Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Hi Rosa,

Glad they changed your room. We are checking out in the morning.

I wasn't a big fan of the clown pool either. It was surprisingly smaller than I thought - it looks so huge & sprawling on the WDW website pictures. We spent most of our time on the quiet pool by the community hall. Unfortunately today they were doing concrete work which was extremely loud - lots of drilling noises.

Rosa have an amazing trip.
- Marina :flower1:

That's exactly how we felt about the main pool as well...looked so much bigger in pics.

Hope you had a great trip...safe travels!!

Just received a construction letter as well, for December, was hoping it would have settled down by then.

We are going in November- since you received a letter for December, would that mean that we should expect ours soon?

Do the mini fridges in the BWV studios have a small freezer space like some mini fridges do?

They used to. But as DVC has replaced them and upgraded the villas, they have replaced them with undercounter refrigerators without a freezer section.

There seems to be no pattern to when people get their letters from the BWI GM. We check in on Saturday and received our letter last week. I don't think our check in is in the first wave of construction.

Is there a section of the resort that they typically assign people that are there for a convention? Researching for my trip! :)

Now I'm wondering whether I should put in a request for our DVC studio on rented points. I'm afraid that if I say anything, like "third floor", they'll say "Hey, we have construction on the third floor and here's a sucker who, asked for it, so let's put them in the worst possible room."

We are arriving in a less than two weeks and got our "construction" letter lat week....:headache: Not too concerned tho...have enjoyed stays at the BWI a few times in the past year and found construction to be generally unobtrusive....(there were some walls up...and a constructions vehicle close to the building on DVC side of the main pool area ..but nothing else really...no noise..or balcony visitors.......Sure hope that this coming stay will be pretty much the same...although some of the posts like pas and mommyrosa's are making me a bit nervous....

Still... very excited for our next BWI stay....almost in the single digits...:dance3:..... have some nice Epcot/BW are dining planned and FPP for FEA...which hopefully will be up and running...:confused3....lol....

Good luck with that FP........ We received our email that ours was cancelled within 15 minutes of when it started. Luckily we had decided to forego walking into EPCOT just to ride it (would have been really ticked if we arrived and found it closed, then had to walk back to BWI and drive home)

I'm excited, too. Only 3 more sleeps. I have a couple of FPP for FEA, so I'm hopeful it's working for at least one of those times. My DD thinks it's funny that I occasionally check my TouringPlans App all the way from Michigan just to see if FEA is operational.

Any way you slice it, a day at WDW is better than a day at work . . . to which I must return right now.

Booked a one bedroom Boardwalk villa today for Marathon weekend. My sister is doing her first 10k, so I wanted some celebrating space. She's had a rough time training, so it will really be an accomplishment when she completes it. Really hoping there are some discounts out before then, but going either way.

That sounds great and I hope a nice AP or FL Res. rate comes out for you.

Hi guys,

Wdwkook - oddly enough when I wend on MDE to cancel crystal palace (I was looking for the # to call and cancel, the cancel reservation link was still working even though it was hours away from the ressie, I guess it was a fluke)

Thanks for all the fun photos. Maybe CP is so in-demand they have no issue cancelling those ADRs up to the last minute?

We are wrapping up our stay and really loved the BWI. Our room is on the 2nd floor very near the lounge and I think it's the best location possible! Booked a bounce back free dining for Beach Club though because it was just a little less and we will try something new.
A lot of painting going on here but we have noticed little to no noise even at the pool.

Thank you for posting about you location and you won't be far away at BC:)

Hi all,

Just wanted to update. We did an 8:20 breakfast at Trattoria Al Fiorno. It was our least favorite breakfast so far, just didn't care for the taste of some items and how other things were prepared. Have a few pictures though;

I wasn't a fan of thier turkey sausage or the whole grain croissants.
My best friend enjoyed her oatmeal

So after that we decided to do rope drop at Epcot. My best friend and her husband went to go on Frozen Ever After. We went to see Joy & Sadness from inside out because I promised my daughter we would see them. (When we saw Baymax the other day, we saw how long the line was for them. Plus there is no fast pass. A cast member told us the lines are ok for right when the park oped till an hour since everyone's running right to Elsa or soarin. We only had a 15 minute wait to see them and let me tell you they were the best character interaction so far this trip.

Apparently their lines go to 90 minutes. I'm glad we did this brcause frozen ever after was down at rope drop, my friend never got to ride it.

After Epcot we went back to the pool. There was a giant cemet mixer by the trail by the big pool which was noisy, plus they were blocking paths again, very annoying.

Lunch was the boardwslk pizza to go, my kids really enjoyed it.

