Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

We were in 1501! We were the first room as you entered the hall.

Hi! I keep wanting to come here to post a review and then I get overwhelmed with the thought of doing it! Two weeks to review is a lot! I'm going to attempt to do it with my focus on the CL/hotel portion more than the parks.

So we were at WDW for two weeks - June 30 - July 7th at Poly CL GV booked with a "magical" deal and July 7 - July 14th BC SV CL booked with Disney summer discount applied. We've been to the parks many times, so I'm going to mainly review just our hotel portions here - the parks were awesome - over two weeks we did everything we wanted to do, tried lots of new dining (The Boathouse, Garden Grill, various QS places, Liberty Tree before it closed)... we did the Family Magic Tour in MK (awesome!), BBB and Harmony Barbershop, tea at the GF and had lots of fun pixie dust bestowed on us (100th guest at The Plaza and got a free dessert from the Mayor, being picked to ride the carousel with the stepsisters and the stepmother and room upgrades) - feel free to ask me any questions about these things and I'll be happy to elaborate!

I'll start with our resort review for the Poly CL - We booked through a "Magical" deal for GV CL and checked it around 10am on our arrival day. We were not expecting any upgrades and were just hoping for a first floor room - we had come to terms with the possibility of East Pool construction and were just happy to be there! We had been up since 2am so my head was a little clouded when he gave us our room number. All the CM said was that our room was ready and it was nice and close to where we were - we have stayed Poly CL 2 other times and both times we were at the end of the building near the lounge so I was happy to hear that - but when we got up and walked out and saw that our room was to our LEFT (1501) I immediately realized that we had been upgraded to a LV room! I opened the door and we could see the castle, the beach, the bungalows, the water... I freaked out! I was screamed and dancing! I knew now that we would be able to see the 4th of July fireworks from our own patio and couldn't have been more excited! This location was perfect! The room was spacious and clean - we were thrilled! Over the course of the 7 nights, we did run into housekeeping issues as we seemed to be the last room for service during the day and the first room for turn-down service. There were many days that we were back from the pool around 3 or 4pm and our room hadn't been cleaned and then while we were in there they would come - for both services within a half hour! So there were a few days that we just requested towels when they came and that was it. Not a big deal but it seemed a bit odd. The lounge foods were all that others have reported except on July 4th - there were hot dogs, beans and other BBQ foods - we enjoyed it all very much! There was a roped off area on the beach for the fireworks viewing on the 4th but we just hung out on our patio. We loved the convenience factor of the lounge and the food choices were good. DH struggled with the all carb breakfasts but DD4 and I were fine with it. The lounge was extremely crowded on the 3rd and 4th but that was to be expected. We had no MB issues while at Poly - the gates at the pool sometimes worked and sometimes didn't - we did wear wristbands on the 4th only and that was the only day that we struggled to find a chair by the pool. All other days we were able to find a couple of chairs. My DD4 LOVED the splash area - this was our first time back since it had been added. DH and I enjoyed Trader Sam's while DD was at Lilo's Clubhouse - we ordered Ohana dinner for 1 on our last night to our room - it was a TON of food and I highly recommend it!

On July 7th we moved over BC - I'll have to continue this review later as DD4 is finally awake!

Thank you for taking time to review! :) Can't wait to hear about the BC!!!!! :D :D :D

Hi and welcome back! So we had one family in between us at Poly! I agree - that location is to die for. It's very difficult for us to stay anywhere else because of the view, patio right to beach, room right to pool, and we enjoy the lounge as well. We had the same housekeeping issues as you, of course being that our rooms were in same location. This was the first trip I didn't leave as much of a tip for housekeeping, in fact. We pretty much had the same review/comments lol. July 4 food was fun -- I loved the salad! I had the same struggle with the carb breakfasts, but DH and my girls were fine with it. So it was your DH that fed the ducks a little too, right? LOL, we did a little as well and we would notice a man 2 rooms to our left that was feeding them too :).

You'll probably get into this in your next post, but which CL experience did you enjoy more -- BC or Poly? Those are our 2 favorites and we often split or simply rotate our trips every other one. We feel that BC lounge food is WAY better than Poly, and of course the BC rooms are "brand new" so they get the thumbs up right now too. However, the Poly views are hard to beat -- we just love 1st floor LV. We didn't get a full balcony at BC (daybed is 1st priority, so it's rare for us to get both requests), and we are a total balcony family -- almost a necessity for us, so we miss it badly at BC....

I'm sure all this as been discussed before at some point but I just can't find the information anywhere any time quick!

My next DW holiday is probably just going to be me and my boyfriend for our anniversary year, we both love the BC and were thinking about going CL.

I can't remember whether the CL rooms are near the Lounge or not? What views you normally get? Are the rooms on a few floors or just one? And what 'extras' do you normally get in a CL room?

:)

DH and DD were obsessed with the ducks! We tried not to feed them too much - the room right to our right had bread outside of it so we got to see them a lot! We were all missing our pets at home so we felt like enjoying the ducks' company!

