Disney's Art of Animation Resort (Part II)

I have read some of the posts but I am still wondering
which is closest to the buses Nemo or Cars

Looking at the map it appears Nemo is but i noticed here people say Cars??

But if you are going with tons of kids two of them under would you say its better to be closer to the big blue pool (b/c of zero gravity

Also we are traveling with my sister and her family we both have suites. Is there a way to check in and request our rooms been close? (like in the same building) We dont care if they are next to each other but would really love at least same bldg and floor

and thats my next question.. we are currently booked in nemo which bldg is best for nemo??

We are just back from 5 nights aoa fn suite - with DH dd almost 5 and dd 8 months - nemo definitely closer than cars (so is lion king)

We stayed in crush building 5 and it was great - regarding close rooms just call now and ask and when you get there ask again - maybe check in together?

Have so much fun!!!

Hi all!

Well we are just back from aoa fn - travelled with myself, DH, dd 8 months and dd almost 5 - unfortunately only there for 4 full days (5 nights) so not much time at the resort as we are first timers for Disney

I feel like I have so much to say - the suites were way more spacious than I expected. And DH said the theming was not as bad as he thought it would be in the rooms. we stayed in crush building (#5) fourth floor wih view of yhe pool at it was great. We never had breakfast at land of flavours - did character breakfast 3 mornings and the other 2 ate in the room (oatmeal and cereal)

Some tips I can think of now:
- if eating land of flavours pasta, order this and have the rest of your group only get their food once yours is being made or eveyhing else will be cold (they really try to offer variety but don't have the how to do it efficiently part down pat quite yet)
- if you are headed to parks after eating at land of flavours don't bring your mug as u will have to take it to the park (we saw many people carrying them around and apparently u can't get them filled in the parks) so leave them in your room and just ask for a take out cup to use there (yes I know not good for environment)
- always factor in a possible 20 minute wait time for a bus (and if it is less be pleasantly surprised!!!!)
- don't forget to bring your towels down to the pool
-learn to use fast pass
- don't feel u need to maximize your dining plan it will make u crazy - I felt bad not going to get drinks at night but we were wiped. Maybe we used our 3 mugs 10 times collectively!
- if u can bring your own pump handsoap to use instead of the bars
- bring some clothesline to help keep curtains closed (and they are also great to keep blankets covering the stroller from falling off!!!)
- take a picture of your room before your luggage gets there!
- if you cAll for luggage porter and they are even 5 min late call them (I patiently waited for them until 740 - scheduled to come for 730- and by then they didn't end up coming until 750 (ended up being rushed at chef mickeys due to that lost 20 min)

Ok ask me anything and I will do my best! You can pm me too

I would definitely go back

I would call ahead and ask for the cast member to link your reservations and request adjoining or ode rooms. They can add this to your reservation ahead of time for you.

Also, for the mugs, we carried ours to the parks daily. We would fill them on our way to the buses and on our way back. We had a stroller so we didn't have to carry them. However I saw someone with a big carribeaner clip with four mugs on it attached to a hook on their backpack and thought that was a fabulous idea! We will be using it in the future! Also we would transfer our soda into our cups since it stayed colder.

Here is my video tour I have made of the Landscape of Flavors food court: http://youtu.be/qJ-3LVHFqcI

The food there was great! I loved the Surf and Surf burger.

Here are my other AOA videos that have gotten buried in the thread

Animation Hall lobby tour: http://youtu.be/T7zTLlxVdV4

Cars wing and pool tour: http://youtu.be/bEHo_97ABwc

Tour of the Big Blue Pool: http://youtu.be/Sov9jQCmZoA

Little Mermaid room tour: http://youtu.be/H1Gnima3Abg

Hope you enjoy the videos! I hope they are helpful too!

I would think Finding Nemo buildings would be the closest out of the two. Building 5 Nemo would be closer to the bus stop if you didn't want to cut through a building. Building 4 is just as close cutting through Animation Hall. Building 1 Cars would probably be the closest to the bus stops if you cut in front of Animation Hall, but the same goes for Building 3 Cars as well.

Lion King wasn't mentioned, but that was where we stayed in the fall. We chose Lion King because we knew if the kids we went with (ages 3, 3 and 2) saw the pool we would have fits trying to get to the parks. We stayed in Building 10 Lion King, in the wing closest to the parking lot. I don't think you can get any closer than that, because we just followed the parking lot sidewalk right to the busses.

Make sure your reservations are cross referenced and the CM's will be sure to try to get you near each other in the building. I might also suggest to request ground floor. There are elevators, but I was thankful for this. It would have been tough managing a double stroller, a single stroller and 3 adults up and down the elevator as much as we used the resort. That would have been a pain.

We are celebrating our daughter's 2nd birthday during our trip next month. I was hoping to have a special cake delivered to AoA on her birthday. I know there's a cake thread on Disboards but I just wondered if anyone had any experience doing this? I can't seem to reach anybody on the numbers listed on the cake thread.

I also know I can order a small cake from AoA but I'm looking for something a little more "wow" :goodvibes

Check out Carrie's blog Disney Travel Babble - it's based more on weddings, but it has current info on cakes.

Any suggestions for room requests in a Lion King suite? Is it hard to catch an elevator and should we ask for ground floor? Is there much to see in a lake view?

I notice the LK suites are not as popular. Is this just because they do not have a pool? I am wondering if we should shift to FN. I chose LM because my girls favor the movie. They seemed to have everything available when I booked.

The Little Mermaid rooms are awesome! Here is a video of my room I took a few weeks ago: http://youtu.be/H1Gnima3Abg

Mike those videos are amazing! Makes me wish my trip was here already!

Thanks! I'm glad they make you feel that way. Making them helps fill that Disney void until I can go back. Lol

Great videos, Mike. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I love sharing them :)

Can you take the food to your room to eat??
I thought I seen somewhere that you could & the maid would pick up the tray & silver ware the next day.

Mike, I enjoyed the videos, that pasta look really, really good, it made me hungry. Did I see on one of the menus SHRIMP WITH SHELL?
We love shrimp & can not wait to try the surf & surf burger.

We are staying at AOA June 2-7 in a Cars Suite. I requested Building 1. Is this a good choice or is there a better one?

Are they using the Magic Bands for AOA guests yet? We go in two weeks, I am just curious.
