It was super dated! Maybe that was for nostalgia or people who have never been to Hawaii. The partners involved in development have been invested in Hawaii for decades so there's that. Looks like it will offer over double the jobs for operations. I don't think it will block views but it will be pricy. At first I second guessed, why another luau in the same area, but I realize now that people who come back to the area repeatedly will want to try new things. It beats having yet another hotel crammed in that space I guess.

eta: I don't know one of the partners: blacksand capital...might dig a bit there. Ok I AI their background/projects, they are actually connected with one of the other partners I do know. They revitalized and highlighted an unsung gem of a hotel in Waikiki recently so I predict this luau will be good or at the very least heavily 'influencer-ed'.

I have a love hate with Atlantis. The love is a completely selfish take on it and I can see why locals especially wouldn’t love Atlantis coming.

I don’t like that it will make the island garden view less desirable. It will bring more crowds.

I love that they presumably will have day passes and will open up many more things to do while at Aulani and will be nice as my son gets older.

Interesting that you mention this right now. We will be visiting Aulani shortly for a ~2 week stay and are currently planning what to do while there. This will be our 7th (or more, I've lost track) to the resort. Consulting with the friends we are traveling with we decided that we are going to skip doing a luau this time around.

It's a bit like Pearl Harbor - a must do the first time you visit. After that It's interesting but not something to repeat all the time.

Thanks for posting! I went a few hours before closing. Mainly oversized or undersized. Lots of special occasion (Halloween, Christmas, Pride, Swim and 2024/2025 new year) gear. I found a cute medium Stitch Christmas hoodie but decided not to do it. They said no pictures, all sales final. I got a Duffy Santa Hat (for my kid but it fits me just sayin) and an Aulani logo Tommy Bahamas (TB) tank top (still selling in the fancy gift store for full price) and TB shorts. I had a leftover gift card so my royal total was $4 on a credit card.

Ohh Im glad someone was able to take advantage. You are stronger than I, I would've boughten the Stitch chromes hoodie. The hat is adorable!

The top of the hat has a star if you didnt click it. It has an embedded flower pattern and it says aulani on the back. $8.75 I guess i should have got more...restraint was with me ...this time!!
