Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Hi @WDWKOOK ! I just booked additional nights at BWV for March 7-12 since our dream of AKL CL fell thru. I'm going to waitlist it, but I'm still happy with staying at BWV. Here's a question though, when I stayed at BLT we were on the ground floor & really liked the convenience of not having to wait for the elevators. I've read other PPs saying that staying on the 1st floor, you still need to take the elevator to get anywhere. does that mean 2nd floor/lobby level is the "ground floor"? We've never checked out the BWV on previous trips, so sorry for the rookie questions. if it helps, I've booked standard view 1 bdrm on my DVC points. another PP suggested higher floor to lessen exposure to "luggage cart" noise. yikes, is that a point of concern?

I have stayed on the ground floor a couple times. If you are standing with your back to the clown pool facing the passageway that goes by the arcade you will see doors to the left and right that access the split ground floor hallway. I have stayed on both sides of the split. The only reason to use the elevator is to access the lobby. You can access all park transportation without using the elevator (for buses, just walk down the ground floor hall starting by the fitness center until you reach the exit door across the street from the bus stop). Although the ground floor was very convenient, I prefer higher floors for the view. I didn't notice any more noise on the ground floor than anywhere else. One of my rooms faced the quiet pool and the other the clown pool.

Hi all,

Just wanted to update. We did an 8:20 breakfast at Trattoria Al Fiorno. It was our least favorite breakfast so far, just didn't care for the taste of some items and how other things were prepared. Have a few pictures though;
image.jpg image.jpg
I wasn't a fan of thier turkey sausage or the whole grain croissants.
My best friend enjoyed her oatmeal image.jpg

So after that we decided to do rope drop at Epcot. My best friend and her husband went to go on Frozen Ever After. We went to see Joy & Sadness from inside out because I promised my daughter we would see them. (When we saw Baymax the other day, we saw how long the line was for them. Plus there is no fast pass. A cast member told us the lines are ok for right when the park oped till an hour since everyone's running right to Elsa or soarin. We only had a 15 minute wait to see them and let me tell you they were the best character interaction so far this trip.
image.jpg

Apparently their lines go to 90 minutes. I'm glad we did this brcause frozen ever after was down at rope drop, my friend never got to ride it.

After Epcot we went back to the pool. There was a giant cemet mixer by the trail by the big pool which was noisy, plus they were blocking paths again, very annoying.

Lunch was the boardwslk pizza to go, my kids really enjoyed it.
image.jpg

Tonight's dinner was be our guest. It was raining and they wouldn't let anyone stand inside. It's not fun to go into dinner when you are all wet. Can't Disney build a bleeping awning there? Ok rant over on to dinner pictures:
image.jpg
image.jpg image.jpg

After dinner we did a few rides, magic kingdom was packed again tonight. It started raining again so we headed back to the hotel. Another night of Star Wars fireworks on my balcony. pixiedust:

Other notes:

Bus service is very regular. Buses do not stop at other resorts. I'm very happy with the bus service here.

The community hall with the kids games is lovely and the staff is great. My kids enjoy spending time here - all the games (arcade / air hockey/ pool / ping pong are free. They had Gnomeo & Juliet playing on the huge tv, very cute:lovestrucimage.jpg

Question about the BWI studio villas... I'm looking at the floorplan and photos that people have posted... How big is the nook with the kitchenette/sink/bathroom door? Is it big enough for my husband and I to hang out in while the kids sleep? They are little (5 and 3) and we usually stay at places with extra bedrooms so we can hang out while they sleep but can't afford a 1BR at BWI. Thinking of January so the balcony isn't really an option.. how feasible is it that we can hang out in that area while the kids sleep?

I suppose you could pull a couple of chairs into that space--it's large enough, but the ambiance would not be ideal. Still, I've taken refuge in smaller spaces with my husband when our kids were little. There is actually a little entryway at the door where the luggage rack sits and is all connected to the aforementioned spaces. I'm sure you could make do because where there is a will, there is a way. :) Here is a view through the room that sort of shows that small entryway.

And a couple that show (sort of) the space at the kitchenette and vanity. It is probably a space as wide as the countertop and maybe 7 feet to the vanity. The area at the entryway is an additional 5-6 feet across without the luggage rack in place. If youtake the two chairs shown above, it would be workable.

Even in January, never discount the ability to use the balcony or patio. You never know, it may be nice enough with a coat and pants.

Thanks for the live reports and pictures! We check in to the BW villas in mid October for the Food &Wine Festival. We haven't stayed there since 2014, so looking forward to hearing about everyone's trips :flower1:

One thing you want to remember is that there is the BWInn and the BWVillas. You are staying in the BWVillas, not the BWI (that's on the other side of the resort building) and there are no villas on the BWI side. When you drive up to the resort, the villas are on the left and inn is on the right (but both use the same check in desk). I bet in January it won't be so bad that you can't sit out there while you try to get the kids to sleep. It could be 50-70 degrees or maybe as low as upper 40's if it is really cold.

Maybe you could buy the kids some little sleep masks to wear while they are sleeping. ;)

We hung out at the pool till it was time for our family photo shoot at beach Ckub with the photographer Randy Chapman (heard about him through here) What a great guy and anazing photographer. He was so good with getting my kids to take pictures - and my kids hate taking pictures, my DD was pissy because we left the pool to take pictures but Randy got her smiling! I loved his creative poses and angels. He showed me some on his camera and I was really impressed. I wanted to get pictures for my Christmas card and from what I can see I will have a lot to choose from. The cd gets mailed to me in 2 weeks. I would use him again in a heartbeat - plus he was a far better deal than the Disney photography package. Thanks MomyRosa for recommending him!!

