It really is nice!! The discounted rate ended after last night, so I wonder how busy the lounge will be for apps tonight? I snagged a chef’s counter at Napa Rose at 6 so will only go in for wineWe loved that outdoor balcony off the lounge! Do they still have choc covered strawberries?
Hope to get back there someday! The entrance into the park was so convenient for breaks and lounge time midday!
We stayed CL there in December. That tortilla chip bar was out every single dayHoly cow, ya’ll. Having never stayed at RPC in the “before times”, I am stunned at the afternoon tea offerings at Grand Californian. CMs could not be more lovely. And the lounge is gorgeous, and so far, uncrowded. This was on my arrival, around 2:15 pm.
If you let the staff know about the gluten allergy, usually during the pre-arrival phone call, they will make sure to have something for you that you can eat. (You can also call yourself.) when you are in the lounge for appetizers, it usually takes a little extra time for them to prep/bring your plate. We've only stayed CL at GDT. The closer we get to our trip, I'm having doubts about CL. We took advantage of the breakfast offerings but only used the lounge once or twice for mid day & evening offerings at our previous stay. I also have a gluten allergy & I'm a little concerned about the offerings. I'm holding onto our reservation because with the discount I have, there are no other rooms at Poly. We would have to switch to BWI resort view, CR Main Tower water view, GF resort view. BWI also has a CL room open.
I'm also concerned about cutting into our park time as we enjoy sleeping in & staying out late. I've stayed at Poly & DH hasn't so I want him to get that experience but I'm wondering if the dining plan will work better & allow us more evening time in the parks. How do you all navigate your resort & park times with CL stays?
I've only stayed at WL, BWI, and AKL since the re-opening and they've been great.Has any resorts with club level gone down hill or did I just have a one off experience.
Thanks for the info! I had my heart set on Poly since DH hasn’t stayed there. I’ve gone down a bit of a rabbit hole and from what I’m seeing it looks like BWI appears to be better equipped for gluten allergies but this is based solely on what I have been able to find on YouTube. I’m sure Poly would cater to my needs as well it’s just a little more difficult with their offerings. If you let the staff know about the gluten allergy, usually during the pre-arrival phone call, they will make sure to have something for you that you can eat. IME, the CL's often ask you in advance which afternoons/evenings you plan to be there, but the staff are usually great about helping to provide allergen-free foods. In some cases, they will also give you the option of food off the line, like whole fruits.
To answer your question: we usually have breakfast in the CL, then either return for appetizers - OR- return for desserts. Yes, it does take time away from park touring and that's something we had to get used to doing. We don't always stay CL, and sometimes it feels a bit liberating to take a break from CL.
The parks are not open as late as they once were, so it is relatively easy to be back before 10pm most nights. Once in a while we make it to both appetizers and desserts, like on our AK days. We don't buy the DDP unless the free dining plan promo is the best offer for our dates. If not CL, most of the time we wing it. On a recent visit, we had a few groceries delivered for our breakfast.
I mix up my resorts vs staying at the same one over n over and can tell you it’s usually the afternoon for cleanings. If I really want my room done I call housekeeping the day before or the morning of and that works good.Has any resorts with club level gone down hill or did I just have a one off experience. I usually stay at grand floridian but tried the poly due to price savings. That might have been my first mistake.
1.I did early check in a few days ago. I get here and the concierge member was like you didn't fully check in that's why no room has been assigned but no worries. I told her i completed it and in my profile when I log in it says would you like to modify checkin. That was my 1st impression that they are imcomptent.
2. Had packages delivered to the hotel in advance. Concierge told me when I arrived I could call bell services to deliver to room. I called and they had no record of it and was told I needed to wait until I was in the system queue for it. Called an hour later still not in system. Went back to Concierge and they talked with someone so I was in the system.
2. Room service cleaning wasn't even done for my room until after late afternoon. Usually it's done in the morning and when I come back in the afternoon it's restocked. When I checked in the other day another guest was complaining about it too.
3. I told concierge I have a cake being delivered to the hotel at a certain time will I have any issues being delivered to my room. They assured me no, of course they didn't know where the cake was so they had to call. It was at bell services all along. I was annoyed cuz I called them and the cast member said they would call me back and never did. I told them I had a dining reservation so they tried to fix their mistake by giving me transportation via taxi. They failed to tell me it was mears and it didn't give me an eta. So I sat there passed my dining reservation time and family members were already there waiting on me to be seated. So I had to get a lyft ride. The cast member that called for my taxi was like what's wrong and didn't they tell u what was going on. I'm like she told me to have a seat and she will call me when the ride gets here. He told me she should have said more info.
This hotel let me down so badly that I don't want to stay here cuz no one knows what they are doing in terms of disney standards. I have a reservation booked for a future stay but most likely will cancel this hotel.
I used my cell phone device android phone to check in. I got an email saying check in was complete.I mix up my resorts vs staying at the same one over n over and can tell you it’s usually the afternoon for cleanings. I had a delivery at WL cl in April. My friends finally asked if I had gotten yet and they insisted nothing was delivered. The cm in the lounge called everywhere and they insisted nothing was delivered. I got a copy of the email receipt. She also asked what is it? Knowing my friends it’s either flowers or a gift basket/not a brown box. So she left and came back with my gift basket. How can you lose a large basket?
When I do online check in on my iPad it usually glitches. I will try on my phone and that seems to work better. It’s most likely Disney IT that messed up and not the cm. That have some really good ones there at poly. A few are originals.
That whole cake thing though , gosh I would be so frustrated . Sorry![]()

If you want to write feedback on hotel after staying what is the official email address to write to?
That’s just weird . I know I have issues on split stays but that just seems off. Disney IT is the worstI used my cell phone device android phone to check in. I got an email saying check in was complete.
I’m more of a park person myself so I’m going to have to learn to incorporate some resort time this trip. You’ll hear lots of opinions. For me, park trumps CL time. If I’m around the resort for any of the offerings, great, but we normally wouldn’t go out of our way to get back just because it’s an option. Maybe not the most cost effective approach, but who wants be beholden to the resort all the time? I like the parks and the many things to do just as much as I like the resorts.
We will usually do breakfast every day - that’s a big draw for us. But others, not so much. It’s a nice luxury when there.
My DS and I both have allergies, so just wanted to add that I’d recommend you still mention your gluten allergy when you check in the Poly lounge. Most of my calls/emails with Signature Services usually never reach the lounge. Hopefully you’ll receive your pre-arrival call a couple days before so you can speak to the staff directly in advance. Hope everything works out!I sent an email to Signature Services yesterday concerning my food allergy. I received a phone call this morning and the cast member has the same allergy so she was extremely helpful. She has reached out to the 2 managers of Poly CL with my specific questions. It just basically comes down to what substitutes are possible based on the cuisine itself. I’m crossing my fingers! And I’m so happy with the feedback I received just with the phone call.
I was very disappointed in our stay a couple of weeks ago. For the amount of money it cost, and many things went wrong.Has any resorts with club level gone down hill or did I just have a one off experience.
