade was great. You could also see EPCOTs fireworks everynight. It was a great view, and I would highly recommend it to everyone. It is so peaceful to look out over the water. You could also see another fireworks show in the distance, but we could never figure out who it was.

I can't say much about the 12th floor service except that it was limited. You can see down once you come out of your room and look over the railing. There isn't much of anything else there. The 12th floor is limited to food in the morning and a snack in the afternoon. While we were there, the staff often left our snacks with drinks (water, juices) in the room for us which we just loved. There is no night food offerings nor any drinks. We checked in late when we arrived and call the staff and they brought us down snacks from the 14th floor. This is very nice to know if you are a late arrival. If they haven't contacted you, it is not a bad idea to call them. I also had to call for turndown service, but once I did, they came every night after that. Refrigerators are not included. You can ask for one and I believe they give one to you if you are on the 12 or 14th floor. We nver had need of one, so we didn't ask for one. There was not a stroller rental. I wish, it would have saved us from bringing ours. Hope this helps

We were on the 12th Floor in May and had a refrigerator in our room. We did not request it or even use it. They did not tell us it was there, we just found it behind some doors. They did try to charge us for it. My wife went to the Concierge twice and to the front desk twice to have the charge removed. It annoyed me that it kept showing up on our bill. The moral is to CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY.

I called today to see about possibly upgrading to 14th floor. No luck. I asked about the refigerators and they said they were included.

Wendy, I did the same through my travel agent today and confirmed the frig in the room although I will confirm the potential charge when I check in.

THanks.

Hi! we're considering a split stay between the CR and WL....a few quick questions if you don't mind!!

Did anyone get a tower room with a July code, and if so, do you mind telling me how much it was?

Does anyone know the summer AAA rate for CR this year? (just wondering what it might be next summer!)

If you are in one of the standard wings, do you walk outside to get to the main building to get the monorail? (sorry, that's probably a dumb question!) Are there any standard rooms that have a view of the MK?

thanks!!!!!!!!!:)

hi! WELCOME TO DIS! :D Good questions :)

I can answer one at least :) if you stay in the wings you do have to walk outside to get to the monorail. But it's not that far and most of the walk is indoors in the hallways; then depending on which side of the building you're on you can always cut through the game room on the main floor to get to the lobby elevators.

To get to the monorail station, you go into the A frame building (main building) and take the elevator/escalators to the 4th floor Grand Canyon Concourse. Then there is another escalator (elevator for the disabled) that takes you to the monorail station. You must use these last elevator/escalator to get to the monorail there isn't another way directly.

Now, I don't know about the standard view/magic kingdom, it's been awhile since i've stayed in the wings. but i am going in a couple weeks so i can tell you when i get back!

The AAA rate is generally 15% off of rack rate, it has been for the past 2 summers.

Hope that helps! THe CR is a great resort, it feels like "home" to me in WDW!

thanks for the help, geek!!! I'm printing it out right now! I *love* your 2 generations pictures...that's awesome!! :)
Have a great time on your trip!!

CanWeGoNOW,

To get rooms with a MK view, ask for the north wing. We were able to see the tops of the buildings from our north wing room. We also had a great view of the fireworks from our room.

We loved our stay and can't wait to return!

thanks for your help too, Kimberle!!!! A great view of the fireworks would be perfect, since they are too loud for my son, so we won't be able to watch them at the parks!! Hope you have a great trip too! :)

Kimberle....you are in for a real treat at the CR's 14th floor.

I'm still in the process of downloading pictures, but I got the floorplans and layout for the 14th floor.

Also, your fridges will be stocked with various sodas, water, and plastic bottled JUICES.
No boxed juices...I found this out just for you!:wave2:

I will post the pictures very soon!

BTW....we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite.
What a suprise!:earseek:

Thanks, Bambi!

We're only a month away & I can't wait!! We really want a Bay view. I see there is only 1 "regular" room. I sure hope we get it!

:sunny: :hyper: :sunny:

Ok Bambi, i've got questions...

1. are the CW (king) rooms regular size and the rest of the rooms are longer or are the king bed rooms shorter?

2. What is between the 2 sides of the floor. can you walk straight across from a MK view room to a baylake room? It doesn't open to the lobby, correct?

3. The presidential suite?!!! how did you manage that? lol

I cant wait to read and see more!! you have me so excited for our trip now!!

The rooms on each side open to the 4th floor concourse with gift shops, Chef Mickeys, The Concourse Steak House and the monorail track(the main lobby is on the first floor). There is a hallway right outside your door with a 4 foot high wall that allows you to see all of the rooms on the other side and down into the concourse. The hallway leads to the center where the elevators are. If you walk to the ends, you will find the stairwells. If you walk to the middle (where the elevators are) you can walk across to the other side. Does that make any sense?

Pooh&wendy i meant to say 4th floor not lobby.

What you wrote made perfect sense, thanks. I just thought the 14th floor didnt open up to the 4th floor.

Cmon Bambi...we need more pics....pleaseee.
