Can someone explain to me what makes concierge so special? I'm serious...I just don't understand. What special perks do you get to justify all the extra money?

I'd love to know the answer to this question also! I must be missing something because I just can't justify the extra money. I don't think I'm aware of what it's all about though, so please someone...explain in more detail all the perks! TIA:D

....I wouldn't even DREAM of booking concierge, but, since this is a special vaca of sorts [ya have to read my previous posts!] we will be staying at AKL, and I am surprising my DFam with the Sunrise Safari. The only way I can do this is by booking concierge... (Oh no, #1hockeymom, will it happen?? Will I, too, turn into a 'Lizard Lounge' fanatic??!?!?!?! )

Kimmar>> You will... you know you will! You tried to hold off like I did but the pull was just too strong! I can't wait to hear about your experiences when you get back! I know you're going to be another lounge lizard! *I'll save you a seat!*

To everyone else who asked about what is so great about concierge. It is hard to explain, but basically it is knowing that you don't have ot be in control anymore, someone else will do the worrying and scheduling for you. You can change at any time and they'll find a way to make it happen. You have snacks/drinks available at all times. Sure you could go to the food court, but why when there is a lovely lounge to read a magazine in, share with other like minded Disney fanatics, or just day dream! It is going from always being the one to hold the pieces together, to being the one pampered! The concierge thread will explain this better than I can, but that is some of it. In the case of AKL, it is also being able to reserve the sunset and/or sunrise safaris. I have only been on the sunrise safari, but it really is worth it! The sunset safari is on my "short" list!

(It is also knowing that- YES, your children did turn out great and can act like perfect humans in good company!)

So, now I will begin my vaca with AKL, the final day CONCIERGE!!! Yippee skippy! I am soooo excited.....:hyper:

I'm catching up on this thread and I just want to say "have a great time!". I hate to break this to you, but you still have to worry about getting a savanah view even if you booked concierge.

...worried. I emailed a note to Don at AKL concierge over a week ago, expressing my interest in signing up for Sunrise Safari. I haven't heard from him.... :sad2:

I'm surprised to hear this. Are you certain you have the right email address? wdw.aklodge.concierge@disney.com?
Don has been absolutely, 100% professional and prompt with my emails - both with my Dec 2004 trip and my Feb 2005 trip. I hope you get a response soon. Actually, I would email again right away and say that you want to be sure they got your request and is the Sunrise Safari available? Good luck. Oh - and the Itinerary Planning Office includes Sue, Andrea and Don. All of my emails have been from Andrea or Don...

...I just sent another email, using the link you provided. However, I believe that it was the same address as I had used last week. (someone had posted a link for that address on another page of this thread). Hopefully, that will work....I'm sooo excited aboutour visit to AKL - even my DH is looking forward to this trip! Thanks again!!

...ya know, I don;t even CARE if I get savannah view or not. I'm just so excited to book concierge so I can also book the Sunrise Safari... :cool1: !!

:cool1: :jumping4: :cheer2: :jumping3: :rolleyes1 :bounce: :jumping1: :cool1:

I just received a package in the mail from AKL concierge, chock full o'goodies! A map of AKL, with things to do and sign up for, a pamphlet that allows you to request PS's, Sunrise Safari, etc., a list of concierge offerings (pretty cool African names!), and other items. WOOHOO! Now I just gotta psych myself up so I can get EXCITED!!

Kimmar - Have you heard back from AKL? When is your trip planned if I may ask?

Angel

...we are doing a split-stay. We will be arriving at AKL on 2/19 and staying until 2/22. Then we check in at Ft W cabins from 2/22 to 2/26....

I had to reread that three time and take a deep breath... Not in control!! What does that mean? I don't know if I can do that. Does that mean all this silliness with the new EMH will be OK. Does that mean Don and Andrea will not make us do the SS at 6:15am on the new EMH morning at AK? (or they will at least make me feel better about doing it!) Let me reread that again.... I do not have to be in control. <<sigh>> I'm feeling much better now!

LOL It means you can sit back, breath, smell the flowers, and SMILE! You're going to find that you don't go commando, and you're happy with that choice! Really, the lounge and the entire resort just seem so restful and peaceful! You're going to have a great trip!

Debbie

*still laughing* Yes, I wrote this while taking a break from checking papers, and during that same break I tried to get someone to take the dog out, checked all the locks on the doors, and loaded the dishwasher yet again.... AKL TAKE ME AWAY!

PS Guess who ended up taking the dog out?
