Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

We were there in Sep. 06. Woody was all covered up and Buzz was being painted everyday. Are they all fixed up now?

what is your favorite preferrred bldg??:confused3 what is best floor ?? which bldg are non smoking??? tia

We did it! After much planning/hashing things out we booked with ASMo. Can't wait! Got a GREAT AAA rate.

Question: Is there really that many requests anymore for Herbie the Love Bug? I would think they would want to remodel those for something more current...? Any thoughts?

I stayed in the Love Bug section and my DS really loved it! Its a fun area with the Winner's Circle. I liked it because it wasn't too far from food court and it so quiet.

We now have all the old Herbie movies on DVD.:rotfl:

It wouldn't be too easy to "remodel".

I'm also going to be there 6/2 through 6/8. We booked a standard room though. I hope we get the Love Bug section, dd7 is a big Herbie fan (not to mention we're a family of antique beetles).

No need for me to do the fridge swap though. Dd has chronic asthma and her meds must be kept pretty cold (colder than what an ice chest can keep them) so we're getting a fridge for free during our stay for medical reasons.

The Sweetness : Thanks. Then, would DWD send me any documents for hotel check-in ? or should i check in the hotel by showing the print-out of the reservation confirmation ? sorry..as this is my first time, i really need to ask this silly question ....

btw, I have just booked 2 dinner shows, and am still planning for other meals !

If I were you, I would just call your resort, or central reservations, and have them make everything clear for you that you are confused about. Its been a loooooooooong time since Ive been to WDW (though I have been planning for this springs trip since '01 :rolleyes1)

As far as dining ADR go, you won't regret having made plans. You could always cancel if you change your mind.

Hope to see you there, I am so excited I could burst. I just paid for my family's surprise gift baskets for our arrival (1 for the fam, and one for my girlfriend (she gets her own since its her b/day:banana: )

Please don't flame me, but I understand we can swim in any All Stars pools if we are staying at any All Stars resort? We requested Herbie & it looks like we would be closest to the piano pool which seems like a neat pool. Anyone know if this is true? I won't do it if it isn't allowed or if you think it would be just too far away.

Also, we're renting a car & in the maps the parking lot behind Herbie looks enormous. In September will it be full & will we need to write down where our car is or is it not as intimidating as it looks?

And do you think going to transportation at ASMu or ASMo or driving our car to parks in the morning will be fastest? Last year I tried to get from POP to DTD & it was so irritating our entire group has photos of me pacing up & down the sidewalk. Are the AS buses better? Or should I just never go to DTD? lol

:goodvibes Yes you can swim at any of the All Stars pools.

It would probably be faster I'm not sure since we have only stayed at POP. At POP it was faster to drive but with park hoppers it was a hassle to get back to our car so we took the bus most of the time.

-- Yes

-- The Piano pool is about the same distance, but you have to cross a parking lot.

-- Definately take the time to note where your car is.

-- Car is faster except for Magic Kingdom. Personally it is not worth the hassle. I have had very few bad bus situations. If you have a car anyway though, DTD will definately be easier in a car.

Give the buses a try (you may be closer to ASMU bus stop than ASMO) and if it is too much of a hassle, just use your car on the next day (s) Have a wonderfull time:thumbsup2
I will report back here after my trip the first week of June as to my thoughts on the buses, FC, etc...:cutie:

I've stayed in the Herbie section AND I've stayed at ASMu. Personally, I never used the piano pool. It was ALWAYS crowded. Just look at the layout. ASMu is layed out shotgun style so those in the back buildings will alot of times use only the piano pool. The other hotels are more splayed out so you have a more even distribution. Just follow the sidewalk around the parking lot perimeter to the mighty duck pool. It was great...and the best part was the other pool was under construction, yet it never seemed crowded!

The parking lot isn't that bad. That lot doesn't get used as much as some of the others (or at least when was there it wasn't) and we found several spots near the building so that, when you stood on the sidewalk you could actually *see* the car.

I found the buses to be fairly convenient at all the AS Resorts. We only ended up having problems when going to Epcot. At least twice we waited while multiple buses showed up for other parks. Once it was due to the bus picking up three ppl in scooters and I believe the other time was in the middle of a VERY disorganized shift changed. Coming back from EPCOT tho, never seemed to be a problem..we always managed to have one waiting on us. However...I thought it was all alot less of a hassle then hunting for my car in Epcot's massive parking lot after an exahusting day.

Def take your car to DTD. We usually go there on our last day as we are leaving so its a one way trip. DTD transporation is pretty unorganized. We tried going there after having breakfast at chef mickeys once and I swear after waiting 30 min on a bus we got to do two loops around the property before stopping there.

i can't wait to stay in the all star movies. Because our family didn't stay in the all star movies before.

sent you a pm regarding free fridge swap (free coffeemaker will be added to swap on Sept 9) for your stay in July at All Star Movies.

Other dates available are in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar etc.

Here is the thread for anyone interested in free fridge and coffeemaker swap at All Star Resorts (home base is All Star Movies)

I posted this on another thread before thinking that maybe it belonged here on the FAQ thread for ASMo instead. I read on another site about a traveler's recent stay at ASMo. They really didn't have a lot good to say, which I take with a grain of salt anyhow because everyone is so different in their expectation. Anyhow, they posted about not expecting anything more than a bar of soap, no shampoo or lotion during their stay. Has ASMo stopped the little bottles of shampoo and conditioner or lotion? Or do y'all think he just had an off experience? :confused3 Certainly this is nothing that will deter me since I'm not going to WDW for free shampoo and soap :rotfl: but I'm just honestly curious.
