Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Question about tipping. I know the Concierge desk and CMs aren't allowed to accept cash tips. But, my understanding is they are allowed to accept gifts, especially ones from your home state. So, being from Las Vegas, I was thinking of picking up a bunch of casino chips to hand out as tips while staying at the resort. Do you think this is a good idea? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Yes! It's been such a cruddy summer here - chilly and rainy. I need to promise myself I won't complain about the heat and humidity in Florida ;)
It's so funny to hear that it's chilly and rainy somewhere! We've been dealing with a heat index of 106 for two weeks or longer. I honestly like hot weather, but this is even a little too hot for me!
Sorry, i forgot to insert your quote JDD...this is to you:
We live an hour away from WDW. I can promise you it WILL be hot and it WILL rain sometime between 1-3 pm. Dont pay any attention to the temps, only look at the heat index. For example, yesterday it was 86, however the heat index was 114!
Wow! Your weather is normally about what ours is (temperature wise) but that's insane! I've never seen the heat index that high for Orlando (even in August it was around 105...when we were there). BTW, my DH stayed at CSR for a convention and did the business class CL. He said it was pretty good. I personally would love to see pictures:)

It has been cool here this summer too. Not even hot enough to swim. And constantly rainy and gloomy. I'm ready for some blistering heat!!! :)

Heck, I can't wait to get to Florida for some "cooler" weather. I kid, but it's been a very hot summer here in Vegas.

Im going by what my phone says but I believe it because once you step outside, you definitely feel it! Currently, my phone says 86 with heat index of 110 and its only 10:05am. When, I leave for work at 7:30 am, im already sweating and we just moved from GA so I'm used to heat and humidity!!! For everyone just make sure to drink tons of water. For every caffeinated drink you have you need double the amount of water to make up for it, since caffeine actually dehydrates you. I think most people know this but when you're at WDW and in commando mode its really easy to forget this.

Hi everyone. I've been following for a few years now, and i think I may have even posted a few times over the years, but not regularly. I love keeping up with what's going on, and when we have upcoming trips it's even better. I tend to get really excited and read the boards constantly when a trip is in the next month or so and drop off after we get home and hit that post Disney trip depression! Now I'm beyond excited, we have 2 trips coming up and are lucky enough to be CL for them. We'll be staying at the Poly GV CL August 16-23, and the CR Atrium Club Standard View Dec 23-29.

We've stayed at the Poly CL 3x before, GV twice and TPV once. One of our GV stays we got room 1515, which faces the lagoon (it was reclassified due to the construction fence at that time), and it ended up being great. I am kind of concerned about our view this trip, with all of the construction, but we got the "Magical Deal" and I can't come close to the rate even with our AP discount, and I really don't want to give up CL, so we'll just deal with it. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions about what might be better during construction - third floor with a balcony that I assume will overlook the construction and give you a vista of what used to be beautiful and quiet but will now be a mess, or first floor with what will I assume be a view to fences. Or any thoughts over whether the end of the building near the lounge or away from the lounge would be more shielded from the construction? I did contact IPO, and FWIW they told me the first floor rooms would remain in use and the doors would not be locked. But who knows, I have read differently elsewhere. I would not want a room with a locked patio door, I would prefer the second floor with no outdoor space to that. I've always thought I would have to not have a balcony or patio, but th construction is making me think I care less about that and more about having the most space between our room and the construction. Luckily my DH isn't worried about the construction, he says when we're GV we don't use the balcony much anyway and we can still see the fireworks and view from the lounge. I'm hoping for the best. The new kids water play area looks great for my DSs 2 and 5, a since it will be August I assume we'll get to use it a lot! The loved the play area at the GF last Sept, and I think this one looks even better.

I'm really excited about the CR over Christmas. I know it will be crazy, but we've never gone actually over the holidays and staying at the CR we can walk to the MK and at least avoid some of the lines and chaos to get there. We've also never stayed at the CR. Honestly, over the years it's never done anything for me other than looking cool with the monorail going through, but now that we have plans there I'm excited to get to know a new resort. I know the view and room will be nice, and my son loves the 4th floor with the monorail, arcade, and Chef Mickey's, so we had to try it and a busy time of year seemed to be a great time to give it a try. We debated between TPV non CL and standard view CL. The TPV was actually quite a bit cheaper (I should say less expensive, nothing about this trip will be cheap :scared1::scared1:), but I've gotten spoiled over the last few years and don't want to give up CL!! Plus, other than the fireworks from our balcony, the Bay lake View actually looks prettier to me. I think that the park and fireworks view might trump it, but at least it's not like it's either a TPV or garbage dump view or something like that! I did read that the odd numbered rooms on the Bay lake side have a bed that faces the WL. Is there any benefit to facing one direction over the other? I get it that the TPV side you can see the fireworks while sitting on the bed, but from the other side does it really make any difference? I'm not sure if I should make any requests, any thoughts? So far all I've gathered is Chef Mickey's can be loud, you can see Space Mt when you exit your room from the side toward the MK (which is the opposite side of CM, right?), and the whole even vs odd room thing.

