I dont know if u have TN or PN allergies but the Babycakes people ( I spoke with the owner up here in NY ) said they cant promise no tree nuts or peanuts cross contaminaton because of their suppliers , even though they dont use nuts personally. They looked so good.
We dont mind waiting for stuff. I know that with needing to see the book and have the manager come out it is a bt longer. The thing that changed that makes me nervous is most quick service places dont offer to have the manager make the food anymore. Columbia Harbor does have nuts in the salad but last time we got this manager that said that they are made by certain people that only do salads and basically said it wasnt needed to do anything up special. While the Pizza Planet manager was more than helpful and did with no issues.
All in all Disney still takes the lead with the allergies but I do wish Brenda was back in charge. It used to be so much better. It made me happy to hear that they had good chefs headed over though. Thank you for all your advice and info .![]()
We have only minor PN issues and our TN issues are only a couple specific TNs. I read the Babycakes disclaimer and frankly the way I read it was that they "get" allergy and cross contamination issues. They throw away the first I think around 30lb of flour that go across any shared lines and that's after a heavy duty cleaning. Also, because some idiot declared coconut a tree nut and they use coconut heavily they have to declare that they use tree nuts. I see BC as being a lot safer than a lot of other companies out there because of the way their detail their allergy statement. Obviously each person needs to determine their own comfort level and follow their own risk levels. I'm just sharing my own stance for my family.
At resorts you shouldn't be looking through a book. You should be dealing with a chef. In parks, yes you'll be given the book. Policy has NOT changed on managers taking care of allergy needs though. I have heard scary things about one manager at CHH and feel grateful that I don't think we've encountered him. I think he's who you encountered.
I absolutely agree about Disney being a leader in allergy needs. Unfortunately, the departure of Brenda did seem to be the beginning of the decline is service but it seems as though the past 6 months have seen a significantly greater decrease in service and support from the Special Diets department. Before that, we could get close to the same help we got from Brenda but now it's horrific. I was literally fighting tears a few months ago trying to get "help" from them. Our trip still went well despite them as the majority of managers and chefs at WDW itself are wonderful.