So... here is my BC CL review! :-)

On July 7th we got everything all packed up and bell services picked up quickly - we were out of our room around 7:15am I think. Bell services took our bags away and we walked to TTC to head to Epcot. Monorail started at 7:30am so we were able to get to Epcot for EMH at 8am. DH wanted to check us in early (he felt like if we did it early we would hopefully have the best GV room they had!) He walked over to IG around 10am and DD4 and I did some things around FW - our plan was to meet back up around 11am in World Showcase at Mulan M&G. After about a half hour, DD4 and I started to make our way over to WS and DH texted me to tell me that we had indeed gotten a great room - we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite! He said it was room 3501 - immediately I started to wonder why we weren't on the 5th floor - after all of my research on the BC CL I had only looked at rooms on the 5th floor! He then started to send me pictures of the room - and I couldn't wait to arrive!!!!

So, anyway, after Mulan we made our way to BC to go and check out the room before our B&C lunch ADR. We were on the end of the building as close to Epcot as you could get - great secret entrance/exit right outside our door (that we used frequently) but it was a hike to the lounge, pool, lobby and busses. We did have access to the lounge on the 5th floor but it was not nearly as convenient as the Poly lounge was to our room (there weren't many rooms that could be that close!) - Our SUITE (still love saying that!) was newly renovated and fresh and clean! It was nice after our first week to have the extra living space. We had a long balcony that you could see Illuminations fireworks from on one side and the Frozen fireworks from the other side - although we tended to watch those from our bedroom window instead. We had excellent housekeeping in our SUITE (love it!) - the only downside of the room (which is why we were probably upgraded to this room) was that the second floor construction was going on directly below our room. We could hear them mostly on the first two days - never before 9am and never after 4pm. It was not an issue for us at all. Interesting sounds that made us wonder what they were doing - but no issues. One day they tripped a fuse though and our AC went out. After a call to the lounge, it was quickly fixed and our room was cooled off quickly.

We noticed big black curtains up all over the 5th floor which surprised us as I thought work on the 5th floor was done. But it looked like many rooms were still being worked on which could've also supported us being moved - there seemed to be many people with club level access that were not staying on the 5th floor. Also, oddly enough our toilet and the door to the bathroom were poorly aligned - you had to scrap the door against the toilet to close the door! There was a little groove already formed on the door when we checked in.

We did have issues with our MB's while at BC for the first two days. It seemed that we were not alone with that - never a problem at a park - just with getting into our room - CM's were very helpful and apologetic and were able to fix it for us eventually without us losing much time. Once, the CM even walked all the way back to our room to return my MB after borrowing it to fix it. We were so appreciative!

The BC lounge was amazing!!!! The food there was by far superior to the Poly food - everything just seemed to have more effort behind it - more selections - more attention to detail. The CM's in the lounge were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful and magical! One CM even set up a little flower in a champagne class with a napkin as a table cloth for DD4 at breakfast one day because DD4 insisted on getting all dressed up that morning. She loved it and kept the flower for the rest of the trip! Chef Chris was amazing - he was so friendly and talked with us on multiple occasions -

Overall, we loved both hotels, both CL and both weeks of our vacation! I prefer to end a trip at MK so I think next summer when we do another long trip (hopefully) I'd like to start at BC CL and then move to Poly CL for the second half.

I still need to figure out how to add pictures here - once I figure that out I'll add pictures from both portions of our stay. :-)

Sounds like you've got some awesome trips planned!! :) For Poly CL GV I always request the 3rd floor. I find it quieter and I enjoy having a balcony. Atrium club at the CR is amazing!!!! One of the best WDW trips I had last year for sure. I don't even think you need to put in a request there unless you want to be closer to the lounge/elevators. But it's a short hallway anyway. All the rooms overlook the lake and pool area. So no dumpsters. :D

I can tell how excited you are! You're my kind of Disney fan! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your input, I am excited! In a way I almost don't want the trips to come, because the planning and excitement is fun, and then you get there and blink and it's over! When our August trip comes it means summer is just about over. After that I guess I'll be Ok with the December trip coming, as it will be the middle of winter with cold, snow, and grey for us! But then we won't have any more trips planned - at least as of now. However, when my DH realized that after our August trip we wouldn't have any planned he brought up December, so we'll see :D He blames me for all of our Disney trips, but I think he likes them more than he admits! We bought APs in Feb and planned for extra trips this year, and I can't complain as we did AKL in Feb, WL CL in may, and have Poly CL and CR CL coming up. I hate to see our APs expire, I don't know if we'll continue them or not. We tried it for a year, at some point we want to try some other vacation spots - at least when the kids get older!