Well, I just wanted to say Hi, share my excitement, and get some advice about room requests. I'll be following along, I finally read the entire CR thread and caught up here and on the Poly thread since I had let them go after our last trip to the WL Deluxe room in May.

This thread is amazing!! I got so much information after reading through it! We are going to get to go the world next year, end of April beginning of May. I know that is kind of far out. We are staying club level at the Grand Floridian. I am a DLand expert and have stayed club level on property there several times. But I know nothing about the world. We will only have 4 full days of park. It is for my husbands business. He has a convention in town. I am not sure how to even begin planning. This is so exciting! I hope we enjoy the Grand Floridian!

Ill trade ya! Send me a pm with any Dland recommendations and ask away about GF CL. I have stayed in both RPC and SL and going to SL in a few weeks!!

Me and my DH will be staying at the CR Atrium Club Magic Kingdom view Oct 24-31, I'm so excited, haven't been in 3 years. Before we check in there were spending 3 nights at Pop Century. Does anyone here know if Disney will transfer you between resorts with your luggage?

I hope you will report back on your CR CL stay. We've never stayed at the CR, but we thinking about trying CL next summer and I love reading about other people's experiences :).

We had a few days last week of heat index of around 110 :faint:. It's still hot this week, but nothing like it was last week!

We had at least 2 days like that last week. It was in the low 80s as early as 8:30-9 am, which was the coolest part of those days :sad2:.

It's never too early to plan :goodvibes. The GF is an amazing resort, you're going to love it!

In case you haven't seen it already, there is a GF FAQ (http://www.disboards.com/threads/2014-2015-grand-floridian-resort-villas-faq.3336950/) that is filled with a lot of great information about the GF. It is very informative about the rooms, recreation, pools, etc. :wizard:.

For those of you dealing with heat indexes over 100, please stay hydrated and take care of yourselves!

So happy to be looking at the CL thread again!!!

We stayed WL CL in 2012, YC CL in 2013, and BC CL in 2014. We stayed at the CR in April of this year and decided to go without CL and boy did we miss it!!! We didn't think we would!

That being said, next year we are doing a 4 night cruise (our first!) on the Dream. We are staying at AoA for 2 nights prior to the cruise and then planning on AKL CL for 2 nights after the cruise.

We are now a family of 5, but our little guy will only be 15 months old for next years trip so we will all fit into an AKL room...we want to do it before we "outgrow" the room.

Any recent reviews!?!?! We hope to book soon...hopefully once there's an announcement on next year's military discount.

It's been a few years for us at AKL CL, but we have stayed there several times and we really, really love it there. Enjoy it while you can all fit into the room. Honestly, the lounge is one of my favorites at WDW. Also, we did something similar, with WDW/DCL/WDW and it was fantastic. The cruise was nice and relaxing, and people looked so sad the morning it was over, but we were still in our happy place, on the way back to WDW. ;)

We go to both WDW and DL, so I can try to answer any questions you might have. Off the top of my head... you aren't really planning early for WDW (I know it's early for DL, but at WDW you can make dining plans 180 days in advance and people actually do that! Our DL trips have me finalizing dining a week out with no problems, but it's not like that at WDW). Also, it's huge and very spread out, so you need to figure on spending quite a bit of time getting from place to place, unlike DL. My advice is to get a good guide book (like unofficial guide) that helps you learn about the attractions and figure out which ones you really want to do (4 full days isn't enough to do everything, so you'll have to choose carefully). That will help you figure out how much time you want to spend at each park. Then you can plan your days and your dining. DTD is far from everything (unlike at DL) so on short trips we tend to skip it. Also, we tour a bit differently than WDW regulars, in that we spend less time at the MK since there is no Epcot or Animal Kingdom in California. Please feel free to message me with any questions you might have. Oh, and CL at the GF is wonderful (and the GF is wonderful in general), and April is great weather-wise. Hope this helps! :)

Haha! Yes! We knew if would be too hard to get off the ship and go right to the airport so 2 nights after at Disney it is! Gotta ease into the depression of leaving, LOL

