Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Any listing of which rooms are handicapped? Also do odd or even numbered rooms face the Luna pool in the first wing that juts out close to boardwalk?

When we were there recently, we had room 5292. It was classified as a "Florida Special" which had hand rails in the tub and toilet area and was extra big with PLENTY of room to park a scooter or wheelchair. It has a normal vanity area and tub.

I am now listening to the DisUnplugged Podcast August 2nd episode and Pete is raving about the customer service is at the BWI concierge. BWI is not my first choice. But now I am looking forward to stay at BWI.

So excited to be checking in to the BWI tomorrow morning!!! I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight.... I'll be sure to keep you all updated on construction and general first impressions! :)

Have a great time at BWI and cann't wait to hear from your report.

Wondering if anyone can advise me: We will be trying out BWI in early December. We've done GF, CR, and BC and learned that we LOVE the EPCOT resorts. This trip is a 5 day trip especially for my parents, who have not been to Disney since 1982. They are in their 70s and not great shape, so I'd love for things to be "just so" for them. I know they'll love the Boardwalk area. But I have big concerns about all the construction, and I can't seem to gather if it's only going to increase or get better by Dec. My dad has some chemical sensitivities and heart issues and I really want their only visit to not be clouded or complicated by painting and noise and construction. Additionally, my kids are psyched to swim in the pool, if the weather is ok (usually has been--at least for my brave New England kids-- that week). Should I call my TA (who deals exclusively with Disney vacations) and ask about switching to another resort? We've been very excited to give BWI a try, and I don't even know if there's any availability elsewhere, but if anyone here can advise if construction will escalate on the Inn side or taper off, I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance!

I'm here now in the villas in a pool view room and havn't even seen or heard any construction yet.

That sounds great and I hope a nice AP or FL Res. rate comes out for you.

Thanks for all the fun photos. Maybe CP is so in-demand they have no issue cancelling those ADRs up to the last minute?

Thank you for posting about you location and you won't be far away at BC:)

Thanks for posting about your breakfast and dinner. Being wet, in AC, in shorts, during dinner is the worst. Looks like FEA is shut-down as much as TT:sad2:

I saw @oceanmarina's photo and laughed because I have the exact same photo sitting on my desktop. I had been posting some photos to the GF thread a while back and this is from 8/15:

I know it's just a rumor, but if true, everyone can complain afterwards that the new pool lacks theming, just as they complain about the CR Mickey pool!

Those summer storms can be really bad. Were they all mostly in the late afternoon? Thanks again for all your fun LIVE photos!

I think those are the lights for MNSSHP? I can understand how you feel. Do you think you might start missing it once you're home for a while?

We enjoyed all your photos and LIVE update - thanks!!

Congratulations on booking, @Denamac and welcome to the thread! I'm bumping your request question...

Glad you were moved, but yeesh, they should not be putting guests near this work. They need to take all these rooms out of inventory. Guests shouldn't have to go back to the front desk to ask to be moved from a WZV (War Zone View). How is everything now?

The Disney booking website now classifies a BWV as facing the pool? At BWI, a pool view is a Standard View room. The only bookable water view rooms face Crescent Lake and are a BoardWalk View. At least this is how it always used to be classified.

Welcome @Uncle Donald Wess! I'll log your dates:)

Glad you're having a great vacation, @gardengirl628.

Bumping your question, @KimAB...

That is a tough call since you don't know exactly what that area will be like when you check-in. Maybe "away from construction," "high floor?"
I'm a bit behind, but is it bad that now I want lobster? :) I remember that corn thing was really yummy.

I see lots of posts about construction at BWI. I thought the construction was supposed to be completed this month at BWI and begin at BWV. Is that correct?

OK, I need some help. ( FYI, I am posting this on Y/BC thread as well)
So, usually I book a RO as soon as I can. After staying in a 2BR villa on our last trip, I knew that I wanted to do that again. I also know how difficult it will be to book that during F&W. So I am getting anxious that we may end up shut out of anything in the Epcot area, so I am thinking I should book 2 standard rooms now at either BC, YC, or BWI.
My question is, is there a significant difference in the standard rooms at each of these locations in terms of size, views, or anything else besides the pools? Also, why is the WV so much more expensive at the BW? ( approx rack rates for my dates, without tax, weekday/wknd: Y&BC SV: 422/490, GV/WV: 429/495, LV/PV: 509/561
BWI: S: 423/467, WV: 544/600
Any input on this choice is much appreciated! After hanging out here for a while, I know most of the differences, but I was puzzled by the difference in the cost of the WV. I have also been paying more attention to the info on the villas, so I need to get more info on the rooms.
Thanks!!

Walked around the resort more today. I'm overlooking the main pool in villas no construction heard or saw. However, when I walked over to the quiet pool on villas side lots of noise from construction there they seem to be doing substantial digging near the pool (which is still open). That's all to report so far...

So if you are coming soon request to not overlook the quiet pool.

Does anyone know if all standard room at BWI have a sofa bed plus two queen beds?? Or are rooms with sofa bed very limited at BWI?

Yes they were doing concrete work at the community hall quiet pool on the last day of our stay. Totally ruined our relaxation with the loud, ongoing drilling. Dd is afraid of clowns so we couldn't go to the main pool. image.jpg

I spoke to a team leader there who was such a sweetheart. I basically said the construction really impacted our stay to the point where I would never stay there again. She was completely sympathetic. I wholeheartedly agree that the management there is truly wonderful.

I believe they are supposed to be done by September. If you go back a few pages on this thread I posted the construction notification email I got with the 800# to contact with any questions. I would call, ask to speak to a manger and try to find out what the end date is for the work. The only problem is you don't always get accurate information - when I calked I was told they were only doing exterior painting - however it was a lot of different work that we encountered during our stay (loud and more widespread than we anticipated) - and no painting at all, just a lot of cement work. I think that's the biggest frustration for me - getting inaccurate info. From Disney.

Quote honestly - the most reliable and accurate information I have gotten is from disboards and this thread

I wonder if the BW renovations have been pushed out until Oct. I noticed YC was supposed to start reno's in Aug/Sept, but is now starting in Oct.

Are the current BW renovations just in the villas, or the BWI?

The work was spead out when I was there. There was a lot of exterior painting the week before I got there. When I was there there was a lot of cement work on both sides. Inn and villa. They were doing renovations on the 1 st floor of the villas , a bunch of rooms were shut off. As we walked by the room we heard power saws. But in general I saw a lot of construction guys around. We didn't stay in the inn, so I can't speak to work going on there.