I think I might request either third or first floor at the Poly. I think I would prefer the third floor, but since I would much rather have the first floor than the second with no outdoor space I'll try to be the least specific as possible to avoid the second floor. At the CR I might go with no requests :scared1::scared1: I don't think noise from CM would bother me, it's 12 floors up and I'm not usually bothered by noise unless it's bad and right next door, or the old elephants in the room above you. I did think those views of space Mt from just outside the room door were nice, but I'm not sure if that really makes enough difference to make a request. Those rooms would be the side opposite Chef Mickey's, correct?

I can't wait to try a new resort, but then I remember I have the awesome August trip long before the CR!! It's a nice problem to have, anticipating 2 great trips at once!!:banana:

I was told by the planning office that starting in mid-August ALL of the garden CL rooms in Hawaii will be taken out of inventory. I can hardly believe they are closing down all three floors. Anyone else heard anything?

That's so funny. I emailed the IPO a few days ago asking specifically about the first floor, as I had heard the sliding doors were locked in Samoa. I got a reply that the first floor rooms would be used, and the doors would not be locked. We check in August 15th, which is smack Mid August. I would be upset if we got a room with a terrible view, and then like a day later they stopped giving those rooms to anyone and they all got upgrades. However, it I got an upgrade it would be great! How's that for hypocritical?? So I guess if anything happens someone has to be the last with the construction view. I'm going to try not to worry about it and just see what happens when the time comes!

Nice review - thanks for posting! Sounds like we have similar feelings/opinions about both Poly and BC CL! We love that split too. Congrats on your suite!

Next trip I am taking the plunge and trying RPC at GF! The lounge food just looks amazing and we've always wanted to try GF. I think we'll do a split, starting at BC CL and then switching to RPC.... Just hoping we will love the trip as much without the LV patio room at Poly that we love SO much....

Hi, everyone...as some of you may know, (from the Beach Club forum thread) we were able to switch our Beach Club GV reservation to Boardwalk CL for our upcoming 40th Anniversary trip. This will be our first experience at Club Level...YES!!!!! Our dates are Oct 16 - 23.

I just discovered this thread, and I know that I'm going to love reading all about CL from all of you...it just may take me awhile to get through all the pages.... :)

You will love the GF and RPC!! RPC is amazing as the food offerings are great, the lounge is wonderful as it's spacious with great views, and the CL CMs are awesome :thumbsup2.

Club level rooms at the Beach Club take up the entire top floor of the resort. You book by category to insure your view (Standard view, Garden view, Pool/Lagoon view) If you want to be close to the lounge you can request that when you book, but requests are not guaranteed. For a list of extra amenities see page one. :D

Thank you for your review! Hearing about those black curtains makes me nervous!! Where were these curtains? In front of doorways? In the halls? Blocking certain rooms? I really don't want a room on a different floor so I'm going to be very disappointed if that happens. Our plane lands around Noon so I won't be able to check-in early. :( Now I'm really nervous about where they are going to put us.

Just hoping we will love the trip as much without the LV patio room at Poly that we love SO much....

How wonderful!! We'd love to try out RPC - maybe when DD4 is a bit older - we tried SL last summer when Poly was such a mess - I'm sure we'll be back at GF some point in the near future! We loved SL!

They were definitely working on the rooms that the curtains were in front of - I'm not sure what kind of work they were doing but the doors were open in those rooms and work was being done. It seemed like they were moving through the 5th floor even just in the week we were there - the curtains were in different places by the end of our week. They were hung on things kinda like you would see at a doctor's office to give privacy - on metal frames and placed in front of doorways - you could still walk in the hallway past them.

Is there a crash-course anywhere for adding pictures? I want to add them from my phone but not quite sure how to go about it! Thanks!

I'd love to be added to the CL vacation list.. but mine is a little farther away.. We'll be staying AKL CL Sept 29, 2016-Oct 6, 2016

To me, if they move you to a lower floor (unless it's a suite or deluxe room) then it's a major downgrade. My boys are older (14 and 16) and they travel back and forth to the lounge on their own. I don't want them on the elevator over and over, that's a pain in the butt. I just hope whatever they are doing is over by Saturday! :D

We think alike. This is one of the reasons we declined a complimentary upgrade from standard BC CL to a deluxe CL room in April. (The other reason was that the deluxe room was unrenovated, and the renovations were a big reason we chose BC for that stay.) We've stayed in numerous regular rooms, a deluxe CL room a 2-bedroom suite at BC, so I knew what I was declining. I could tell Neil thought I was crazy, but he made it work. So we stayed on the 5th floor in a newly renovated room that was the rare BC CL combination of a daybed, garden view and full balcony. Boys are 15, 14 and 8 - proximity to the lounge is wonderful.

I would probably take the suite, but I don't think I'd want the deluxe room. The nightly rate for the deluxe room is actually less than the lagoon/pool view I paid for. So if they moved me they'd also have to refund me the price difference.

Same here! The deluxe rooms are also hit-or-miss with the balcony situation. Two of them have juliet balconies only. Would not decline an upgrade to a suite. My parents were in a 1-bedroom suite once, and on another trip, we were in a 2-bedroom suite. Both were amazing in terms of view, space, etc!