Sounds like you've got some awesome trips planned!! :) For Poly CL GV I always request the 3rd floor. I find it quieter and I enjoy having a balcony. Atrium club at the CR is amazing!!!! One of the best WDW trips I had last year for sure. I don't even think you need to put in a request there unless you want to be closer to the lounge/elevators. But it's a short hallway anyway. All the rooms overlook the lake and pool area. So no dumpsters. :D

I can tell how excited you are! You're my kind of Disney fan! :thumbsup2

Welcome to the group! :welcome: We are all a little CL obsessed so you're in good company. ;) You'd be surprised how fast next April will come around. You'll be booking dining reservations by October. :goodvibes

I've never stayed at CR CL because I'm not in love with the pool area, but I have recently become a bit curious. Since we've recently started to stray from our favorite, I'd like to know where the Atrium CL rooms are located. I know you said they have a view of the pool area, but are there some on the same end as Chef Mickey's? I just remember waking up bright and early to the napkin spin song years ago (before we even knew CL existed) and I would not want to be near the restaurant if we ever decide to book a stay there.

We were down on the Chef Mickey's end and I never heard a peep. It's a really far distance up:

I am not sure if they will take the Hawaii GV first floor out of inventory. They fence is to the south of the path

I was told by the planning office that starting in mid-August ALL of the garden CL rooms in Hawaii will be taken out of inventory. I can hardly believe they are closing down all three floors. Anyone else heard anything?

Wow! :scared1:

Are you back home?!! I've been wondering about your trip (I think we had rooms fairly close at Poly -- I was 1503 and I think you might have been 2 rooms down in the corner?)
We were in 1501! We were the first room as you entered the hall.

Tell us all about your trip!!! :) :) :)

Hi! I keep wanting to come here to post a review and then I get overwhelmed with the thought of doing it! Two weeks to review is a lot! I'm going to attempt to do it with my focus on the CL/hotel portion more than the parks.

So we were at WDW for two weeks - June 30 - July 7th at Poly CL GV booked with a "magical" deal and July 7 - July 14th BC SV CL booked with Disney summer discount applied. We've been to the parks many times, so I'm going to mainly review just our hotel portions here - the parks were awesome - over two weeks we did everything we wanted to do, tried lots of new dining (The Boathouse, Garden Grill, various QS places, Liberty Tree before it closed)... we did the Family Magic Tour in MK (awesome!), BBB and Harmony Barbershop, tea at the GF and had lots of fun pixie dust bestowed on us (100th guest at The Plaza and got a free dessert from the Mayor, being picked to ride the carousel with the stepsisters and the stepmother and room upgrades) - feel free to ask me any questions about these things and I'll be happy to elaborate!

I'll start with our resort review for the Poly CL - We booked through a "Magical" deal for GV CL and checked it around 10am on our arrival day. We were not expecting any upgrades and were just hoping for a first floor room - we had come to terms with the possibility of East Pool construction and were just happy to be there! We had been up since 2am so my head was a little clouded when he gave us our room number. All the CM said was that our room was ready and it was nice and close to where we were - we have stayed Poly CL 2 other times and both times we were at the end of the building near the lounge so I was happy to hear that - but when we got up and walked out and saw that our room was to our LEFT (1501) I immediately realized that we had been upgraded to a LV room! I opened the door and we could see the castle, the beach, the bungalows, the water... I freaked out! I was screamed and dancing! I knew now that we would be able to see the 4th of July fireworks from our own patio and couldn't have been more excited! This location was perfect! The room was spacious and clean - we were thrilled! Over the course of the 7 nights, we did run into housekeeping issues as we seemed to be the last room for service during the day and the first room for turn-down service. There were many days that we were back from the pool around 3 or 4pm and our room hadn't been cleaned and then while we were in there they would come - for both services within a half hour! So there were a few days that we just requested towels when they came and that was it. Not a big deal but it seemed a bit odd. The lounge foods were all that others have reported except on July 4th - there were hot dogs, beans and other BBQ foods - we enjoyed it all very much! There was a roped off area on the beach for the fireworks viewing on the 4th but we just hung out on our patio. We loved the convenience factor of the lounge and the food choices were good. DH struggled with the all carb breakfasts but DD4 and I were fine with it. The lounge was extremely crowded on the 3rd and 4th but that was to be expected. We had no MB issues while at Poly - the gates at the pool sometimes worked and sometimes didn't - we did wear wristbands on the 4th only and that was the only day that we struggled to find a chair by the pool. All other days we were able to find a couple of chairs. My DD4 LOVED the splash area - this was our first time back since it had been added. DH and I enjoyed Trader Sam's while DD was at Lilo's Clubhouse - we ordered Ohana dinner for 1 on our last night to our room - it was a TON of food and I highly recommend it!

On July 7th we moved over BC - I'll have to continue this review later as DD4 is finally awake!
