Besides the wifi, who has a phone battery that lasts that long?
I doubt my iPhone would make it from rope drop to fireworks, maybe I am nuts but when I am in huge crowds like NBA games it seems like the signal is weak and/or the battery dies faster then normal.
So say I book a coveted nighttime RSR for night for our group and my battery dies....
Good point. My relatively new 6s battery died by mid afternoon last time- took a few photos but checked the app often. Had to search for an outlet - no CM would help me locate one - and when I finally found one in Tomorrowland, I was greeted by an incredibly snarky CM walking by who stated that it would be my problem if my phone blew up due to DL's old wiring. And I didn't even engage her in conversation to start!

Here's my guess: Price goes up a decent amount on Signature APs with MP included.

Other APs will have to purchase MP by the day to use digital service.

Those higher priced APs will be the only ones not blocked out for the 2 months surrounding the grand opening of Star Wars Land.

I'm fine with the upcharge. I am someone who finds a lot of value in "convenience" I'd rather go on vacation less and spend more each time -in order to take advantage of conveniences, like the WOC Dessert Party, staying onsite, park hoppers, etc. If I were there without my children, I'd likely not pay for it since I'm physically capable and don't mind running around pulling paper fast passes. My only complaint...and it's a BIG one, is that it sounds like the two parks will be connected. That, to me, is a HUGE bummer. I love park hopping pulling fast passes at both parks. It's why I've always got as much done as I have in a given day. To me, it also takes some value out of buying park hoppers.

I'll be very interested to see how this all plays out. I thought the system was working fine, but I guess technology was bound to come to Disneyland. The upcharge is odd, though, it doesn't make me mad.

It's a good deal for photopass because you could just have one person pay for the Maxpass for the week, $50 in your example. You'd save $50 over what you previously spent. There would be no need to buy the Maxpass for everyone in the party if you were just using it for photos.
But then you would only have the photos you were in?? So if you were doing meet and greets or character breakfast, you couldn't include pictures of just the kids? And if your party didn't stay together the whole time, you would miss photo opportunities there as well. I mention this because I usually travel with myself, and at least 2 of my children and their families- we don't always stay together the entire week. If only one person did the max pass - they would have to be in every photo or you will miss a bunch

Wow, how rude! I haven't experienced CMs with bad attitudes like this, but I can only imagine the damper it puts on your vacation.

They don't search each photo to make sure the owner of the Photopass benefit is in the shot. You will be able to put the whole family's photos under one account.

Although I have no plans to use this new FP option (local and have a Signature Plus pass) I too am concerned about the words "introductory price". It is very a common marketing ploy to offer something at a great price and get people feeling like it is a "must have", then bump the price considerably. Disney is a master at making their fan base love spending more money and at figuring out ways to get us to spend more money. Could this be the beginning of a tier based system, where for free you get three FP a day, for $25 you get 6 and for a lot more $$$ unlimited FP with smaller windows before you can get the next FP? Only time will tell. I just caution all to keep in mind this could be just the beginning of monetizing FP. The more that partake in this the more traction a potential paid FP system might have.

I may be alone, but I kind of love this! Firstly $10 a day for photopass is awesome value. Secondly I love the idea that I can run for space mountain in the morning (ok, walk fast!) then book a fastpass while already in the standby line. I also love that TSMM will be getting fastpass because my goodness that ride is the most unreliable thing to boot up in the mornings! I can't count the number of times I've gone to go on it first thing before the line builds up only to find its not working. The only concern I have is if they make it so you can no longer get fastpasses in both parks at once. I'd almost be tempted to buy two separate one park tickets in that case so as to hold a fastpass in both at once (probably wouldn't actually do though, because expensive!) hopefully this won't be the case and this will just be another great tool you can use to maximise ride time!

I'm from Australia by the way, but ALWAYS get a local SIM card with data - you can usually get one for under $20 on Amazon delivered to your hotel before you arrive. I don't understand why anyone would try to do without cellular data while on vacation in this day and age!

At WDW, at least in the past, to get a F! Dining Package, you just signed up for it like a dining reservation - totally free with your meal.

Actually, the F! Dining package costs more than a regular meal...I just did it last week. On the other hand, it includes an appetizer, which most "meals" (as defined by the standard Disney Dining Plan) don't include. So it's kind of a wash, but also a LOT of food.

Sarcasm here: But, Disneyland already fixed the battery problem with their portable battery charging machines they installed recently . You can get one for $30. :-/

It should be $10 per family or one phone, but knowing the current Disney it will be $10 per Family Member.
Also, both attractions added to FP (TSMM, and the Matterhorn) can easily be done in the morning without the need of FP.
Depending on allocation, I don't see a reason to change unless its for convenience.

My only wish is that they do not get rid of the Matterhorn Single Rider option.

hi, meet my family of 15... :P

+1 Seriously don't understand the "argument" that it's not a good system because the parks don't have wifi / data costs, why anybody would travel a country, spend thousands and thousands on the vacation and then not have a data enabled service is beyond me...

Yes, they are called FuelRods and you can get the exact same one for $20 if you buy it online from the web site .I bought a similar one , 2800mAh , from Newegg.com for under $10.

What a stupid remark by that CM. Your phone won`t blow up. Is their 110volts older than todays 110volts. If anything, if you plugged a microwave oven into it the old wiring of Disney might overheat .

Not everyone has unlimited funds. Different families find different ways to economize. When you include the cost of the data, the daily cost of the plan, the cost of the charging device, it all adds up.

Portable cell phone chargers can be had at Walmart or Amazon for $10 or so and some of them can charge up your phone a couple of times before the charger battery needs to be recharged. And they don't weigh very much. We have one and it has 2 USB ports, so we can charge both my & DH's cell phones at the same time in my purse or backpack.

However, it does mean that you have to plan in advance and bring it with you. Otherwise, you COULD spend the $30 for a Fuel Rod at the parks. DL & DCA also had/have charging lockers, but I don't know if those are still in place now that there are Fuel Rod kiosks.

And that's the great thing about this new system - if you are tight on funds and do not wish to spend money on data / phones / chargers / maxipass then you don't have to - you still have access to the legacy fastpass system. It's win/win - those who want to take advantage of the added convenience can / those who do not wish do aren't required to

Disney is a business, nobody is entitled to anything for free - the laws of supply and demand will be the judge and jury on what Disney can and cannot charge for
