Disneyholic - If you've talked w/ Andrea via email then you don't need the packet. I've stayed CL there once and am planning 2 more trips with them via email... I have never received "The Packet"; don't worry about it...

Thanks for reassuring me. I am so excited about this trip and a bit nervous too. It will just be DH & me & our first time doing Concierge. DS 17 (almost 18) will be staying home this trip because of school and hockey. His big sister(31) will be here to make sure everything is OK here, but she works night shift. The boy next door (almost 17) is a trusted friend who stayed with him overnight when we went to London for a few days in August, but this time we will be gone almost a week and a half. My daughter went off to college at the same age and I was a mess then too. :worried:

I think I need some pixie dust. Anyone out there have some to spare.

Haven't posted in awhile because life is going 150MPH right now but just had to pop in and say enjoy AKL Concierge! It was wonderful in November. That was our 2nd time there and they remembered DD's birthday from last year, sent a huge cake and streamers. There was a welcome gift - candle- when we arrived and they sent us a Christmas card too. They are really THE BEST!

...can't wait for AKL concierge!!! Woohoo!! :cool1:

[Edit: Wow, check out my total post amt!]

We love the AKL and have never even considered the CL. We didn't think it would be worth the money. But to hear all of you talk about it, I may have to reconsider. We love the AKL because we think it is relaxing and that is why we go on vacation, and if the CL is going to make it more relaxing then there might be something to that. But then it all comes back around to money, how do I convince my DW that my relaxation is worth it????

Anyone going end Jan to beginning Feb and could give me an idea of prices? What about doing Concierge for part of the stay??

Ok folks go easy on me  this is my first proper post :earboy2:

Concierge level at AKL do they have beers in the lounge?

What are best rooms ?

And as we're using DVC points will the concierge contact us directly before our stay?

Thanks pirate:

The price for AKL with an AP went up over $100 a night inc tax for 2005. We paid $277 a night inc tax for AKL Concierge during the winter value seasons of 2003 and 2004. I was quoted a rate of $385 a night inc tax for this upcoming winter value season. Jan 22nd through the 28th. We decided to go with a reg. savanna view room with an AP rate of $168 a night inc tax.

Even though we do love the AKL Concierge we did not feel that the additional services were worth an extra $220 a night.

Wow, $220 more a night than Savanah view? I love to be taken care of, but I think in this case my frugal side will win out. I can think of so many other ways to spend that money, or make my trip twice as long.

...concierge for one night with a price difference of almost $300 (my DH doesn't know ANYTHING about it! ), but it was the only way we could book the Sunrise Safari.....hope it worth it!

Hi HenryMorgan, and welcome to the Dis. There is a great deal of information here as well as some very friendly people who are happy to share and help.

AKL concierge is FANTASTIC. You will love staying there. I can only answer two of your questions.

Yes, they do have beer available. All you have to do is ask the host for a beer and they will be happy to get you one. It is served after 11:00 AM until closing.

As far as your room question. There are many opinions on that here on the Dis. My DH and myself stayed at AKL for 6 nights this past October we were on the Arusha Savanaha, Kudu Trail and we loved it. I would suggest you make sure you ask for a Savannah view room. If you go to Allearsnet and pull up AKL information they have a map of the resort. That may help you decide where you want to stay. We prefer the 5th floor as there is a better view. The 6th floor which is the concierge floor and where the lounge is has rooms with an overhang from the balconey which can block your view. Since my DH is 6'4" I felt we would be better on the 5th floor. It was a pretty walk from our room over the rope bridge to get to concierge.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation. When are you going? We are returning to WDW in May to stay at the Poly. I keep thinking - should we stay at AKL. But we are staying AKL concierge in November.

Anyone out there that can answer HenryMorgan's question about concierge contacting them when they are using DVC points?

IMHO I would call concierge myself just to be on the safe side. All the Pre-planning hosts are so nice and helpful I believe you can optain anything you wanted with a phone call.

Have a Wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

Angel

Welcome, Besides the 6th floor, rooms that are "usually" assigned as concierge are the 40 5th floor rooms that face Arusha Savannah. 20 on the Kudu Trail and 20 on the zebra trail both being the rooms closest to the lobby. This can change depending upon capacity, etc.
We've stayed on both trails facing arusha savannah and had great views.

I would hope that they contact you prior to your stay but if you're getting close (90 days for priority seating etc) I would contact them.
Hope this helps!