This is a great idea! Can you please PM me with some contact information? We are thinking of doing a family photo shoot in November when we celebrate at Disney, Thank you!

Hi guys,

Wdwkook - oddly enough when I wend on MDE to cancel crystal palace (I was looking for the # to call and cancel, the cancel reservation link was still working even though it was hours away from the ressie, I guess it was a fluke)

Loved it - it was our second best meal so far! Cinderkelly I would book it as it is a harder ADR to get. My DD 8 and DS11 loved it, the food was fantastic and we all loved watching the tanks.

So yesterday we decided to do a close breakfast at Cape May - just a short 10 minute walk to the beach club.

Decided to skip magic kingdom - the price if overdoing it on your first full day of the trip. Classic mistake I always make.

Wow, Narcoossee's looks good. We've eaten there a number of times, and had some great meals and some so-so ones there. That looks like a great one. :). Any chance they're putting up a gate around the clown pool? I've heard no mention of one, but since they're doing so much work, I know that was a goal for all pools...

Thanks for all of your updates!
One question, are people staying in the villas with a cash reservation allowed to use the Community Hall? Do they check your MBs?
Hope you enjoy the rest of your visit!

Sure, you can use the Community Hall.

Hi, I've been searching around to find the map that lists the BWV rooms/views and which ones make up the 2BR lockoffs. I had the link stored as a favorite and it must have been deleted.

Going through the pages on the thread, and tried a search but so far no luck. Anyone have the link?

Thank you!

Every two bedroom villa at BWV is a lockoff. There are no dedicated two bedroom villas there. They are all over the place, but I don't think many have the Village Green view. I think all of those are dedicated studios.

Thank you! I recall seeing a map that showed which studio and 1BR made up the 2BR, for example 1123 and 1125 standard view. We were there last time and while a bit remote, was a beautiful view of the pond (across from tennis courts).

I should be able to figure it out on TP site.

Here is his website. I can't recommend him enough!! I'll have the cd so I'll be able to upload his images to tiny prints or shutterfly for my holiday card.

I have heard a rumor while I'm here (my sister is a DVC member and this is her home resort the rumor is that they will be changing the clown pool to a Mickey Mouse themed pool. Apparently the rooms that get complaints that are facing the clown pool that it's creepy - ps I agree. I've always been creeped out by clowns.

Thanks for all of your updates!

He we are staying as a cash ressie (we are not DVC members) yep anyone staying here can walk right into the community hall, no magic bands are checked.

Hi all just wanted to update again. It's been a cooler, cloudy morning today image.jpg

image.jpg

We took the boat to Hollywood studios. - it's so wierd not seeing the scorcer hat.

We did Hollywood and vine for breakfast image.jpg

And toy story mania afterimage.jpg

We were going to go to the pool after Hollywood studios but the kids wanted to play in the room (they had gotten some toys)
Glad we didn't - big lightning rainstorm just started now!

I picked up some snacks from boardwalk bakery.
image.jpg
image.jpg
I got the focaccia bread lunch. It was like a doughy siscilian slice of pizza
image.jpg
Fruit tart for dessert was excellent!

image.jpg

My daughter likes the soft Mickey pretzels. We get then for a snack point.

Oh almost forgot - saw this tough dude walking around
image.jpg

He wouldn't stop for pictures.

Wow the storm was so bad we just list signal on our TV! DH was watching the Olympics

Hi forgot to update yesterday. We had Cinderella's castle for dinner. Magic Kingdom was crazy packed. I noticed a big crane. image.jpg

They are starting to put up Christmas lights on the castle.

Dinner was the worst Cinderella's castle experience. (Staff and character interactions were great) but the new menu was awful. We hated the platter (instead if getting to choose an appetizer)image.jpg

Sorry my kids are not going to eat raw salmon.
They don't even give you hot bread anymore - how cheap!!
I asked the waitress and she said they don't offer bread and butter anymore pre-meal.
I got the pork dish image.jpg

My kids enjoyed thier kids meal.
image.jpg

After that a few rides and back to the hotel. And Star Wars fireworks on my balcony again of course!
image.jpg

Hotel comments:
Seem to be less work going on yesterday which is good. I didn't see all the paths blocked off as the first few days of our stay.

I notice thre is a walking path. These guys FLY down the paths at a dangerous speed:image.jpg

One of them had to stop short as I was crossing the roadway. Dangerous situation considering there are little ones walking around. I told one of the managers but he didn't seem too concerned. I would just advise anyone traveling here to be wary of this as these vehicles go down many paths that pedestrians use.

The housekeeping staff are amazing. As my
Request our room is made up early they are so sweet and friendly and our room is always cleaned beautifully. I leave $10 a day in a mouse keeping envelope I made (with different characters every day) we've gotten a few cute towel animals
image.jpg

Oh almost forgot to post my tomorrow land speedway picture on a summer night
image.jpg

Tommorrow is our last night. We fly home to NY on Tuesday.

Overall the hotel is just ok. It's really nice to be within walking distance to Epcot and Yeood Studios. But honestly Boardwalk will be a one time stay for us. With all the shortcuts Disney has been doing and still increasing the prices, this is going to be out last Disney trip for a while.

Will update again later.