Tonight's dinner was be our guest. It was raining and they wouldn't let anyone stand inside. It's not fun to go into dinner when you are all wet. Can't Disney build a bleeping awning there? Ok rant over on to dinner pictures:

After dinner we did a few rides, magic kingdom was packed again tonight. It started raining again so we headed back to the hotel. Another night of Star Wars fireworks on my balcony. pixiedust:

Other notes:

Bus service is very regular. Buses do not stop at other resorts. I'm very happy with the bus service here.

The community hall with the kids games is lovely and the staff is great. My kids enjoy spending time here - all the games (arcade / air hockey/ pool / ping pong are free. They had Gnomeo & Juliet playing on the huge tv, very cute:lovestruc

Thanks for posting about your breakfast and dinner. Being wet, in AC, in shorts, during dinner is the worst. Looks like FEA is shut-down as much as TT:sad2:

Wow, Narcoossee's looks good. We've eaten there a number of times, and had some great meals and some so-so ones there. That looks like a great one. :). Any chance they're putting up a gate around the clown pool? I've heard no mention of one, but since they're doing so much work, I know that was a goal for all pools...

I saw @oceanmarina's photo and laughed because I have the exact same photo sitting on my desktop. I had been posting some photos to the GF thread a while back and this is from 8/15:

I have heard a rumor while I'm here (my sister is a DVC member and this is her home resort the rumor is that they will be changing the clown pool to a Mickey Mouse themed pool. Apparently the rooms that get complaints that are facing the clown pool that it's creepy - ps I agree. I've always been creeped out by clowns.

I know it's just a rumor, but if true, everyone can complain afterwards that the new pool lacks theming, just as they complain about the CR Mickey pool!

Hi all just wanted to update again. It's been a cooler, cloudy morning today

Wow the storm was so bad we just list signal on our TV! DH was watching the Olympics

Those summer storms can be really bad. Were they all mostly in the late afternoon? Thanks again for all your fun LIVE photos!

They are starting to put up Christmas lights on the castle.

Overall the hotel is just ok. It's really nice to be within walking distance to Epcot and Yeood Studios. But honestly Boardwalk will be a one time stay for us. With all the shortcuts Disney has been doing and still increasing the prices, this is going to be out last Disney trip for a while.

Will update again later.

I think those are the lights for MNSSHP? I can understand how you feel. Do you think you might start missing it once you're home for a while?

We enjoyed all your photos and LIVE update - thanks!!

So excited! Our waitlist for BWV-Boardwalk View Studio came through today! We will be there for Braves Spring Training and the Flower & Garden Show, March 6-11. Any suggestions on a room request? We've stayed BWV before, but that was standard view.

Congratulations on booking, @Denamac and welcome to the thread! I'm bumping your request question...

We checked into the BWI this morning and it has been a comedy of errors so far. Too many things went wrong but have to say management has been great so far.

Received a text our room was ready and when we checked out our room, we had a construction war zone view. Scaffolding everywhere including our balcony and the noise was so loud the room was shaking (literally). Now we wait for a new room. Still excited for our first stay here and hoping things turn around!!

Glad you were moved, but yeesh, they should not be putting guests near this work. They need to take all these rooms out of inventory. Guests shouldn't have to go back to the front desk to ask to be moved from a WZV (War Zone View). How is everything now?

We will be staying at BWI for the first time for a short trip in November. We have a water view room, and I sat that we could either be facing the pool, or possibly the boardwalk(per the Disney website explanation). Does anyone have any recommendations on requests? Although pool view would be nice, would prefer boardwalk if they indeed DO have boardwalk views in water view rooms.

The Disney booking website now classifies a BWV as facing the pool? At BWI, a pool view is a Standard View room. The only bookable water view rooms face Crescent Lake and are a BoardWalk View. At least this is how it always used to be classified.

Just recently booked BWV for 2/27 - 3/6 2017! It'll be our first stay here and we are very excited! Definitely subscribing to this thread! :thumbsup2:earsboy:

Welcome @Uncle Donald Wess! I'll log your dates:)

We are here now. Have 2 studios-5056 and 5058. View is of the main pool and has the most perfect view of the DHS fireworks. Construction has not bothered us at all.

Glad you're having a great vacation, @gardengirl628.

Bumping your question, @KimAB...

That is a tough call since you don't know exactly what that area will be like when you check-in. Maybe "away from construction," "high floor?"

Thank you! Maybe that is definitely what we will be facing then.

Enjoy your trips @BlueSkies and @Sandi !!:flower1: Won't be long now.

Dh and I are actually headed down this Sunday for 3 nights but are staying at Sports to save money since we just spent a boat load on our July trip last month.:-) This will be primarily to check out neighborhoods in central Florida. Since dh retired this year we are seriously thinking about moving down there next year. Fingers crossed.... Only doing Disney Springs and maybe BW one night after we drop the rental off at the Dolphin.
